I recently gave them a try. I ordered a double cheeseburger, fries and a strawberry shake. The bill including tax came in at just over $17. Wow. One of their claims to fame is the "proprietary" (i.e., secret) blend of meat that they use in their burger. I have to say . . . that worked! The meat was fresh, juicy and delicious. Color me impressed. It is a shame they overcooked it. They claim to cook their burgers medium, but either they had a new cook on this day or they do not know what medium is. It was medium-well bordering very closely on well done. Cannot say that I was surprised, as this seems to be so common these days. Still, it is disappointing. The fries (krinkle cut style) were very tasty, but overpriced. The portion was really only large enough for one, in contrast to the also-delicious fries from Five Guys which for a similar price gets you more than enough fries for two people - maybe even three. Interestingly enough for a place called "Shake Shack," the shake was easily the weakest link in this meal. A thin, child-sized, $5.25 shake (shades of pulp fiction) that was "OK" but nothing special and nowhere near worth the price. If/when I go back, I will not be ordering any more shakes. Disappointing and overpriced. We got a cheeseburger and the bun was soggy with their special sauce. We also ordered a bacon cheeseburger and chicken sandwich....both over-salty and seemed small for what you pay for. Fries were decent-- crunchy crinkle cut. I finally decided to give this place a try after going to the Shake Shack right outside of Yards Park in DC over the weekend.... I wouldn't say it was like night and day, but it was definitely not the same experience. We ordered the exact same thing we did over the weekend, yet we didn't leave with the same good feeling (bacon double cheeseburger, double shack burger and cheese fries). Fries were the same, yummy, but the burgers just weren't as good. Both my husband and I felt the exact same way. As for everything else - the staff was fine, the inside is pretty small, and there are no bathrooms so you have to go into the mall. There are quiet a few tables outside, and if you have a kid, the play structure right next door is nice. One annoying thing though, they buzzed my pager which usually means your food is ready for pickup, right? So I walk to the counter and my food isn't even ready! They were literally still cooking the fries! Why buzz me to have me stand there for 5 more minutes? Annoying. I'm not sure if I'd eat here again since the food was just meh....maybe it was a different/new cook or an off day, who knows. Tyson's has so many other food options, that this place doesn't even make my top 10. read more

The shack burger is delicious with the shack sauce but a bit on the small side for the price. The crinkle fries are great, but the cheese tastes a bit artificial. I've been to this location plenty of times since we only live about 10 minutes away and each time something seems to be missing. I alternate take-out and dine-in. We tell the cashier to include the hamburger condiments with my ShakeBurger i.e lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onion; one or more normally do not make it in. Towards the end of October 2015, it was after work around 7pm/et and I was HANGRY and really wanted a burger ( took it to go). Looking in the bag when my order was up everything looked semi-in order. My Husband ordered the SmokeShake which was sans all the condiments and we told an employee and they put the veggies in a bag on the side. After that we headed home. Once home, I proceeded to unwrap my burger and take my first bite to discover a hair! I see that the employees wear gloves and hairnets, but I understand that these things still happen. In my hangry-state I was really upset and wanted to throw the whole burger out, but having went hours without food I decided to just rip the part of the bun that was in contact. Later that night, I wrote to Shake Shack customer support and received a response from the manager of the store 48hrs later. They advised they would look into the situation and comp my next meal. It is now November and I am still waiting for my gift certificate. With that said, I will not be returning for a while. read more

there burger's aren't really that different but there chicken sandwich is delicious! there cheese fry's are very good but you do need to ask for extra cheese on the fry's there curly, crunchy, and they have a good crunch! i will say there milk shakes are alright i had the chocolate it was id rate 3 star's.My boyfriend gets the lettuce wrap he love's it every time we go. read more

