Best food in the court. Everything is prepared to order. Meal is ready fast and hot. Menu is ridiculous; there's a burger for everyone. Fries are fantastic. Worth every cent.

The mixed burger meal SO GOOD

I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years, visiting about three times a month, and I always order the same thing: the Famous Chicken Gyro (#14, no tomatoes) with a fresh, made-to-order sack of fries. Until now, I have never had a problem. On 12/15 at approximately 5:10 PM, I came in and ordered my usual and dined in. When I bit into the gyro, after getting past the honey mustard, the chicken was hard, crusty, and completely dried out--clearly overcooked from sitting too long on the rotisserie. While disappointing, I didn't make a big deal out of it. I finished my fries, which were still hot and fresh, and calmly showed the cashier the gyro. I spoke quietly and respectfully and explained that the chicken wasn't good. She was polite and said they would remake it. I thanked her several times and explained that I normally don't complain, but I was hungry and on a short lunch break. I asked if I could take the replacement to go since I was running late. As I grabbed my jacket and returned to the counter, I overheard the cashier telling the two cooks something along the lines of, "It's not like that--he's a nice guy and comes here all the time." I took this as her trying to explain that I wasn't trying to get free food, just that the gyro had been poorly prepared. When I returned to work and opened the replacement gyro, I was shocked. There was a broom bristle placed inside the chicken gyro, hidden under a large amount of honey mustard. I have spent a significant amount of money at this business over the years, and I am beyond angry and disappointed. Putting what appears to be a dirty broom bristle--used to clean floors--into a customer's food is unacceptable, unsanitary, and malicious. Because of how this was handled and how I was treated, I will never return. I am filing complaints and sharing this experience publicly so others are aware. This is not about a bad gyro--it's about employee behavior and food safety, and I hope ownership takes this seriously.

Wow! This place REALLY surprised us…read more We were looking for something different from the usual burgers, pizza, and tacos routine after my girlfriend mentioned she'd been craving gyros. Naturally, I started searching for places nearby, and while there was no shortage of options, Nicky's immediately stood out. Their photos looked incredibly well presented, with gyro meat piled high and genuinely generous portions. When we arrived just before 7 PM, the parking lot was nearly full, and after our experience, I can absolutely see why. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They could tell it was our first visit and happily walked us through the menu, answering every question with genuine warmth and patience. The food itself was excellent. Everything came out piping hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The gyro meat was tender without being overly fatty or dry. The hand-cut fries were especially impressive, perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. The onion rings and mozzarella sticks were equally well executed. The real showstopper, though, was the imported Greek baklava. I've had baklava from many different regions and styles over the years, and this was easily some of the best I've ever had. Rich, syrupy, incredibly flavorful, with a heavier note of cinnamon layered throughout that made it truly stand out. The menu is expansive, covering all the classic greasy spoon favorites you'd hope for, and the restaurant itself was clean, bright, and bustling with people clearly enjoying themselves. Near the end of our meal, the same staff member who helped us at the counter came by to check on us and ask if we needed anything else, which was a really nice touch. She also mentioned this is the original family-owned location, and honestly, that care and pride really shows. Overall, a fantastic first experience, and we're very glad we decided to stop in. We'll definitely be back soon to try more of the menu.

BLUE COLLAR MAN A…read morehard day's work demands a hearty lunch. Halsted Street Dawgs is a relatively new counter service joint on Weber Rd in Romeoville. They're situated on the south end of strip mall home to a Rosati's and a Subway. They opened in mid-April 2024 (the space used to be All Star Diner) and the banner outside almost seems temporary. Hopefully they're here for more than just a short stint because..... The gyros sandwich ($8) was great with a good portion of seasoned gyro meat, onions, tomato, and tzadziki. Fries were fine, same style as Mcdonalds and just as salty, which I liked. I'm typically a crinkle cut guy, though these tasted better than they looked. The 'dinger' ($10) disappointingly did not come with fries--as all other hot dogs did--but I still enjoyed it. This unique Southside item is a tamale inside a chili cheese dog with onions and sport peppers. Though tasty, I wouldn't get this again (ridiculously carb-heavy) and will stick with a loaded chili cheese dawg on future visits. Both times I've stopped in for lunch, they had JERRY SPRINGER on TV! Maury and Dr Phil might be super trashy television, but they'll never match the hair-pulling, chair-throwing WTF insanity of the Jerry f*cking Springer show. * TL;DR * Not all of us have the luxury of taking a 'business lunch'; most of the time we've gotta grab-N-go before our boss texts us "where are you?" Hole-in-the-wall places like this serving hot dogs/gyros/etc are some of my favorite ones to hit up around midday. There's usually a few solid menu items and stereotypically gruff counter service, plus a bevy of customers that look like they just finished 1st shift at the construction site. It's always nice to have a place like Halsted Street Dawgs around.

This was a prime dinner time, in the 6 o'clock hour. Had a gyro with fries. The fries were way overly salty. To the point where they were almost inedible. I can understand now why they were not busy. It looked like there were two high school kids running the place. Not sure what's going on, but it's not good.

I walked up to the window and a gentleman took my order. I decided to go for a hot dog with mustard, relish and onion (they apparently also offer ketchup and a special sauce) along with a can of coke. I took my order, snapped a picture of the truck so I could remember all of the relevant information and headed to my friends apartment to try this hot dog out. The hot dog I received came on a slightly dry regular non-poppy seed bun. The application of mustard was a bit heavy, but the relish and onions were well applied. The relish used was not the standard neon green Chicago style relish, as a result this relish was a tad more sour than most. The sausage itself was a skinless hot dog, and was well heated. This is my first food truck review, as I spot more food trucks I may do more. While the hot dog wasn't great by restaurant standards I didn't go in with high expectations. As a result I wasn't really disappointed. At only 1.99 for the hot dog, the price wasn't too bad. I can't say I'd recommend it, but if you like food trucks it would be worth stopping at. Perhaps I'll stop again and try the special sauce on a dog.
