Unpopular opinion here, but Shake Shack was a solid 4 stars for me! My husband and I ordered via the website and overall it was fine with the exception of actually paying. For some reason it took forever for the payment to go through. I stayed home while my husband picked up our order but he said everything was ready once he got there. I ordered the shack burger (single) well done. I do like that I was able to pick which temperature I wanted my burger cooked. Most fast food places don't have that option. There was a little pink which was a bummer, so I picked those parts off. Flavor wise everything was delicious. Their sauce brings everything together perfectly. We also shared fries which were crispy enough. I like the shape of their fries but wish there was a little more omph to em. The location is very open and clean. There is counter to order your food, and there were 4 stations to order from a self kiosk. When I arrived, it looked like 3 of them were not working but I did place my order through these machines. I ordered the double Shack burger, fried pickles, and a soda. I was sad to see there were no self service soda stations. However, the fried pickles were delicious and as well as the burger. This was my first time at Shake Shack as a new location just opened by us. My son has been wanting to go and we tried to go on Saturday evening but it was completely packed, which was understandable considering it's only been open for about 2 weeks. We decided to come back at opening time on Monday instead to avoid any crowds, and a few others had the same idea. I really like the clean, modern and simple atmosphere here. We used the kiosk to order and it was really easy. It seems like they have a lot of promo codes on the website, so be sure to check there before visiting...I ordered a free bacon avocado burger. While waiting for our food, an employee came to tell us that they were out of the shake I ordered, but she offered a substitution and gave me a $5 coupon for our next visit. Our food was delivered in about 10 minutes and could have been a little warmer than it was. My son and I both thought our burgers and shared order of cheese fries were decent, but we prefer other places for this type of food. The shakes were great though. There is a giant sign at this establishment that tells you to ask a manager about allergy options. So my teen did so. She asked to see a manager. The employee said they'd could do what she needed so she started to explain about her gluten allergy when they essentially shut down and refused to do any of the precautions (like wiping surfaces or cleaning a blender for a shake) when they had basically just told her that is what they would do. They said they were too busy for all that. I guess they assumed her allergy was peanuts or something, else because this response didn't happened until gluten was mentioned. The burgers were meaty which I liked, but they tasted the same as any other smash burger (steak n shake, Freddy's) cheese fries were crispy and the cheese was good but they were stingey with it. Well, tonight we wanted to try out Shake shack at the new Block 59 in Naperville, We had passed it by many times, our go to place has been Portillos and after trying Shake Shack its not going to change.
