Stopped by for lunch on a busy afternoon during the after holidays while the kids were still out on break. Waited a little extra at the front while the gal did some lobby chores (no biggie). This location has been around forever and is still in good shape. They keep it clean but the lobby does get very crowded while dining in. I stopped by my friendly neighborhood lion's choice restaurant for a roast beef sandwich, Saw the signboard on the menu, and decided on getting brisket instead. It's available in many different sizes starting at 4 oz and going up from there. Served on two pieces of toasted bread and a nice piece of melted cheese on top. I was expecting it to be a sliced but it came out chopped which turned out to be okay because it was quite tasty and very tender. It was tasty enough that I did not have to add any barbecue sauce to it. My only negative comment is probably that it was a little on the salty side. I had high hopes for this place. I am in town on a family trip and thought I would give a local chain a try. I got a chocolate milkshake with the french dip. This is one of my favorite sandwiches. There was nothing special about theirs! It was just bread and some meat. There was no onions or any offer of toppings. It did come with a small cup of the au jus. Unfortunately most of it spilled in the bag. There was nothing special about the flavor of it or the sandwich. It didnt have much seasoning at all. It wasnt a bad sandwich. It was just very plain. The meal couldnt even be saved by a milkshake. It was not mixed properly (See Photo's) The first drink was pure chocolate syrup. I love chocolate but not all in the first sip....lol.... It looks like a swirl of chocolate and vanilla. The place itself was fairly clean and the employees were polite. There is no drive through. My experience Unfortunately was just underwhelming to say the least. Its too bad because who doesn't love a beef sandwich! First of all , I love lions choice. Food is always delicious and they accommodate gluten free options. I've always had a good experience at this location and the location on Hanley rd. Workers are always friendly. Tonight is Halloween and I just got off of work and was hoping I could get some food before they closed at 11pm. I showed up at lions choice at 10:55pm and Raymond and marques were very kind about serving me. I appreciate them making my food so close to closing - they were really kind about it. Stopped by here about a month ago, and Arbys can not compare to this place. The roast beef is delicious, and its real roast beef. Its medium rare unless you ask for something else, and isn't dry tasting. I wish I had one of these restraunts in my area compared to Arbys, same price but so much better tasting. The service is astounding, and the food was ready rather quickly. I would definitely eat here again when I'm in the area. Not bad food if you want to pile on a lot of extras on your roast beef sandwiches. Personally, I think your prices are high for what they give you, but if you got the money spend it personally I think they can give you a little more roast beef on your sandwich for what they charge you. I dip my sandwich into BBQ sauce. The meat is thinly sliced and seasoned. The roast beef is rare, if you want it well done just ask. If you do not want the seasoning, just ask. They accommodate all special requests (like extra seasoning for me). One of the best parts of the sandwich is the butter steamed bun. They steam the bun with butter for a few seconds before assembling the sandwich. Fries are great. Veggie sticks are also good. A favorite for locals in STL. read more

I just got home. Haven't even tried the food but I am totally disgusted with the customer service at this location. The girl working the counter, young girl wearing a blue St. Louis University hoodie, couldn't not have been more rude and unwelcoming if she tried. A truly horrid experience. I realize you are short staffed, and a sign welcomed me saying "we are closing tonight at 8pm" (on a Friday night) but if you can't provide a better customer experience than this, perhaps you shouldn't even open at all. They have a variety of dipping sauces including chipotle ranch, sweet BBQ, hot BBQ, horseradish, and ketchup. They also have dispensable au ju sauce to dip your sandwich in. My boyfriend and I love roast beef, and St. Louis knows roast beef. Lions choice is great for a quick meal. You have multiple cheese options which is awesome, but the meat can be a little dry. Locals will tell you to get the au jus to dip, I'm a little iffy on that because if I wanted a French dip, that's what I would order, but a roast beef should naturally be moist. There's definitely some better textured roast beef around, and places that load their sandwiches with more meat. Prices are pretty on point for a roast beef sandwich. My favorite part is the 50 cent dipped ice cream cone, the best way to end your meal. This place is a St. Louis classic and is super convenient, so I recommend it for everyone to try at least once. Okay, I know I know. Why write a review for a fast food restaurant. I usually don't unless something definitely stands out. First of all Lion's Choice is one of my all-time favorites. If you think that all "roast beef" sandwiches are the same you are mistaken. There is a reason everyone craves it. We've dined at this location for the last few weeks on a Tuesday night after my daughter's soccer practice. The service was impeccable. Each and every evening we've been greeted with a smile and wonderful attentiveness. I think in this day and age it is rare to find manners and politeness in a fast food restaurant. Overall the classic roast beef with swiss is my favorite and you doctor it up anyway you like. My favorite is with au jus and horsey sauce! Its even crazy to mention it but get the "crushed ice". I love Lion's Chioce, even though I have never tried their flagship roast beef sandwich. Their fries are great, milkshakes are very good, and I always get a hot ham sandwich, which I love with a little horseradish sauce and honey mustard--Lion's Choice is a condiments lover's dream. I will admit it isn't the most consistent place, but usually all 3 of those things are at least good, if not delicious. Staff is generally nice too, other than the cashier that was there last week and argued with me when I tried tried to order the "original" size. The menu has 3 sizes for meal: original, large, and king. She kept asking me if I meant "regular", and I said, "I don't know what regular is, but your menu says original, and that's what I want." It was funny that she said she wasn't trying to be argumentative, which she clearly was...she knew exactly what I meant. It ws kind of annoying.
