After being in the area for a while, I finally got a chance to eat here and experience shake Shack. The place is great. Staff is friendly and the food is great. I got a chance to try two different sandwiches. The smoke shack burger and the chicken sandwich. The smoke sandwiches are easily the best in the area. However, I have had better sanfwhiches at a sit down restaurant. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The same went with the smoke-shack burger. It was phenomenal. But again, I've had better burgers. I loved the milkshakes and they are easily one of the best I've had. Needless To say, if I'm ever in the area again, im going here and paying. My only gripe with this place is the portion I get vs the price I pay. I could eat my sandwiches in literally three bites. That's not good when I pay $10 for a burger. Especially compared to 5 guys where I get a decent sized burger and a boat load of fries for a similar price. Highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

Great food, consistent just as most fast food chains are. My main comment is on the service. The employees go around asking if you're enjoying your food, bring you ice water, and will take your tray away when you're finished eating! That took me by surprise because I haven't experienced that at other Shake Shack locations. The location is relatively clean (the table I sat at had crumbs on it but it wasn't a big deal), has outdoor eating space, and even has shades that lower over the windows when the sun starts heating the place up. Two lines when you walk in, buzzer waiting system just like every other Shake Shack. Overall, a satisfying experience. Would come again for the drool-inducing burgers. read more

Rarely am I ever at the Inner Harbor to enjoy Shake Shack. In fact, this is my first visit. Therefore, I arrived at this location expecting to have a delicious burger. I was suprised by how empty the restaurant was after I heard of stories about lines wrapped around the store. It was approximately 7:00 pm. I left, however, empty handed. When I walked in, there was one person walking away from the counter after ordering. I waited in line behind one person for five or more minutes and mulled over the menu. While I waited, I took photos of the menu, of the shake special, and the staff standing in the kitchen. I left, however. But not before taking in that service was not at the top of priorities of the staff on duty. Yes, the establishment appeared clean. Yes. the menu had several burger options; bacon is extra, though. But there was no urgency to serve. I hope to return and try again and change my review. read more

But, seriously, get over it and just try it once so you can compare it to your current burger allegiance (Five Guys, In N' Out, Alley Burger Bistro, et al.) Shake Shack is the only place five minutes from my home that I can get a burger with crispy shallots, the Shackmeister Burger is heaven for me. So my boyfriend lived in Brooklyn for over a year and, despite our best attempts, we never made it to Shake Shack. Needless to say, we were stoked they made it to Baltimore. While running errands on a glorious grown-up snow day (that extended our weekend to 4 days!) we decided to poke into the Shack for a burger, fries, and shake. Warning: the line has been SUPER long since the place is brand new. We waited about 30 minutes, both in line and for our food. The line was out the door, but manager was passing out generous samples of salted caramel hot chocolate though, so we were okay with it. I had a classic shackburber (the classic cheeseburger), boyfran had the smokeshack (cheeseburger with bacon and diced spicy cherry peppers), and we split fries and the Pratt Street Pie milkshake. Oh mah gahhhh. That milkshake. It was creamy vanilla custard blended with a slice of blueberry pie from B-more institution Dangerously Delicious. Very cool. This was definitely one of the best frozen treats I've ever had in my life. The fries are golden, fresh, and crispy. The burgers are well-seasoned, juicy, and the shake sauce is amazeballs. We also sampled their house beer from Brooklyn Brewery, which paired extremely well with the burger. The employees are EXTREMELY friendly and pleasant, and we enjoyed chatting with the guy working at the door. The entire place is clean and very bright, with lots of seating options from booths, to two-tops, to large long high top tables running down the center of the dining area. This was the first time I'd ever been to Shake Shack and it certainly didn't disappoint! I got the Shack burger with cheese fries and a fifty/fifty and both hit the spot. The veggies were fresh and the party was perfectly seasoned. The cheese fries had just the right amount crunch and saltiness. The only downside was that the drink wasn't sweet enough for my taste so I wouldn't recommend the fifty/fifty if you like your iced tea sweet. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

