'B' IS FOR BURGER Shake Shack doesn't win any points for originality or value, even though the quality is undeniable. My family and I came here for a quick dinner prior to enjoying 'Rock the Block', an outdoor concert series that Block 59 hosts on Thursdays in the summer.  I'd been to Schaumburg's Shake Shack before (say that five times fast!) but this was my first visit to the location on Route 59 in Naperville. I loved the classic ShackBurger ($10.25 for a double) with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and special sauce on a toasted bun.  The edges of the burger patties were crispy and the toppings were fresh.  I had to unhinge my jaw to take a bite!  A solid 4/5. My wife had good things to say about the avocado bacon burger ($10.50 for a single).  It wasn't the best, but she still gave it a serviceable 3.5/5.  The spicy cheese fries ($7.50) were tasty, crinkle-cut fries topped with cheese sauce and a dusting of cayenne powder w/side of ranch. The sparkling cherry limeade ($6) was VERY tart and seemingly only cherry in color.  I expected something similar to Sonic's cherry-limeade and was taken aback at just how sour this was.  It was refreshing, yet not objectively good.  I wouldn't re-order this. Our son really enjoyed the grilled cheese ($5) and we were grateful to have that as an option.  I liked that they had coloring pages and crayons to keep kids entertained while they waited.  They also have a small selection of beer and canned wine for adults. Now for the 'cons': the dining room was a bit messy and prices are significantly higher than other burger joints.  Culver's remains the gold standard; there, you can get a standalone double cheese for $7.75 or a combo basket (fries + drink) for $12.  We paid $16 for the same thing here. Apparently, they offer a 'shack pack' for $15 which comes with a single burger, fries, and small drink (I only saw this available online, however, not at the ordering kiosk).  This is still quite a bit more than a combo at Freddy's ($11) or Culver's, and the quality isn't so superior as to justify the increase in cost. * TL;DR * Shake Shack is a more-than-viable option for a burger. It's far from the cheapest choice in its class, but if you find yourself in the mood for something between the buns (along with maybe fries & a shake), this is probably your best bet. Shake Shack in Naperville reminded me why this is still one of my favorite spots for a smash burger. I've been plenty of times, but this visit had a few extras that made it especially good. The Double SmokeShack is still GOATED in my book and easily one of my favorite smash burgers anywhere. Two crispy-edged patties, cheese, bacon, tangy cherry pepper relish, and ShackSauce tucked into a soft Martin's potato roll; it's an elite combination. Rich, smoky, tangy, a little spicy, and somehow that pillowy roll holds the whole beautiful mess together. I also took advantage of their Sunday promo where a $10 purchase scored a free Chick'n Shack. Nice little shot at Chick-fil-A being closed on Sundays. The chicken was crispy and juicy, with fresh arugula and a zippy herb mayo that gave it a nice pop. For free? Absolutely no complaints. Then there was the limited-time Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake. Thick, creamy, chocolatey, loaded with pistachio flavor, and topped with that satisfying crackable chocolate shell. Definitely indulgent, but ridiculously good. Service was friendly and quick, and everything came out fresh and hot. Shake Shack isn't the cheapest burger stop around, but the Double SmokeShack reminds me exactly why I keep coming back. That combination of ShackSauce, cherry pepper relish, bacon, crispy patties, and Martin's potato roll just hits. Add a free chicken sandwich and a killer Dubai chocolate shake, and this visit was an easy win. read more

First time eating at Shake Shack. Likely will not return. There are only kiosks to order from. That's beyond annoying, especially when I do not know what I am doing. No where to order ketchup, water, other sauces to go. They give you a number for the to go orders, but there were no to go number placards. We had to ask. No ketchup or napkins in the bag. They should inform you if where to get those things for your other, or they should put it I the bag for you. The water really irks me too. As for the food, my son really enjoyed the burger, he got a double with cheese only. I ordered the single shack burger. The lettuce was wilted from the heat of the burger, gross, there was one tiny Roma tomato slice and the bun was just full of butter abs grease. Not for me. The fries were terrible. No salt. My son also loved the shake, but it was $6.50 which is a lot. The whole bill was $31ish. A double, single, fry and a shake. Overpriced for me. read more

