Great beer selection of craft beers but if looking for a meal look else where. Service is slow as been told by locals. All sandwiches served in a basket the tuna melt was a mess that you had to eat it with a knife and fork but the paper in the basket was so wet they became one. Fantastic spot! I come here with my family once a year when up at the cottage. We come here in between our family massages and pedicures. We randomly came in here for the first time, we had a red head waitress that suggested the signature pizza and their special Bloody Mary..... Literally the best pizza I've ever had and the Bloody Mary was on point. Now it seems we always get her, and everytime we order the same food, still super surprised it's so good. I'm obsessed with this place. I wish I had a place like this in Los Angeles so I could enjoy it more than once a year when visiting my family!!! Well done Shady's!!!! And thank you re headed server. Shady's is ok. It's not the best and not the worst food wise. It is a pretty good bar to hang out at. Next to the Beach Bar it's probably the most popular in the area. Pizza is decent and what I would recommend. read more

Great craft beer and friendly service, a little bit pricey and the food takes a long time to make, but it's a fun place

I went in there with my husband and friend. My husband and I are caucasian and my friend happens to be African american. The servers and bartenders looked at us like a ghost and that the have never seen an African american person in their life. Place is very uncultured. Beer was good obviously, service was slow. Took 50 minutes for their breadsticks to come out that had bacon and cheese on them. I will not being going there again since the place is unfriendly to others. read more

Looove this place. The staff is very knowledgeable about the beers they serve, attentive, friendly, and fast. We were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the food was! We ordered the pizza rolls, a deep dish pizza, and the Ruben appetizer. Fresh ingredients, hot food, cold beer. All the makings for a perfect relaxed evening. Sad, I heard the food was bad and service was worse but since there aren't many choices in Brooklyn we decided to try it. I was with a party of 5. I went in to get the table and was ignored for quite a few minutes. Finally I asked if there were tables and the young lady said "I think so" and walked away. I could see at least 4 empty tables. A large group walked in behind me and was immediately seated and well accommodated. I was surprised because I had stood there so long and the same man had seen me there. So why was I ignored and not offered a table! The man looked right at me and offered the other group a table. I was ignored until I left when he looked at me again as if to say I'm glad you got the hint. Please don't support this establishment read more

We sat outside on a beautiful evening. Jessica was a friendly, upbeat server. The lobster bisque was AWSOME!!! I had a tuna melt, hubby had roast beef sandwich. Very fresh and delicious. We are on vacation in the area for only a week. We WILL eat here again!. read more

We tried this place for the first time during Nascar weekend in August. Jen was the only one working out front and she was amazing. She hustled to everyone's table and ran the bar on top of that without ever losing a smile. She deserves a raise. The beer tap selection was great and the food was very good as well. Being a true native from Brooklyn, MI, I have to say I am quite impressed with this small town pub. Owners Brenda and Pat Collins are doing a great job with this place. As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable. The staff are attentive, the place is clean, the restrooms are clean, and the entertainment, although I am slightly biased because it was family that was singing, was awesome; thank you Bob Elrod II. Worse than anything that Gordon Ramsay has ever encountered! The only thing worse than the service was the food! This was a genuine dining nightmare! My wife and I, with two other couples met at Shady's Tap Room for dinner on 12/5/2012. When we entered just before 6pm only one other table was occupied. This should have been a major clue as to what was to follow! Instead of personal service, we received basically no service! Our Table Cloth was one of those white plastic sheets like they have at buffet tables, except that this particular one was torn and dirty. The waitress was very pleasant but harried and unable to focus. Drink and Appetizer orders were taken and then retaken, as she returned to apologize that they were out of bread knots and two of the basic brands of liquor requested. One of my friends had to ask for a slice of Lime for his drink twice after the initial request. Second choice drinks eventually found their way to the table, thoughts of Appetizers or bread were abandoned, and Dinner orders were taken. Thereafter, we waited fully one hour and five minutes for the first items to be delivered to the table! During this delay, a young man in red pants moved from the kitchen to the front sidewalk for a cigarette every fifteen minutes. He may have been the Cook, or just someone hanging out! As the hour passed, we stood twice to leave, only to be assured by the waitress that the dinners were coming right up! At one of these junctures, a friend and I earnestly offered to go back to the kitchen and prepare the food ourselves! After the one-hour plus wait, the first entrees to arrive were Reuben Sandwiches; cold and lacking any kraut! Reuben sandwiches without kraut! They were toasted bread, sliced meat and thousand- island dressing! When they were returned to and from the kitchen after requested warming, the kraut that had to be asked for was delivered frozen and in a plastic cup! Things went further downhill from there! The "Brooklyn" Salad, priced at $8.95 plus $2.00 extra for Chicken arrived as a paltry mound of generic lettuce topped by no discernible cheese, perhaps ten each of pecan pieces and dried currants and a half dozen bullet size pieces of cold chicken. The pathetic offering of dressing came in a clear plastic cup of the size commonly utilized for Jell-O Shots! It was worse for a similarly priced Caesar Salad that arrived without croutons or any of the paid for extra chicken! No bread or even soda crackers came with the "large" salads! By this point, we just wanted to eat and get out of Shady's as fast as possible! Unfortunately, we had to ask for silverware and napkins to move things forward! When finally equipped, we raced through the terrible meals, paid our healthy bills, and all agreed that it was the worst dining experience ever! What a black eye for Brooklyn! read more