So I first stumbled upon this lovely establishment up in NEW YORK and instantly fell in love with SHAKE SHACK. We have been back to the one in NY so many times. We were thrilled to hear one was opening up in Baltimore. When they did the wife and I jumped our asses in the car and rolled on down to the city. I did the number one cardinal sin when you go to a joint and you know what you love....I strayed from my norm. I got some sort of cranberry sauce burger concussion it was noooottt good. My wife got her norm and said it was slightly on the dry side. She did still enjoy her fries with cheese sauce. The wait was a little long with no one really being in the restaurant yet. Shack Shack is a great franchise and I am sure it will continue to grow. The were still new when we went so I am sure this location will get better with time. First time trying a shake shack. Heard through Co workers that it had outstanding food, even saying it had the best burger in the business. I've had many a burger in my life, all over the world, and this burger is definitely good, but not better than Five Guys, and not better than the reigning In N Out burger out west. The best way to decribe this place is like a Chipotle for burgers, with a night life component. Personally, I think the serving size here is way too small for the price. Five guys is right across the street and will give you a bag of fries for the price of the fires here. I took my wife and two young kids for lunch (don't worry they are very well behaved). While you can bring your kids, this isn't particularly family friendly even duri my the day. I'd imagine in the evening you'd feel pretty unwelcome with a stroller. I don't love downtown, and won't travel downtown for this place. But I could see this being a nice meet up for singles. I am still shaken by the horrible customer service I experienced last night at this location. There were times before I felt like complaining about how the bad management at this location, but this even tops that and I will never be eating at this location of your chain again. I arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before closing and there was a single line, but being a regular customer I entered the 2nd line. The cashier that was supposed to serve the 2nd line I was in, Tina, told me that other guests were there prior to me and that I would have to wait until she served "them" in the first line. I was also told by Tina that she was only accepting cards, which I believed to be in demeaning tone. I was paying with a card, but she could have simply put a sign on her cash register saying 'cards only.' After paying for my food, I waited 20 minutes (10:45 PM-11:10 PM) complain about the delay to the other cashier (not Tina) who had to walk into the back to pick-up my order. After all that time, the bag did not come with a straw for the shake. read more

I have mixed feelings about Shake Shack. Now that I have been three times (twice in Baltimore and once in DC -- nope, never in NYC), I have formed a pretty solid opinion. First, the prices are a little bit ridiculous. I always end up sending $15+ here just because I want to be able to get a burger, fries, and some kind of shake or custard. The burgers are really not anything special in my opinion, but it's hard to justify just getting fries and a shake! (And I'm not a hot dog fan.) [I have tried the ShakeShack burger and the ShackMeister and neither were great IMO.] The fries are good, but again, not amazing. (Pretty delish dipped in the frozen custard!) I one time tried the beer specially made by Brooklyn Brewery and it was terrible. They had just kicked the keg and started a new one, and I don't know if this might have affected the taste somehow, but it was really bordering on gross, and I like beer! However, the custard and shakes ARE really, really great. And given the location, this would definitely be my go-to if I wanted some frozen custard on a hot day while wandering the Inner Harbor. Forget Rita's, a custard here is cheaper and just as good (it not better) with larger serving! YUM. I believe I tried one of the concretes in DC and felt that I preferred just a plain custard or shake. And of course, unless you come on a really off time you will probably be waiting in line to order, waiting a while for your food, and having to go into hunter mode to get a table, but it's probably worth doing once at least! read more

