This is one of the best burgers I've ever had! I seriously do not comprehend how anyone can compare it with In-n-Out or Five Guys. The patty is real meat thick enough to taste topped with delicious melted cheese that you can actually see for a flavor that equals perfection! Their fries are also really good! Always fresh and delish. I have gotten the Washington Mon-u-mint Concrete (custard) several times and it is my absolute favorite! Every time I visit DC I go (generally 2-3 times)! Shake Shake serves tasty damn burgers with limited bells and whistles. Fun food is how I describe the eats here, not healthy or the best burgers in the area, but satisfying and fun. Fast service, decent pricing and spacious seating areas made it a cool experience for me. The burgers are juicy and not overly seasoned like some of the other DC burger joints. (There are a million of them now) The Union Station location once housed the restaruant America. I'd eat here again. read more

The service here sucks. I ordered a milkshake and asked if a "concrete" is like a Blizzard at DQ. The guy taking our order said it is. We waited 10 minutes for our order, and when it came out, the milkshake was fine but the "concrete" was melted and soupy. I had to drink it out of the dish. Also, it's not like a Blizzard. It's just ice cream with toppings, and it's served in a small bowl...like ice cream. Overall, we got a small milkshake and a small dish of melted ice cream for $11. I won't be going back. read more

Fast food burgers and crinkle cut fries! If that is what you're craving then I recommend Shake Shack! I'm not a huge fan of crinkle cut fries but they were delicious! The fried chicken sandwich has the really nice flakey crust on it, yum! read more

My friend and I went to shake shack. We experienced great food. A bit small though but very tasteful. The only reason I am putting a 2 star is because of the customer service. The customer service was very bad in caring for their customers. This has been experienced twice for me. About 2 months ago we thought fries come with the burgers, but they do not and you have to order them separately for some dumb reason. We asked for 2 but they gave us 1. Now this time we asked for 2 root beer floats but only got one. The line was long so I didn't bother getting another one. I was there twice in the past two weeks. The first time, I was at lunch. I ordered burger, fries, and milkshake. Utter confusion. I had to leave my shake. Second time I was there. First in-person visit to the highly hyped Shake Shack. Have had Shack Shakes brought back by coworkers on shake runs so I was excited to go and check it out myself. Burger: SmokeShack burger was my pick today. Now I love bacon like the average gal but found the strips served here were much too salty. Shake Shack was pretty generous with bacon so just imagine the sadness I feel inside when I couldn't truly enjoy such generosity rarely experienced at a burger joint. Tears welled. Couple that with a beef patty that was obviously salted a bit too heavy and you just might raise your risk of hypertension in about 1 hour flat. When it was all over, I was hard pressed to find many differences between the patty I had just consumed and the ones served at Wendy's. *shrug* Shake: Fair Coffee shake mixed with chocolate. Much too sweet for my taste and lacked the consistency of a 4 or 5 star shake. It was more of a super chocolaty milk with coffee stirred in. I drank maybe a third of it before I tossed it in garbage. It's all about preventing diabetes, ya know. Fries: I tried a few from my pal's order. They were much better that I would have pegged them to be. Hot, generous portion, salted just right. No complaints here. Verdict: Shake Shack was just ok. Am I longing to return or even order a burger the next time my lovely coworker makes a run? Probably not. My experience was 2 stars but I'm adding a 3rd star simply for there being wine on the menu and the variety of sweet selections- frozen custard, delicious flavors, malts. Cheap affordable. I got the Stack Shack (a burger patty with a portobello mushroom patty lot of cheese muenster I believe lettuce and tomato) it was delish with lots of crinkling fries on the side. To drink I got the strawberry mint lemonade which was cool and refreshing palette cleanser after eating my meal! The wait wasn't too bad for a eatery in Union Station. Came here before catching a bus and my order took WAY too long for how slow it was. Only three people in front of me and it took ten minutes to get my order in and a bit longer to make it. I ended up canceling the order cause it cut to close to the time my bus left and no one there really seemed concerned. This place needs to work faster and more efficient in a busy station. 15-20 minutes for one sandwich is way too long for how slow it was, especially with no empathy or an attempt to make up for it read more

A very sad-looking fried chicken sandwich, hastily tossed in a greasy bag, that would have tasted the same but cost a third the price at a fast food restaurant, on a bun that was far too small, with equally greasy fries...add to this uninspired food, average service when ordering, dirty tables and floors, lukewarm drinking water, and slow food preparation. Went here out of curiosity and because they had cheese fries which are my favorite. First time I went there I ordered a burger and cheese fries with a shall drink. The food was delicious! The burger was terrific and juicy. The cheese fries were great too. Although the food was great I have to warn you that the food is a little pricey. I paid about $15 for a double cheese burger and cheese fries with a regular size drink and the regular size drink is pretty shall compared to other fast food places. Although it's a little pricey it deff worth checking out and I believe their DC union station location has recently added breakfast items which is also worth checking out. I heard great reviews about this place so decided to try it over a train stop. And I was disappointed. Not only was the service incredibly slow and I almost missed my train the food wasn't worth it. The burgers were below average and the milkshakes disgusting. The red velvet one was the only bearable one. The chocolate mint one tastes like literal mouthwash and none of my kids could take more than one sip. Not to mention it isn't super cheap for the quality. After hearing people gush about Shake Shack for years, we finally got to try one on our trip to DC. I ordered the basic Shackburger and while delicious, it was quite small for costing $6. Add in $3 fries, not enough to share, and a drink and you've got a pretty expensive meal for fast food, over $65 for our family of four. After getting through the enormous line, I didn't get what I ordered, they had run out of vanilla, the 'shroom burger was on a limp bun with tasteless filling, and the fries are worse than the grocery store brands. They had no idea where our order was even after our buzzer had been vibrating for so long that it stopped. So prior to this latest trip Shake Shack definitely would've received 4 stars. Pleasant, expeditious service; adult beverages; fresh ingredients; and great upstairs seating elevated it above its nearby competition. I have traveled to this location specifically from Hyattsville over closer options because the burgers have just been better. The price tag is a little steep (~$8 for two patties) but no different than most other chains (and Five Guys, what self respecting burger shop doesn't offer milkshakes??). However, most recently, I took the 25 minute trip (DMV traffic, what can you do) to Shake Shake, peeled back the greasy wax paper in excited anticipation, and bit into easily the SALTIEST burger I have ever consumed. I don't know if this was a one time thing or a change in recipe, but it was enough to make me reconsider making special trips into the city for it. I haven't sworn off The Shack, but it has definitely fallen from the top of the list. read more

The food is good enough for what it is. I've been eating at this location for a while on and off, close to work. But some, not all of the staff are getting worse. The wait times have increased especially when the restaurant is slow. Staff joke and clown while food sits waiting. Staff seems to forget customers can see them, management doesn't seem to care either. read more

As with my previous reviews of other DC Shake Shack locations, this one is no different in raving about the quality of the burger, fries and shakes... just overpriced for the serving amount.
