Okay, so I actually came here like a few years ago but that was with the old ownership, and the food then was mediocre. We decided to give this place another try and that was before I knew of the new ownership. I say this because the staff is new when we went this past Wed. We ordered Texas jalapeño double, onion rings, Cajun fries, and chicken wings. Everything was made fresh. She made my burger like how I wanted it, it was juicy. The burger is much bigger than it looks in the picture btw for a double. You can order a single patty. The jalapeño poppers gave it a nice taste, it wasn't spicy at all. The onion rings were okay, I think I'll skip that next time. The Cajun fries were tasty, not too salty. The chicken wings were flavorful on the outside and I love how these wings are meaty. Are you craving a REAL burger? Burger City will not disappoint! Trust me I know from experience because this was my first time here and I will be coming back. I order a Cajun Fry & a Cajun burger (lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper jack cheese and cajun seasoning beef patty-spicy*). I balanced it out with a fruit cup (usually comes with pineapple as well). The burger was not super greasy but it was also not dry as looks due to the cajun rub seasoning lol good medium. I like my burgers medium well this one looked perfectly well done so I had no complaints. Bun amazing and buttery, all veggies are fresh. The fries are fantastic enough to get its own paragraph in this review ;). They come with ranch. 10 out 10 recommend. I should have gotten a double, It was so good. read more

First, the food...the Hawaiian burger was tasty. The Texas burger lacked some heat but was good. The burgers were good sized, juicy and well seasoned. The Cajun fries were HOT, like I need another soda to get these down. Skip the sweet potato fries and just get the regular ones. Pretty typical burger spot. Extremely disappointing experience that makes me think the 5 star reviews are fake. If you're only making burgers they should be fresh and delicious. These were the kind of frozen beef patties you get from Costco. Mine was under cooked and cool and very pink in the center. I had ordered the Cajun burger because it was described as seasoned but it was just an under cooked frozen patty sprinkled with Cajun seasoning. Had it been made fresh you'd mix the seasonings in before cooking. The fries were not good, the ketchup was watered down and the place looked cold, uninviting and kind of grimy. Whoever said this place had "great ambiance" was clearly paid. I don't know where the picture of a homemade burger patty on their site came from but that's not what they serve here. read more

Ok, this place is nothing to look at. A burger joint in a strip mall. Counter service, a few tables with cheap plastic table cloths, styrofoam boxes, and plastic forks. I'm not coming here for date night. But I am coming back for the burgers! The gentleman behind the counter was polite and served up my burger quickly. I got the Egg That Burger, and he substituted provolone for American cheese at my request. And I can't recall when I had a burger this good! Service was good, Burger Appearance was very good but the overall taste was okay. In my opinion this burger fall in between McDonald's and Portillo's. We stopped at Burger City on a Saturday at 11:45. My husband ordered a fish sandwich meal and I just ordered a hot dog. There was 1 person in line ahead of us. Three more customers ordered and received their food before we did. 25 minutes later our order came up. It was probably the worst hotdog that i have ever had. It was so rubbery that it was difficult to bite. I would guess that a plastic knife would not have been able to cut through it. My husband could hear a crunch from the tomatoes across the table. It happens to be one of these small local places in Lisle. Get almost any kind you can think of including plant based choices. The prices aren't bad for high quality. I came here with the girl to each get a burger. One good thing about the smaller menu is it's easier to pick something. This wasn't a problem to begin with. Beyond Burgers were the ones we wanted and came for. It's about $10 for one. This comes with American cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise, onions, pickles, and tomatoes. Can be made vegan without cheese and mayonnaise. This also comes in a combo where adding a few extra bucks gets fries too. Burgers here out the wazoo, some meaty and some plant based. When paying with a card, I have to make a decision on if I want to tip the guy before anything starts. How about not putting the customer on the spot like that? This unassuming little burger shop in a strip mall in Green Trails sure turns out a tasty meal! My parents both got regular hamburgers and I got the Two-step chicken sandwich (grilled chicken glazed with bbq sauce, topped with onion rings and smoked provolone). Juicy and saucy are pertinent words for both! In fact we used up an indecent amount of napkins. They got regular fries, I got sweet potato fries, and both were yummy! Only down side to eating in was that it was absolutely freezing in here! (It was very cold out today...but not much better inside.) To begin, I am going to give you some pointers. I pulled into this strip mall specifically looking for this restaurant. The strip mall has 2 sides: the west side and the north side. This place is on the north portion and almost in the corner and not easy to find. It is very small. Then, when you walk in, you place your order at the back on the left side. There are about 4 tables on the right side and a counter across the front window with stools. More conducive to carry-out. Also, check out the menu before you enter because the hanging menu is at a funny angle and rather difficult to read but there are menus available at the register. If it were busy, ordering may cause delays if you do not know what you want. My burger was juicy and delicious. You can specify the toppings you want and they are fresh ~ no green tomatoes here. It takes a few minutes which is a good thing, nothing is sitting under a heat lamp waiting for your specifics to be added. In addition to burgers they serve chicken sandwiches, wings, salads, fish, and soup. Burger was juicy and very messy ~ the way a burger should be. Forget McDonald's and Culvers and head here. read more