So Baltimore has a Shake Shack now. Whenever my boyfriend and I are in DC, he always stops in Shake Shack for a milkshake and burger. I was never really tempted to try anything because I don't eat red meat. When I heard that Shake Shack had announced the opening date in Baltimore, I actually kind of got excited and went to check out the menu. Just hoping for a turkey burger. Nope no turkey burger! lol Today I went for lunch. I was the 2nd person in line waiting outside at 10:55 am. They open at 11 am. I ordered my food and noticed that the line was already out the door. WOW! So just plan a little before going. And if you are driving, think about where you might park. I got the Shroom burger, chicken apple sage sausage, and the cheese fries. The fries were actually really good, hot and crunchy. The cheese sauce is a little salty, but i guess that is to be expected with american cheese. The shroom burger was delish! I would definitely order it again. The sausage on the other hand was just not good. It was really rubbery like. All in all, i would probably go back again. It's been a year or two since I've had Shake Shack (in NYC) and I remember liking it quite a bit, so I was excited to try the Baltimore shack. I was just talking with a NY friend over the weekend and he said I had to get the double Smoke Shack (with bacon and diced cherry peppers), so I went with that. Got the wife a single ShackBurger and we split some fries and a caramel shake. Wife (who is from CA so obviously an In-N-Out fiend but also loves Five Guys) said her burger was "meh". I took a bite and I have to say I agree. I really liked the Double Smokeshack, but at $9.50 I'm not sure it's that good. It reminds me of a Five Guys burger but I think I would give a slight edge to Five Guys taste wise, and then when you take into account the fact that Five Guys double is a decent amount cheaper, I think Five Guys takes a comfortable lead. The fries were OK but nothing special. They kind of remind me of the fries we used to get in high school at the cafeteria. Five Guys cajun fries absolutely demolish them and I think I'd also take In-N-Out fries over Shake Shack's. The caramel shake was delicious, but for $5.50 it better be. I think the shakes at In-N-Out are a little over $2, so... yeah. I'm not going to lie, I went from really excited to pretty disappointed quick. I think I ignored Public Enemy at my own peril and bought into the hype. The SmokeShack is pretty great but doesn't justify the price, the regular burger and fries were meh, the shake was great but expensive. I'm sure I'll give it another try but I have a feeling I'll still keep going to Five Guys for the majority of my fast burger fixes. I have been a fan of Shake Shack for a long time and make it point to scope out a location when I travel. We went on a Sunday and got there just after noon. It was crazy busy. We ordered at 12:14 and finally got our meals at 12:49. It was a long wait but since I rarely get Shake Shack, it was worth it. Or so I thought... In their defense, they were slammed. The line was out the door at one point. The fries were good. Hot and cooked perfectly. I tried the new vanilla and black sesame milkshake. Nothing short of amazing! Sort of tasted like a Butterfinger. Now to my burger...I got a plain cheeseburger. I don't want anything else mucking it up. It was so undercooked. Completely pink inside. It would have been futile to attempt to get a new one. I expect my SS burger to be cooked through with some crunch on the sides. Such a disappointment after that wait. Fail, Shake Shack, fail. I have never before been to a Shake Shack. I was warned that the shakes were amazing and that the burgers were tiny. At least I wasn't misinformed. I had the Shackmeister burger, got their fries, and the Black and White shake. The burger is delicious. That cannot be denied. It is also tiny. As a person who can devour three full plates at a buffet, I would not come here solely for a filling meal. BUT, the shake is extremely thick and creamy (and also very delicious) and it filled up the rest of my stomach quite well such that I couldn't finish the shake! (I am also not the biggest fan of thick custard-like dairy products, which didn't help haha). I think for people who enjoy shakes, Shake Shack has no equal. For people who eat small meals, Shake Shack also fits the bill. For me, Shake Shack was an interesting experience that I will probably not repeat on my own, but I would go again with friends for a social or snack hour for sure. P.S. Their fries are delicious too. Perfect example of great customer service, pleasant and positive disposition and hard work. My food took a long time to come out, I wasn't too impressed with their nuggets (super tiny and tasteless) their honey mustard dipping sauce tasted just like mayo. Best part of my meal was the fries. I feel that everyone hyped up this place too much. Everyone was talking of how Shake Shack had the best food, so I went in with high expectations. But I ended up being very disappointed in the end. I got the Shack Meister Burger ( came with straw onions, scallions, and shack sauce), which was the special burger of the day. For the burger to be made right in front of you, my burger was luke warm when received (they were busy with the amount of food that needed to be made, so the burgers were done before the rest of the order was complete). The burger patty was dry, not juicy, and tasted as if it was a frozen patty that you get from the grocery store. The Cheese Fries were good; the fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and the cheese sauce tasted good. I think the highlight of the meal was the Mango Lemonade, it was delicious!!! It would of been nice to have more of the Mango Lemonade, they fill the small cup all the way to the top with ice, and then put in the lemonade. So, you don't get as much lemonade, and theres no refills! Overall, the meal was just OK, I would rather go get a burger and fries from the Five Guys across the street. Sorry! On the other hand, I love that the walls that you sit by are nothing but huge glass windows. It makes you want to look outside the whole time. The staff was very nice and friendly. I have been waiting months for this Baltimore location to open. I've been to several shack shakes in NYC and DC (eaten there at least 15 times) and the Bmore location tasted identical to all my previous experiences. If you are looking for some huge greasy meaty burger with unique toppings--this is not the place for you. If you think what is served as Wendy's or McDonalds can be classified as good burgers--well you are just crazy, but also probably not the place for you. The reason shake shack is so excellent in my opinion is the simplicity of their burgers. No complicated huge bun and just good fresh (never frozen) local beef and perfect produce used in the toppings. The shake sauce is not to be missed by the way. For those who think the meat has no flavor, you are probably only used to meat with tons of fake additives and fillers...just sayin [from the website: 100% all-natural Angus beef, vegetarian fed, humanely raised and source verified. No hormones or antibiotics - EVER. We pride ourselves on sourcing incredible ingredients from like-minded artisanal producers.] Don't even get me started on the fries! I thought the food was awesome. I kind of under estimated this place but I was surprised. The food is kind of expensive. For two burgers, two orders of fries and two drinks and it almost came to $30. I was shocked. This place is crowded, so it's best to order to go. The staff was okay. Not too friendly to be honest. In terms of the burger, it's not too big and not too small. This Shake Shack is in a super convenient location- in the inner harbor, next to chick-fil-a. This means, though, that sometimes there's a line out the door and sometimes only a few people between you and sweet sweet burger goodness. The burgers are the usual awesome. I always feel that the shakes/ concretes are too sweet, so I usually split it with somebody. The only negative I noticed is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The shake shack looked promising. Located nicely in Baltimore, right in the mix of everything. Upon walking in, it was very tight. Not enough space to be able to look at the menu and then order. People were rushed to look over a menu. My wife and I ordered. For two burgers, one fry, and two shakes, it came to $30. We would pay about the same at a five guys or fat urged, so no worries. Do not order the salted butter caramel milkshake. It was HIGHLY recommended by staff, and it was absolutely disgusting. My biggest issue is there was zero places to sit. People without food were grabbing seats and sitting like they weren't leaving for a while. I stood with my food and ate. There was no time limit on seating. So for a semi pricy bill, zero seating, and being rushed to order, my family and I will not return. There are plenty of other businesses closer and without seating issues. read more
