I was first introduced to the Halal Guys in Manhattan which used to be excellent. As the city became too far to consistently drive for chicken and rice, I would frequently go to New Hyde Park or Hicksville for the same taste, but late night cravings left those trips to be extremely tiresome. Thank god for this place because it has great food and it is so close and convenient. I was scared to try it initially because it was located in the gas station but I totally judged the book by its cover here. The gas station doesn't impact the quality of the food whatsoever. The chicken is always fresh. Salad is crisp and never old and white sauce has been excellent since my first encounter. If you like halal food, this is probably one of the best options in the area. You won't be dissappointed.

I've had Shah's Halal Food at the Hicksville mall, so when I saw the sign up at a gas station, it piqued my interest. Don't let the gas station location fool you. It's very clean and nice on the inside, with a counter to eat and some wooden benches outside. I went with the combo over rice. Overall, the taste was pretty good. The rice was well seasoned and nicely cooked. The chicken was flavored nicely and very tender. So often this chicken can get dry, so I'm glad this location did a good job. The lamb gyro wasn't too greasy. The best part about Shah's is that you can add any toppings to the plate that you want. I added tomatoes, a tomato and cucumber salad, and chickpeas. It adds to the freshness of the meal and makes it seem more balanced. There wasn't enough white sauce and the sauce was a bit lacking in flavor. The red sauce and green sauce is what helped make the dish tasty. The menu is very fairly priced. For $6.99, I got the combo over rice plate with all the added toppings. And, to my surprise, it came with a cold can of soda. They also deliver using UberEats, GrubHub, and DoorDash. The problem with Shah's here was the same as at the Hicksville location. The food is prepared ahead of time and held in hotel pans. The food is served out of the pans like at Chipotle. Because of this, the taste is not anything like a NYC Halal cart or some other Halal locations nearby that cook your food to order. It makes a big difference when the chicken and the lamb gyro are cooked on a flat top. You get much more flavor from the golden brown bits and the slightly burnt bits. Until Shah's starts doing this, there is no way they'd match what the carts provide. The overall taste was around 3.5 stars, but I rounded up since they're new and need some time to get things perfect. Plus I liked being able to add cucumber, tomato, and chickpeas for free. And the pricing was great.

Great food. Great price. Went here for lunch Monday afternoon. It's located inside a gas station which is weird but it looked shockingly clean and the food was delicious. I got the combo platter over rice with white sauce. Delicious! I was the only customer in there at lunch time which is a shame. I.T I hope they get more exposure because it's really good and it's cheap. My platter was $6.99 and I added a pita for a buck. Gyros are 5.99. Any toppings and sauces are free of charge. Great place. Will absolutely be back.

Philly cheesesteak but where's the beef?

Ordered delivery through UberEATS. Got a Philly cheesesteak but it was more like a roll of bread with a tiny side of cheesesteak. Can't believe the restaurant thought this was okay to serve.

This is officially my new go to spot and I'm going to be telling everyone about it. I got there right at our reservation time, but the uptown trains had completely stopped and my friend had to walk all the way from Canal St to the East Village. It took her about 30 minutes to get there (), but the staff were so kind about it. They never made me feel uncomfortable or pressured to order while I waited, which I really appreciated. I did end up ordering a couple things so there would be food on the table when she arrived. We got the za'atar fries and the falafel with tahini and pita. Delishhhh For our mains, my friend got the chicken kebab which looked fantastic, and I got the veggie couscous bowl. It was unbelievable. It tasted exactly like the couscous my mom and safta made when I was growing up, even down to the broth being served with it. Eating it honestly made me feel like I was six years old again. This was one of my favorite meals as a kid and I haven't had it like that in so long, so I was so happy to find a place that does it this well. The vegetables were perfect with zucchini, butternut squash, cauliflower, and chickpeas, and I loved the addition of raisins and onions. Everything was also really reasonably priced for what you get. The energy in the restaurant was great and I loved that they have hooks for coats so you're not crammed at the table with jackets and bags. Overall just such a fantastic experience. This is easily my new favorite restaurant in the city and I cannot wait to come back.

The baba ghanoush was everything I love in a good eggplant dip and was a definite win in our book - seasoned, textured, and slightly smokey. We intuited this would be delicious by getting two containers of it, and this turned out to be a great life choice. Chicken adana is a fan favorite in our house, and it's done pretty well here. They're like elongated loaves of marinated and spiced ground chicken, and delicious with rice and a dollop of yogurt sauce. We preferred these over the chicken kebab, which were just as flavorful but quite a bit drier. Both entrees were served with a grilled tomato and pepper, which were still warm and charred from the grill. They also came with small side salads, with lightly dressed and slightly wilted greens. My husband appreciated the extra veggies with our meal, but I far preferred the warm and soft pita rounds.

Walking through, you get a nice view of the kitchen area, seeing where the magic happens: an exciting way to start the experience! My group decided to share a few things, all of which were delicious. The vegetable pizza (or "pitza" as they style it) was a huge hit: we loved the crust, with its resonant notes of olive oil, and the mozzarella cheese could not have been fresher. The olives and peppers delightfully balanced the cheese and tomatoes, making for an irresistible flavor profile and mouthfeel. Seriously, do not underestimate this formidable pie! The chicken platter came loaded with grilled chicken, hummus, and salad, along with warm, freshly baked pita. Perfect option for the person that wants to take their time sampling a variety of foods. The leg of lamb sandwich, meanwhile, is ready to be consumed at whatever pace you deem fit: indeed, one of our party devoured it voraciously, no crumbs left behind. And finally, we also worked our way through the large feta salad, which turns out to actually be an enormous platter of crumbled feta with some diced tomatoes on top. Don't order this expecting a leafy green salad, it's all cheese! BUT, do order it so that you can add some tangy feta to everything else on the table. It really makes the flavors pop. My first impression of Bedouin Tent was excellent. Service was great and the prices are very fair for the area. Whether you're seeking a more traditional Mediterranean meal or something with a fusion twist, this is an awesome spot to consider.