Cheese fries were delicious, but if you're going to share with someone make sure to add for extra cheese. And unfortunately my single patty was a tad cold (the bun was warmer than the meat) but I was way too hungry to get back up and walk through the tight packed area to wait for a new one. Thankfully the delicious chocolate shake made up for it, and a small is just that...definitely a small. The burgers taste good, but they're a lot smaller than we expected them to be. I think any dude would appreciate the double stacked one vs the single. Also it was cold out so Everyone wanted to sit inside, and it's pretty small inside, so while my bf ordered I had to hover around people eating hoping for someone to get up soon. Had my first Burger from this place 19 Feb. It was a lunch run by a co-worker, so hey why not. First off pass on the fries because there is nothing special about them. The burger wasn't bad and not as greasy as Five Guys (I'm not knocking on Five guys and would still eat there). Still it's not a burger joint I would go out of my way to eat on a weekly basis. Don't believe the hype about Shake Shack. I was super excited to try out Shake Shack with my fiancé after reading reviews and hearing that Obama really enjoys Shake Shack, my enthusiasm died as soon as I walked through the door. This location is extremely small and definitely not large enough to accommodate the lunch crowd at Tysons Corner. It is much better suited for take out orders because once colder weather arrives dining on site will only be an option during slow times. I ordered my $4 original cheeseburger and crinkle cut fries and my fiancé got the same. Our order came out 15-20 minutes later. The cheeseburger was good but it is not great, gourmet, or special. I would compare it to a Burger King cheeseburger only a little better. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy, but not special and likely poured out of a brown paper bag and straight into the grease. The drinks were small and the worst part of all, you cannot serve yourself beverages. This is a problem. The counter is never empty enough during lunch for you to get a refill, so you are thirsty. On the bright side, you can serve yourself iceless water from their tap. I would compare Shake Shack to Steak n' Shake. I have no problems with Steak n' Shake because my whole meal there is less than $5, but Shake Shake is comparable and my whole meal was $10. With that being said, I do not have any intentions of returning and will continue to frequent BGR where I do not leave hungry and the burgers are much more tasty. This place is pretty basic. I thought everything was just very generic. I'm a pretty big guy so this review is probably leaning towards people with the similar size of appetite. I paid over 12 dollars which is 5% over the budget that I would normally spend in the burger industry. Since I was at a Anime Convention I decided to go over normal spending and get a little loose. My burger came out and I finished everything within 40 seconds. The one really good thing about this place is that they have minute maid grape soda which is not common around our area. They also gave me a fresh new cup for my refill...whats up with that? I think I would only return if my girlfriend wanted to eat here cause then I would have no choice. I have had a burger craving lately, so we decided to try Shake Shack one evening when we were wandering around Tyson's Corner. The location is nice outside of the main mall area near the walkway to the new metro station. They have some nice outside seating which we enjoyed on one of the last warm nights of summer. I tried the Smokeshack burger - basically a bacon cheeseburger with cherry peppers and Shakeshack sauce. It was good for a fast food burger but nothing too fancy. I also tried the monumint concrete. Based on the description, I thought this would be like the DQ Blizzard but it was really more like a single scoop sundae put into the blender for a few seconds. Needless to say when you're expecting something along the lines of a shake a single scoop melting sundae is a bit of a disappointment. But the custard had a nice flavor. Next time, I'll just have to go with the traditional shake. read more

This place is AMAZING. My daughter and I were up staying at the Hyatt hotel and my daughter LOVES cheeseburgers and so we decided to stop in and get some food. I got the portabella mushroom and burger. It was fantastic. the burgers are kind of small but very filling. Also its kind of small inside. No where for people to stand after they order unless you stand outside but worth the wait. There was a tall light skin man, I think he was the manager. He was soooooo nice and friendly. I was in Tysons at the Hyatt for new years eve with my wife my daughter and her friend we had a late dinner reservations and needed a snack. Well we got two Black and White milkshakes a hotdog and an order of fries and headed back to the room. The shakes were OK we didn't know they would be so small, nor how they're different from a chocolate ones. The hotdog was split and burned. Not grilled, burnt. The fries were too salty and undercooked. We decided to go back and get a few cheese burgers. Big mistake. We had the same cashier, who remembered us and asked how it was. We told him the hotdog was burnt. He apologized but didn't offer to replace it or refund the money. We ordered two cheeseburgers and a large Coke Zero. The cheeseburgers were small and surprise they were burnt. The cook at Shake Shack was nice enough to even add burnt pieces to the roll. Well it was disappointing and expensive almost $36 for two small shakes, a burnt hotdog, two burnt burgers, 15 salty slightly raw fries. The large Coke Zero was fine. read more

