Tables are "hand crafted in New York from reclaimed bowling lanes"... hilarious!
Travis J.

I come here every time I'm in DC on my way back to NYC. The food is always hot and fast. The service is always good. It's a perfect way to welcome myself back to New York before I even get on the train. Today I got a triple French onion soup burger and it was bangin! Yumm! The tables used to be bowling lanes, very nice touch.

Horrible experience. I put a photo with my first order. I got there and they handed me the bag. There were 2 fries and a burger in there with 1 side of cheese. I ordered cheese fries with an extra side of cheese. I also ordered the new truffle fries. When I tell you...the attitude I was met with when trying to get my actual order was ugh...I don't experience this kind of customer service at the other location. SMH. I ordered a second order, but this time just fries from the kiosk. My video shows you that I ordered just fries and ended up with cheese fries. 2 orders wrong in the same day. I just left with the incorrect order bc this is crazy. Plus I don't want to be met with an attitude again.

My son wanted a well done burger. As you can see from the pic, it wasn't even cooked. That said, my bacon double and cheese fries were tasty, along with our strawberry and cookies n creme shakes. Waited about 15 minutes for the food. The water tasted awful but maybe that's the District's fault. Tip: there is a foosball table and cleaner/more seating upstairs! Yo boy PG out.

I rarely write reviews of fast food but Shake Shack in Union Station is very convenient especially if you are catching Amtrak. Less positive is this outlet is one of the dirtier I have visited. The tables were not cleaned so you are basically serving your own. There is better ambiance upstairs assuming the homeless have not down a take over.

The food the 1st time was fantastic, but this experience was not the same. The whole crew needs to be retrained. Food was over cooked and cold. The so called leaders were not prepared for the task at hand. The people and restaurants were dirty and unfit to be serving food. Countertop was dirty. And if you ask if they could clean them off they brushed on the floor. Never again Washington DC union station. I work for Amtrak and was looking for great service and food.

Third visit at this location. I'm writing a review to document the fact that if you order off the app, YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR YOUR FOOD At the counter. I waited like an idiot while my tasty burger and fries was turning into a cold blob. Such a bummer. Food (5/5): I'm such a huge fan of these cheeseburgers! I love the flattop crispy patty and streamed bun. I've gotten an avocado bacon burger with crispy onions and this is a decadent sandwich! There's so much flavor in this sandwich! I love it! Other than the truffle burger (which I'm waiting to come back) this is my favorite. Atmosphere (3/5): crowded, dirty, with lots of homeless folks wandering around. Not sure that they even clean up or police the area. Service (3/5): Servers seems super grim and not very friendly.

Sad how pitiful and greasy

Food greasy portions small and over cooked oil needs to be changed in fryers. The staff was grumpy and seemed short staffed and overworked in need o customer service training. shack used to be great what happen?

The food is good (standard Shake Shack) but the rest of the experience isn't. I often order ahead, and the order is either late so I have to wait around, or it's too early so sitting there getting cold (like, yesterday I was 10 minutes early and the food was already bagged and sitting there). The location isn't very clean. There's often a lot of trash left out on tables that haven't been cleared. The upstairs seating section is enormous but always closed. The cashier often sits down on a stool and looks at her phone between orders, and gives you the minimum attention when you order. Fries are sometimes not seasoned appropriately, like they forgot the salt. They need to put in a little more effort.

Shake shack never disappoints. The six-piece nuggets were absolutely delicious--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The fries could use a bit more seasoning, but still some good fries. the sunset lemonade was THE BEST! i love the flavor! Service was pretty good, and for ambiance they have straws, forks, spoons, mayo, pepper, ketchup, everything you need to make your meal good.

Being that all Shake Shacks follow the same model. This review is pretty consistent from location to location, just some minor tweaks, We visited here with the Key Clubbers from various locations in New York State. Some students told me that they never heard of Shake Shack.... WHAT!!! OMG... Please don't tell mew that you have never had a Shake Shack burger... Please! This incredibly tasty piece of meat (or chicken or mushroom) with cheese on their signature bun is nothing less than awesome. It's all about the taste, and a Shake Shack burger comes with plenty of it. Even they're "shroom' burger was a tasty fried breaded mushroom with cheese on the same signature bun, or as their menu says: Crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce™." It was awesome. The team members in all locations are always smiling and friendly and I can not imagine the pressure that they go through. Their locations are well positioned and always busy. People are just happy to be here. Shake Shack is always and amazing experience. They definitely have something for everyone here. Danny Myers knows the audience and how to present to them. KUDOs to Shake Shack!

Standard Shake Shack menu and extras. Nothing special except a cool patio location inside Union Station. Lots of choices in Union Station, and this is one of them. Nothing special.

I waited about 15 minutes for the shake shack burger. Yet somehow it was ice cold. I figured out why: the meat was so undercooked that I had to throw it away. This was my first and last time coming to this location.

ShackBurger - Pretty good but the patty was under-seasoned :/

Despite having just had a big dinner somewhere else, as I write this, my mouth is watering. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! If I lived here this would be my new regular spot.

The space itself is bright and airy and a bit on the noisy side. But the service was very good, and the food was served quite quickly. I've been on a shakshuka kick lately, so I opted for the the Sweet Potato Shakshuka, which is described as: Sweet Potato Curry, with Chickpeas and Sunny Eggs with a the chicken add-on - gotta get that protein in, after all. This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Make sure you get there too!

The mosquitoes aren't out yet so enjoy the patio. But honestly, the real star of the show, the one that truly stole my heart and taste buds, was the Antigua Bound drink. It was so good I had to get it twice! Seriously, this drink is a game-changer. It's got that perfect balance of refreshing and delicious that just makes you want to savor every sip. You know a drink is special when it outshines a stellar patty melt and fries, and the Antigua Bound definitely did that. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned.