This place is solid. I've been here twice. The burgers are "flame-broiled" so it's similar to Burger King and Portillo's in how it's cooked. That happens to be 2 places I like. The brioche bun is nice and soft, really quite tasty. I've had the regular hamburger and the Cajun burger. They were both pretty good. The Cajun burger had a little more flavor but not to spicy. Happened to be out in the burbs today and yelped some local places... And stopped by here. So much adventure in one day, I know. This is living in the edge. Well, at burger city they have tons of options, and especially for vegetarians, they have both impossible and beyond burgers. Additionally, they actually have a portabella mushroom burger and even a grilled cheese. Needless to say, that was awesome to see. Secondly, the guy behind the counter who was doing all the cooking was super-friendly. We had a nice chat about the two different - age-old discussion about Beyond vs. Impossible. He told us that Impossible taste more like meat and it also sells a lot more in their store. That was pretty cool to hear from him about a place that's selling both and you're able to compare simultaneously. So we did that taste test. We ordered one of each and split them. Now, the only thing I'll say is they did include these smoked onions with the Impossible that weren't on the Beyond version for some reason. That additional flavor kind of makes it unfair, but it was a fun thing to do regardless. I'll say the Beyond pattie is jucier than the impossible. The Beyond pattie does seem to have a bit of it's own flavor that is quite distinct. I think the Impossible pattie sort of blends in with the rest. Outstanding customer service, employees are extremely personable and helpful. The food is good quality and the menu has many options, including several vegetarian sandwiches. If you like Beyond Burgers you will be happy to see that they are on the menu. I had the portobello pesto which was served on a delicious tomato focaccia bun. The fries were hot and fresh. I was checking out a yarn shop in the strip mall yesterday and they were having a knitting and crocheting event and giving out 50% off ice cream coupons to burger city. After reading some reviews of this place, I decided to try it out myself for lunch. It's a cute trendy burger and shake place that has a lot to offer. The ambiance was what I would describe as a fusion of traditional burger joint and modern aesthetic. I was greeted by very friendly service the moment I walked in and the men working there looked genuinely happy to be there. I am confident that if I couldn't decide which thing to order, they would have asked me questions (like "which sandwich do you identify with most" style questions) to help me decide. I found one on the menu that sounded interesting and ordered the Maui Chicken Sandwich and a side of fries and a drink. The chicken sandwich was delicious (8/10) with a really good sauce, 2 generous pineapple slices, lettuce, a well seasoned chicken breast, and a burger bun. The fries weren't blowing me away, but they were still good fries. Thick cut and salted. Fries were a 6/10. They had a good selection of beverages for the soda fountain. They also offered bottles of Sprechter root beer and cream soda, and something else I can't remember. I got ginger ale from the fountain and ate inside. The a/c was working well and I was the only person in there for a while. The men working there engaged with me for friendly banter. About 20 minutes later, it started getting busy and customers were saying how delicious everything tasted. I'm not from the Lisle area, but my friend lives about 4 minutes away from that restaurant and I had her meet me and she said she had been wanting to try this place. I saved her some fries and she likes thick cut salted fries the way I like well seasoned curly fries, and said she'd be back to try more next time.