This place is pretty good, went here for the first time last week with my family. The burger and fries were nice and hot. The burgers aren't that pricy and you can get a single or double patty. The burgers come with shake sauce on it, so if you don't want that say when your ordering. Love the actual GREEN lettuce on the burger not that iceberg stuff( which some places consider as lettuce.) One thing I would like to see differently is maybe a whole-grain bun option? They're new to tysons so they still have some kinks that could be worked out. The guy that took my order was so sweet and very attentive( wish I could have gotten his name) very helpful. This place was very crowded but the food was pretty fast, not a huge place; seating inside is pretty limited but the outside seating is nice. Again not a super huge place, but the area is put together nice. The seating is tight though. Got a spot outside, and next to us there was this family with their five demonic kids (very loud and annoying, and non-stop pushy as in me, me, me!) But this is a family -friendly place. There is a play place right next to shake shack for little kids. So if your looking for a quiet place this isn't it, or if your not into crowds. Overall, this place is fun too, they have ping pong, and other tiny games and there is a metro stop near there too. There are additional seating(not part of shake shack) but you sit there and relax( well as much as you can with screaming kids) There are also fake birds everywhere(keep the birds away) but it just looks very strange to me. Nice place to walk around too. If you walk further it gets quieter. Tysons also shows outdoor movies and concerts on the weekends. read more

While the burger and fries were pretty good, and shake really good (like their other locations), just wanted to mention that the cheese (for the cheese fries) wasn't worth the extra price and kinda gross. And the service was spotty. There were a couple dozen employees working behind the counter, but they forgot to make sure their buzzers worked and nobody followed up to see why a few of us were hanging out waiting for their order and they did not even call our names despite having our names on the order. The cashier wasn't the best at taking the order, too. Hopefully service will become speedier and better. (with 20 or so people behind the counter, you'd hope) read more

I've been a fan since their early days in NYC when the quality was good and the prices were reasonable. Now they have gone public on wall street and are trying to expand rapidly which is causing the quality and experience go down, while the prices get out of control. I decided to try out the new location with a friend and I have to say that it was very disappointing. The service was great, but the location is too small and the menu prices are getting ridiculous. The taste and quality of food was not worth the $15 I paid for a burger, fries, and a shake. Thanks, but no thanks... I'll stick with Five Guys (or In-N-Out in Cali). Meh- what is the hype all about? Are people just followers? Burger was average- nothing special and the fries tasted like the ones you can get from your neighborhood grocery's frozen section. I also don't understand why there were a handful of employees with long hair and no hair nets. As an out-of-towner this place is really hard to find. Ultimately I had to ask a couple of locals who graciously guided me to my destination. I ordered the chicken-shack sandwich, cheese fries, and a strawberry shake. The sandwich was awesome, the fries were typical, and the shake was good. This meal cost me $16.50. I've heard a lot of good things about Shake Shack so I was excited to finally see if it lives up to the hype. I got a double patty Shack Burger (cheeseburger) with an order of regular crinkle-cut fries. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich with fries and we split a chocolate peanut butter shake. The burger was absolutely heavenly but the portion size was tiny...Five Guys is definitely more filling although the Shake Shack burger was better. The fries were okay...nothing special there. The chicken sandwich was also delicious but tiny as well. Lastly, the shake was pretty good but small as well for the price. The venue was probably the biggest reason I give it a 4. It was packed with very little seating and people literally stand over you waiting for you to finish scarfing down your food. The dreary, rainy weather outside didn't help the traffic control either. We have given this place a few tries, with each one worse than the previous. Horrible service! Make sure you check EACH part of your order, as some of it is going to be wrong.
