Meat had good flavor (though it might have been a little less salty), the Shack Sauce complimented it with a creaminess and mildly tanginess. French fries were some of the best I've had in a while, crispy on the outside (they don't sag when you're dipping them in ketchup), soft on the inside. Yesterday we returned and I tried the chicken sandwich. Chicken was very tender, and the breading was crisp and savory. Buttermilk mayo made an ideal topping, rich but subtle in flavor. We washed down our meal with pints of Shack Ale, perfectly good quaffing beer. I've paid more for barburgers and some celebrated diner burgers that didn't measure up to Shack's. I came during the grand opening and my first thought was how fast the service was, very impressed! I got a single shack burger, fries, and a cookies and cream shake. The burger was soft and tasty, the fries were perfectly crisp, and the shake was of course amazing. What I loved the most was all the floating servers around helping people out. The employees were all super helpful and friendly. I honestly think shake shack is my favorite chain fast food restaurant. Their fries and burgers are just so good. Their shakes are also delicious. My favorite burger there is the smoke stack but you could honestly enjoy any of their burgers or even their hot dogs. The only negative about this place is that it is fairly pricey and also that waits can be a bit long since there always a bunch of people so expect that. Have been looking forward to trying this east coast chain for a while. Everything everyone says about parking is true, the lot is very congested and not designed well. I decided to try the shake shack burger, one smoke shack burger which includes bacon and cherry peppers and a side of fries. We shared one large drink and our total price was just under $20, so definitely not cheap. The burger itself is fantastic, the burger has a very rich flavor almost like it was cooked with butter. I have to say compared to elevation burger or five guys, I felt this burger has the richest taste of all three. The fries are not appetizing at all just your standard crinkle cut fries, would skip this the next time. Based on the price and convenience, I am not sure, I will become a regular here, but the burgers are damn good. Edited 12-16-19. Management invited us back with a coupon, this time we focused on the burgers and got an extra patty along with a cookies and cream shake. We got the strawberry mint lemonade with a shake burger and a side of fries. The lemonade was super tart and delicious with a nice kick of mint to finish it off. I got a double shake burger and it was incredible, for the speed with which it was made. There were dozens of imperfections, which added to the charm, and really made it seem like a homemade burger. The buns were still slightly connected, the patty wasn't perfectly round. And the crunchy fries were a great bonus. Shake shack has the speed of McDonalds with the flavor and charm of Frita Batidos. When one came to Ann Arbor, I made my kids earn money so we could go for a treat. I love the fact that they have gluten-free buns and during Covid, we made use of their outdoor seating area (complete with foosball table). My kids love their fries so I ordered extra. The food was not good. The fries were cold and hard along with the buns. Everything was left sitting, I ordered ahead but it wasn't ready when we got there which led me to believe they were making it fresh. This lack of freshness didn't come from sitting for 10 minutes. I'm not sure what happened, I think we hit the end of lunch rush. I should have went up and told them, that's on me. So we all ate a few bites and left. It was $34. The soda was fine. I. LOVE. SHAKE SHACK. I've been eating their fresh burgers and fries for years now but Ann Arbor kept me deprived from them--until now! I planned my visit for opening day. It was packed, clearly a lot of demand and interest from folks in the area. This location is on Washtenaw, across from Whole Foods in the Arbor Hills shopping plaza. I think it will be busy location to have a Shake Shack since the plaza is already quite packed. We will have to see if parking turns out to be a issue in the upcoming months. My friend and I shared the chicken shack, double shack burger, fries, and a concrete (which had brownies and large chunks of chocolate in it). Everything was wonderful as usual. The staff and cashiers were very friendly and happy to serve new customers for their business. If you haven't had Shake Shack before and want to decide what to get, here's my recommendations: Shack Burger, Fries, and a Shake. Can't go wrong with the classic elements of American fast food. In terms of Shake flavors, try out the vanilla or chocolate if it's your first time. Every shake flavor is pretty delicious. Shake Shack just opened in Ann Arbor and I had a generally pleasant experience. I must say that the space looks nice and modern and has a good bit of outdoor seating which was a pleasant surprise! Went at 9 on a Wednesday so the line wasn't too long and it moved pretty quickly despite the restaurant being full. Although we ordered quickly it still took about 15 minutes to actually get our food (since it's their opening week I'll give them a pass). For my meal I had a double shack burger with fries and cookies and cream shake. I really enjoy the Shake Shack style burger that is smashed on a flat top giving it a crisp exterior while maintaining a nice juicy patty. The shack burger is a solid 7.9 out of 10 imo. The crinkle cut fries I've had at other shake shack locations are pretty good, these ones were a little cold and could have used some salt but were still decent. My shake was delicious albeit a little melty, but since it's about 100 degrees today I won't hold it against them haha. One note, there were a ton of fruit flies flying around during my meal, kinda off putting. If I could give half stars I'd give Shake Shack Ann Arbor a 3.5 but since they just opened I'll round up and hope they can work some kinks out! read more

I went to pick up my order at 9:50 pm with a close time of 10:00 pm. When I got there the door was locked. There were also five others waiting for orders. A young lady employee, was so busy talking on her phone she ignored us for awhile, until I went to a different door and got her attention. They are paying your salary and their paychecks. I walked in and was met with upbeat music and friendly team members. I ordered the coconut snowball shake (you gotta try it), crinkle fries (perfect), and smokehouse shack(real bacon!!!). I like that there's mobile order pick up, repurposed wood tables, and outlets at wall tables. Unfortunately, they don't have their own WiFi. You may balk at the prices, but they were raised two years ago to supplement wage increases. I was excited to try this place as I had heard others rave about the food. Unfortunately, I found this place to be a huge let down. The biggest problem that plagues this place is its unreasonably high prices. For me, my wife and my daughter to each have a burger, fries and a drink it cost nearly $50. While there are many places that I'd gladly pay this much or more for a meal, the overall quality of the food at Shake Shack doesn't make it worth the price. Here is a breakdown of how I rate my experience and each individual food item: 1. Fries- 0 stars. These were basic run-of-the mill crinkle fries you could buy at the store and cook in an air fryer at home. Nothing special here, just overpriced. 2. Shakes- 1 star. This was by far the biggest disappointment. You'd think a place called Shake Shack would have some awesome shakes. Nope. Just an ordinary shake that you could pretty much get anywhere else of equal or greater quality. Like the fries, the only thing that stood out about this was that it was overpriced (and in this case overhyped). 3. Burgers- 4 stars. The burgers were actually very good and if everything else on the menu could be as good as the burgers, I'd gladly give this place a better rating. They were very juicy and flavorful and the soft, deli-like buns were an interesting touch. 4. Service- 3 stars. There is a small army of employees behind the counter struggling to maintain order. Although I wasn't impressed by the service, I can tell they were trying their best. 5. The restaraunt itself- 1 star. After placing your order, you will at some point find yourself wading through a crowd as if you are at a club to get to your food when it comes up. Also, the line to order food ends up making a human wall that blocks you from the pick up counter. Also, there was nowhere to sit. read more

I ordered chicken fingers (which were delicious), a hamburger (not for me) and a mushroom burger with an order of cheese fries. This place has the best cheese fries hands down! My order was ready in literally 5 minutes and this was a freshly made hamburger not a McDonald's burger. The quality is great and the service is excellent. The quality and quantity dose not justify the hype. It is a very mediocre burger joint. Although the interior is pretty, the service is fast.
