The sunset hills location- the staff was very friendly. We had gone in for free burgers promotion w a purchase. We ordered shake shack burgers for free along w fries with cheese sauce & a chocolate malt. The restaurant was busy & it took a while to place our order & get our food. The place was clean & decorated for Christmas. The reason for the 3 star review- the food is nothing special. The burgers were meh. The fries were crinkle cut & the cheese sauce had a strange flavor. Its rather pricey for subpar food. Burgers normally $7.50. Fried were 5$ plus $1 for cheese sauce. The malt was $7ish w tax. For 2 people to eat its at least $30. For that price i would rather go to an actual bar n grill w a server. The guy who took our order was very nice as well as the food runner. He apologized for the long wait. read more

We stopped by Shake Shack for a quick weekday lunch with kids. This location only had iPad ordering available when you walk in but the staff still made it personal walking around checking on everyone. We got two burgers, a hot dog, fries to share, and a shake. Even with a free fry coupon it was still pretty pricey for one adult and two kids but we enjoyed our meal! read more

I hadn't been to this location before. Today, I came in for a late lunch. There were only 4 customers at 1 table and 4 more ordering at the kiosks. The dining room is much smaller than the CWE or Ladue locations. This one was clean and neat and had the drinking fountain and condiments at the counter. My meal came out quickly. A teeny Asian woman cheerfully brought my food to my table. I dove into my cheese fries and immediately was disappointed. I should have returned them but I thought maybe those first couple were just off, but, no, they were JUST. TOO. OLD. I ended up tossing those. My bacon cheeseburger was fine. Disappointing, especially since the kitchen knew and decided it was okay to serve me subpar food. read more

First time in Shake Shack Sunset Hills, I hadn't seen the way the renovation from Fuddruckers had been done and I was shocked in the beginning that they had only taken over what had been the back half of Fuddruckers. It was small! But after we ordered and got seated, it made sense, there was plenty of room in the dining room and the other locations I have been in haven't been that large. You walk in and there is a counter perhaps not for ordering, and a table with order tablets, six, I think. We placed our order and found a table. You get a table number and type that in when you place your order. Food came out pretty quickly; the orders were correct. The burgers and fries were decent. Service, is pretty good, but you order on your own with Ipad type devices as you walk in. It is easy to use but some folks might find it difficult or may not like that process. Food is GREAT! Just pricey is the only negative. Burgers melt with flavor, while the buns keep you wishing for more. Lots of customization options along with their Shake Sauce which is also great with their fries. I saw the sign going up and was excited to try it. The day came to finally try it. My husband and I both had the smash burgers with double the burgers with our own personal preference variation for toppings. They have their own sauce for their burgers but I think I would much rather have mayo, ketchup and mustard instead. We both liked our burgers though. He ordered fries with some seasoning on top. I ordered mine with fried pickles. I tried the seasoned fries and it was fairly good. I liked my fried pickles better though especially with the ranch dressing. Staff did get our orders correctly which is a plus. Our order was delivered quickly as well. How does this place work? If you're like me and a first time visitor, I wasn't sure what the deal was. No wait service. You come in, place your order electronically via touch screens, take a number and get a table. Their staff brings you the food, plastic ware, straws, and some napkins. Pretty simple. Then you bus your table. There are tables outside as well. Oh and their menu consists of doggy food items so if your fury friend wants to come along, you can get them a little snack as well. Just make sure it's not hellfire outside. I don't know if they allow dogs in their patio so might be good to confirm before bringing your buddy along. It's a decent fast food place. Been wanting to go for a while so today we were in the area and gave it a try. Place was clean, busy and staff was friendly. Food was incredibly overpriced and underwhelming. Single cheeseburger, fries, chocolate shake, Korean burger, Korean fries and a soda for $43. Nothing special or remarkable about anything. The Korean bbq sauce was good and the fries were crispy but it was pretty basic. Burger was small and average. The chocolate shake was terrible and the proportion of shake mix to milk/ice cream was way off. Tasted like dark chocolate which I love but this was a weird artificial powdered formula like taste so it was not good. Could've gone to Twisted Tree for lunch at that price and had much better food. I was there on opening day and received a 5 dollar gift card?? WOW, Was i dissapointed!! I mean for your 1st day Grand Opening shake shack couldn't offer a free burger of choice?? I ate there that day and food was good and hot when served and eaten. I saved the wonderful 5 bonus card for a later date, then to find out the card expires in 30 days!!! Burger was good, about what you would expect from a burger joint. I had the smoke shack with spicy fries and a Dubai chocolate shake. The food was decent, but definitely not worth the high price. Burger was $14 Spicy fries were 5.00 but they were just regular crinkle cut fries with some season salt dumped on, not covered or evenly distributed. The shake was almost $10. That price is excessive. The taste was good, but this meal should not cost more than $20. Meal was almost $30. For that price you can go to any restaurant and get a better gourmet burger. read more

Went into the store and ordered on the kiosk as a take out, ordered a chicken sandwich and an avocado bacon burger and got two burgers.. one which was a double and another that just had cheese and onion.. we also order garlic parm fries which is supposed to come with garlic aioli which was also not in the bag. The burgers were tasteless on top of being wrong. We then called shake shack to ask about getting a refund.. (we accidentally called the wrong store) and the manager was more than accommodating at De Peres to find our order and contact corporate who would issue a refund.. this man then called us back to inform us we accidentally called the wrong location and so when we called the correct location.. sunset hills, the person who answered the phone who sounded annoyed already tried to say he would not refund us unless we drove all the way back to sunset hills (we live in ballwin) to issue the refund. Not sure how one store was more than capable of issuing the refund (had we ordered there) but this guy wouldn't help at all without use driving all the way back. Also would like to note we waited almost 30-40 minutes for us to get our completely incorrect order while one of the employees decided to seat down and eat his own food while we waited to get ours! even though there was no one else inside waiting for orders.. terrible experience. Terrible costumer service! Terrible food. If one location would've been able to look up the order and issue the refund so should that one..