Went to check out their special Korean menu items. I had the K-Shack fried chicken sandwich, and hubby had the K-Shack BBQ cheeseburger. One word. YUM! The Korean sauce is just the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and the Kimchi slaw is out of this world. We split an order of regular fries; they were piping hot, and delish. Unpopular opinion here, but Shake Shack was a solid 4 stars for me! My husband and I ordered via the website and overall it was fine with the exception of actually paying. For some reason it took forever for the payment to go through. I stayed home while my husband picked up our order but he said everything was ready once he got there. I ordered the shack burger (single) well done. I do like that I was able to pick which temperature I wanted my burger cooked. Most fast food places don't have that option. There was a little pink which was a bummer, so I picked those parts off. Flavor wise everything was delicious. Their sauce brings everything together perfectly. We also shared fries which were crispy enough. I like the shape of their fries but wish there was a little more omph to em. Alright, let's talk about this new burger joint, Shake Shack. Soon as you walk in, the vibe is chill--got that cool energy without trying too hard. I've always been a fan of Shake Shack for many years. I was very happy to hear they opened up a location in Naperville. Today was the day that I was able to check it out. The location is very open and clean. There is counter to order your food, and there were 4 stations to order from a self kiosk. When I arrived, it looked like 3 of them were not working but I did place my order through these machines. I ordered the double Shack burger, fried pickles, and a soda. I was sad to see there were no self service soda stations. However, the fried pickles were delicious and as well as the burger. Overall, the food is just has good as I remember and very consistent between locations. I will be back in the future. read more

This was my second time having shake shack and they had a limited edition Dubai shake. I opted for the mushroom burgers and it was delicious. The Dubai shake was worth the hype! It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and it had a good amount of kanafeh in every sip! read more

I finally don't have to drive my kid far to take her to shake shack now that it's on 59. Ten minutes of driving tops. The food was as good as it always is. It's still new'ish so we expected some missteps but there were none. It's been a while since I had food delivered to my table at SS. Usually we pick up our own, but here they brought it to us. The customer service was nice here. The space was bright and clean. A good experience overall for fast food PS If you get a shack burger without the shack sauce and cheese, the calories are doable. The workers would not accommodate my friend with celiac disease. They said that she would have to wait 20-30 minutes to get just a milkshake or not get one at all even though they said cleaning the blender would only take 3-4 minutes. This was my first time at Shake Shack as a new location just opened by us. My son has been wanting to go and we tried to go on Saturday evening but it was completely packed, which was understandable considering it's only been open for about 2 weeks. We decided to come back at opening time on Monday instead to avoid any crowds, and a few others had the same idea. I really like the clean, modern and simple atmosphere here. We used the kiosk to order and it was really easy. It seems like they have a lot of promo codes on the website, so be sure to check there before visiting...I ordered a free bacon avocado burger. While waiting for our food, an employee came to tell us that they were out of the shake I ordered, but she offered a substitution and gave me a $5 coupon for our next visit. Our food was delivered in about 10 minutes and could have been a little warmer than it was. My son and I both thought our burgers and shared order of cheese fries were decent, but we prefer other places for this type of food. The shakes were great though. All I ordered was a single patty Korean BBQ burger. I ordered it with added bacon, avocado, and lettuce and an Oreo shake. Coming out to a hefty $22.24. At first, a lady handed me it, saying I ordered the crispy chicken version. We said no we ordered the burger version. She came back to window and asked single or double? We said single and that the man ordering the burger in the first place asked the same thing and we ordered single. Then we received the burger and started to drive off, my husband said to check because it felt light to him. Lo and behold, it was now missing the patty! Now we had to drive back around and wait in a line just for the patty! We tell her at the intercom and she laughs because she also thought it was a weird error for the kitchen. About 10 minutes later we get to the window and she says sorry and hands a couple $5 off cards and says she added a free fry, but my goodness that's a lot to go through for a $10+ burger. There is a giant sign at this establishment that tells you to ask a manager about allergy options. So my teen did so. She asked to see a manager. The employee said they'd could do what she needed so she started to explain about her gluten allergy when they essentially shut down and refused to do any of the precautions (like wiping surfaces or cleaning a blender for a shake) when they had basically just told her that is what they would do. They said they were too busy for all that. I guess they assumed her allergy was peanuts or something, else because this response didn't happened until gluten was mentioned. She stated this is why she initially wanted to speak with a manager because the gluten allergy is a bit complicated and she wanted to know what was safe. We tried ordering their limited time items and they no longer had them in stock either. When I asked about it, all I was told is that the period was over. They had been open for maybe a couple weeks at that point, and maybe its just me, but arent limited time items usually available for a month or two at least? I mean that seems pretty standard. I stopped by tonight to get three milkshakes. Normally, the staff asks if you'd like whipped cream, but this time no one did, so I assumed it came with it. When I got to the window and saw there wasn't any, I politely asked for whipped cream and said I didn't mind paying extra. The employee rudely told me I should've asked earlier, then called over a manager who also refused to help. They said it was "too late" to add it and didn't even try to find a solution. Just tried shake shack for the first time, almost $50 for 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 shakes!!!! The burgers were meaty which I liked, but they tasted the same as any other smash burger (steak n shake, Freddy's) cheese fries were crispy and the cheese was good but they were stingey with it. McDonald's fries are better. Vanilla shake and Oreo shake were ok, nothing special. The ShackSauce they put on the burgers is good. The people at the window were super nice!
