I've had Shake Shack plenty of times back home in NY, but I gotta say this one is the best! I usually don't like Shake Shack fries (I get a weird aftertaste, maybe the oil it's fried in?) but the ones here are so good! The burgers are cooked really well too. We used to live in NYC and the fact that Shake Shack is virtually in my backyard is great! I'm a bit sad at the low ratings so far. I've been here...3 times since it's opened and yes, the service is slow, but you have to admit the burgers are dang good! Shake Shack burgers are one of my faves. They are just so juicy - go to is the Shack Burger with 2 patties. I tried the hot dog one time and I don't think I'm ever going to do that. Very chewy, overcooked and definitely not worth the price. But the burgers are the way to go for sure. We also tried the peach pie concrete which I thought was good, but nothing to write home about! The most recent time we went, they were out of vanilla for their milkshakes but didn't make that quite clear but one of the managers did come by and checked in with us over the confusion and gave us coupons for the inconvenience so that was very nice. So in summary, stick with the burgers and you won't be disappointed and know you might have to wait for a bit but it's a new restaurant so it always takes time for these things to iron themselves out. read more

Good solid burger and fries. Lines are usually long whenever I go, but well worth it. Definitely recommend the shack burger with portobello mushroom with melted cheese. These are the same people that will tell you Outback is as good as angus barn... and western sizzlin' beats Ruth's Chris or Jimmy V's. They prefer quantity over quality. Shake shack has finally made it to Cary! A definite welcome addition to the area. On opening day, the line was wrapped around the building but they had it under control and it ran smoothly and efficiently. The food came out pretty quickly. Their food is excellent - definitely better quality than the ones in Charlotte! They have a nice seating area in side and outside on the patio overlooking the kids play area and water fountains in Waverly Place. There is also a ping pong table outside. read more

I was very excited to try but was disappointed with the execution of the burger. I ordered a shack burger add bacon. The bun was delicious the lettuce and tomato were fresh but I got what seemed to be like half of a burger. The burger was thin, as it is supposed to be, but it seemed as if it broke apart when they were cooking it and they still decided to slap what was left on the bun. So much hype and a lot of disappointment over high grease content and prices. This is just another chain, not terrific, not horrible, but a connection to other areas for new transplants. Try the local burger joints and get a lot better burger and support local entrepreneurs -- Bad Daddy's, Corbetts (Kildaire Farm Rd), The chocolate shake we shared tasted so similar to the chocolate custard served by longtime local restaurant Goodberry's (much better pricing). Tried for the first time today. Wife and I both had the Smoke Shack (she a single, I a double), an order of crinkle fries and 2 of the Cary Cooke Crumble concretes (frozen vanilla custard with goodies mixed in). Everything was hot (not the custard!), fresh and perfectly prepared. Until now, the only time we'd eaten at one was during our annual trip to National Harbour near D.C. It's in a great building and great location, maybe not so close to where we're moving in Durham, but that might be a good thing!! It's somewhat above average for a fast food spot. It just opened not too long ago...so expect a 30 minute wait...and that's after you order your food. Tried the Shake Shack once again today. As you can see in the photos on other reviews, the food is usually served touching the metal serving tray which is probably not disinfected between customers. Our meat patties were hanging out and leaning against the metal tray. You have folks coming in wearing masks for germs to eat where the fries and burgers are leaning against the tray. Science. There is nothing remarkable about the taste of these burgers, unless you get the specialty burgers that go up to twelve bucks that is. I had a chocolate pie shake, it was not as good as a chocolate shake at chickfila. The manager was there and they were fully staffed, mid afternoon, so the service was much better than my first time, when I waited over ten minutes. read more

I don't get it. It's a hamburger & certainly not the best I've ever had. Very limited on what you can get on it. Were told the diced peppers were sweet peppers. They were not. Salted caramel milkshake was warm. No root beer yet. My husband was really looking forward to that. I went here with my family & got a 'shroom burger that was lettuce wrapped & the rest of my family got regular beef burgers. they were all relatively the same size, which was very small, especially for the price of them. the taste was great though! overall enjoyed, but definitely won't be hurrying back read more

My favorite burger place, hands down. Previously, I could only enjoy it when I was traveling to bigger cities, but now they've come to Cary! Not sure why they chose Waverly as the location though. Seems like it would fit in better in downtown Raleigh, but I'm not complaining. The burgers are cooked perfectly, and the fries are amazeballs. I had one of the best burgers in my life at a Shake Shack in NYC and couldn't believe when they announced a restaurant opening in Cary. I told my close friends that we had to go. Finally found a time when we could go and arrived a little after 9:00 PM on a Friday night. There were 10 (yes ten, TEN!! people in the cooking area). The restaurant was not crowded and it took a very long time to get the food. But now, I thought at least the wait would be worth it. Everyone was disappointed. Average food. One said that Cookout is much better. The bacon on the burgers was half-cooked. Had to wait so long to get the food, so just took the bacon off and threw it away. Place just opened but things are rocking and rolling like the staff are old pros. The line was out the door but we only waited like 20-30mins. Things seemed to be operating pretty efficiently. The location is great with outdoor seating that overlooks a nice park area with water features. If you've had shake shack somewhere else, the food quality is consistent with other locations. If you haven't had it before it's best described as a better quality version of five guys. Put another way, it's the chick-fil-a of burger joints. Still fast casual burgers/fries/shakes but the burgers have some unique toppings and it's always a good experience to eat there. read more

I ordered the Smoke Stack, fries, and the sesame shake. The fries were above average, and the shake was enjoyable (but nothing to write home about). The burger was not what I was expecting. They put a lot of the cherry pepper on it, which doesn't really have a pleasant taste. I'm sure half the people reading reviews are wondering how long it takes to get through the line. The line was halfway around the back of the building and took 37 minutes for me to get to the front. My food took 9 minutes to come out. read more

I'm sorry to say that the restrooms at this Shake Shack were absolutely terrible which is the primary reason for this level of review. I'm not going to comment on the food as the reviews already placed reflect that nature of their offerings. I would say the employees were pleasant but again the restrooms were far from pleasant during our visit. While waiting for our take out both my wife and I needed to use the restroom at this location. We entered and immediately left the restrooms as they were very unpleasant and will leave out the details. If they simply paid attention to having very clean restrooms, especially with the pandemic in place we would feel more confident with their food handling since in our opinion if the restrooms are clean and tidy, it is likely that management is hard core on all aspect of cleanliness including the restrooms. In our opinion, restroom cleanliness should be top of mind always. That means checking it frequently as there are some very filthy people who simply don't respect that others will be using the restroom. We hope that this feedback is helpful to others and to ensure that someone is paying attention at the restaurant. We will be back and yes, we will see if anything has improved. Let's hope. read more