Did a great job turning an old building into an Irish pub. Then they said "let's put Pizza and Mexican food on the menu, no Irish food." So confusing why they did this. I guess they thought Brooklyn needed a 15th pizza place. Google "Irish pub food." read more

Value and service are what I look for in a place and Shady's didn't disappoint. The cozy atmosphere makes it enjoyable to stay and there was a stream of people all night, which makes it fun. My husband was happy to see a local place with a choice of micro-brew. We've added this to my "favorite places" list and look forward to sampling their specials. read more

Disappointed! We were very excited about this new business being part Of Brooklyns Downtown. Went in yesterday at 12 noon to have a sandwich and watch the Michigan game. Sat down and noticed 1 waitress and 1 bartender. There were 12 people in the restaurant and 7 were sitting at the bar. We were never greeted, never approached by anyone. The one waitress on the floor did not even say "I'll be with you in a minute." After 5 + minutes of sitting and feeling invisible we walked out. Both my husband and I believe there should be more wait staff or a waitress training of some sort to create good customer service. If this continues, this cute and quaint pub in Brooklyn will never survive. read more

Shady's has been a curiosity of mine ever since it opened a few months back. It seems they're packed every time I drive by. Well, last night my wife and I decided to give it a try. All I can say is "wow..." what a pleasant surprise! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and our first impression of the place was very positive. Words like warm, local flavor, and lacking pretention come to mind. You can tell the local crowd has embraced this establishment. The food was equally as welcoming. My wife had the club which she said was delicious, and I had the reuben on tomato-basil bread. By far, one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! I was amazed how reasonable their prices for such quality food. They could easily get $3.00 to $4.00 more per sandwich. The owner even stopped by to check on us multiple times and you could tell she takes great pride in what she serves as she went on to describe (in detail), her specific choice of ingredients. Not quite sure what these other folks' issues were--perhaps they're just impossible to please--because our overall experience at Shady's was top notch! I went down with a couple of buddies to check it out and we absolutely loved our dining experience! I'd absolutely recommend anyone to go because the atmostphere, food, and service was wonderful! They've got a nice selection of craft beers (actually priced lower than most) and their signature Shady's pie is to die for! Honestly, one of the best and most unique pizzas I've had in a long time. Sometimes when people get too creative in trying to make the most unique pie their creation goes south, despite the best of intentions. Not the case here! Order this pie and you won't be disappointed! We just loved the service, the food, the beer, and the tight-knit-small-town comradery shared among those dining at Shady's Tap Room. Shady's is by no means a short trip for me but I plan to revisit many more times! read more
