    Green Sauce (Cilantro style)
    J E.

Came here for dinner one evening, as I was in the mood for Mediterranean food. The guy working the counter was friendly and accommodating. The menu isn't very exciting and so much of what you might order uses ingredients which are pre-made and scooped out to make the order. The first thing I noticed which was odd was that the flat top grill was completely polished and clean, so this told me whatever I ordered was already cooked. I went for the simple chicken served over rice with veggies (in my case a salad) on top. The salad was fresh and the rice was spot-on perfect Basmati with cumin seeds in it. The chicken didn't have any flavor at all and there were some gristly pieces in it. It's a bold red color, but that doesn't indicate flavor, just coloring. Regarding the sauces... The green sauce was decent, it's a cilantro type sauce and it tasted decent. The white sauce was bland. The red, hot sauce was definitely incredibly spicy, but had hardly any flavor. Overall, it's adequate and I'm sure that many who want moderate flavors would appreciate it. I prefer more depth of flavor and spice and this was too bland for me.

I've been here at least 5 times and have never been disappointed. The line, if there even is one, is always quick to move. The staff are usually friendly and the portion sizes are always large. I always get chicken over rice and it's typically 2 meals worth of food for me. I always take my food to go, but there are plenty of tables for seating. There's also an area to park your shopping cart, if you come after your shopping is already done.

Chicken and rice with tomatoes and cucumbers with white sauce

Don't sleep on this place because it's in a Walmart. The food is amazing it's not expensive and the staff is great. Chicken and rice with tomatoes and cucumbers with the white sauce. I don't know know what's in the white sauce but all day with it. You should go here to just eat and not even have to shop at Walmart. Don't miss this absolute gem. Perfectly cooked brown rice juicy marinated chicken fresh cucumber and tomato salad on top with a white sauce you can put on anything. Sweet herbaceous with a little spice. Get you some today!

AMAZING food. Great friendly service. Not what I was expecting at all from a fast food style place in a Walmart. We tried the combo rice platter, the chicken gyro (delicious!!) and the kofte kebab. Served with crispy hot fries. Wow. Definitely recommend.

Amazing customer service! We drove in late from out of town and were looking for a place to eat. Shareef went above and beyond to accommodate us last minute, the platters and baklava were amazing. Thank you to Muhammad as well for preparing our meal. We definitely recommend checking this place out- even for the hospitality alone. 10 stars!

Delicious food at a great price. The only downside is having to deal with Walmart. I had the lamb platter.

I had the tandoori chicken over rice and a small salad. Chicken was good. I'll go back, trying the gyros next.

The food is alright, overpriced though for fast food. If they lowered prices it'd be worth it.

Kavsar is a family-owned restaurant that feels like a hidden local gem and a great escape if you want to try something new. This was my first time having Uzbek food and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the Lagman with beef, Samsa beef, the Kavsar boat with chicken, and a bottle of water. It was definitely a lot of food for one person, but I wanted to try a little of everything and I'm glad I did. Everything tasted fresh, hearty, and homemade. One tip: don't get too full on the main dishes. Save room for the Honey Cake for dessert. It's absolutely worth it and something you don't want to miss. If you're in Pittsburgh and want a cozy spot with great food and welcoming vibes, Kavsar is a fantastic place to check out.

It is unassuming from the outside and seems tiny when you enter, but don't let that fool you! First, they have an entire extra room of seating in a space next door (that seems to have been recently remodeled). The menu has a nice variety of options listing hot and cold appetizers, main entrees, sides and desserts. They specialize in Uzbek Cuisine which is quite different in some areas, but also similar to other cuisines with certain dishes. There are a variety of dumpling entrees and also fried dough/fried pocket items. One of the favorites among my family is the fried pelmeni which are small, beef filled dried delights. Perfectly fried, bite sized and packed with flavor. They are served with sour cream and a sweet chili sauce, but you don't really need any dipping sauce because they are so good on their own. Another appetizer we love is the cheburek, a beef filled fried pastry similar to something like an empanada. For entrees, I've had the Uzbek plov several times. Rice with carrots raisins and lamb. The lamb is tender and perfectly seasoned. It is one of those dishes that I am stuffed but can't stop eating because it is so delicious. The pelmeni soup is another highlight. Perfect for a cold day or to give you an ultimate comfort food meal. Service is usually pretty attentive (although if you end up in the extra room it will be on the slower side but still good). There is street parking right in front of the restaurant, but if there isn't space, there is also a municipal lot about a block away. The one down side is that if they are busy, it can take quite awhile to get food. But the wait is worth it! If you are looking to try something new and different, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed!
