Oh my I have been here so many times and always forget to review. This is my go to place for a quick dinner. It's really busy many times but the line moves quickly. My favorite items here are the cheese bites and the milkshakes. I usually get the chocolate with blueberry. Yum! The burger is good and is always served like I ordered. It is wrapped in foil so it stays warm until I get home. The cheese bites don't make it home..... The huge tea is exactly that....huge and a lady's tastes fresh, even good the next day. Went through drive-through for a Cherry Milkshake. Cookout has an incredible amount of flavors. They have duel lanes with only one that services the driver's side. This means that line is usually longer, which is was. The milkshake was delicious and people very friendly. In the past, I've had burgers with onion rings and slaw at this location. Food is always fun and quality is good. Get a tray with a main course and two sides--great bargain. They is a reason why Cook Out usually has long lines. read more

NOT vegetarian friendly! I read somewhere that this was comparable (or even better) than In n Out in the West Coast, and boy, that could not be further from the truth. In fact, Taco Bell, Subway, McDonalds or Burger Kind might be better for vegetarians. The vegetarian options were almost all poor quality and bland. The fries had nice flavoring but were soggy, and the veggie hush puppies were okay I guess - more like mini bread sticks/bites. The cheese quesadilla was nicely loaded with cheese but had no flavoring (Taco Bell does it better, honestly). Most of all, their veggie sandwich was pathetic; there were no pickles, or onions, but one lettuce leaf and one tomato; it could have been Wonder bread with mayo and cheese and I wouldn't have known the difference. Very, very poor. My suggestion for vegetarians (if plant based stuff aren't options) are to load up the vegetables and make an effort with the flavorings. 1.5/5. read more

My first Cook Out experience and it did not disappoint! If you're a first timer like me, be sure to look up the menu ahead of time because there are SO many options and combos. If I decided at the drive thru, I probably would have panicked and just ordered anything. Speaking of the drive thru, there are two lanes but the structure is weird because for one of them, the audio is on the passenger side. Makes me wonder how one would order if they were driving alone. We each ordered a tray and I had the double cheeseburger with fries, chili, and a cheer wine (also my first time - reminds me of a cherry Dr. Pepper). Everything was up to typical fast food standard. The chili was pretty good especially when using it to dip fries. We ordered 4 trays in total for everybody and our order was correct. It's fast and it's cheap but definitely not something to be eating too often. Definitely a once in a while treat. I also didn't feel TOO greasy after. I tried some of my husband's strawberry shake and it was way too sweet for me. Wow! I wish we had these in Florida. This is a fantastic burger joint with lots of delicious options that you usually don't find in a drive through. And the prices are phenomenal! You get your sandwich of choice, two sides and a large drink for only 5.25. You really can't beat that. And the burgers taste like real beef not cheap and artificial. They have different side choices other than fries like onion rings, cheese curds and chili. Yum! And they have everything from burgers, pulled pork, hotdogs and corn dogs. I've tried Shake Shack, Five Guys, IN N Out etc. and this is my favorite regional fast food chain by a mile. The food tastes fresh, has great flavor, and is an amazing value - you just have to know what to get. I always order the tray which comes with a main, two sides, and a drink. You'd be surprised at what you're allowed to order as your side - fries, chicken nuggets, and even a whole corn dog. Additionally, and this is where the value really kicks in, you can sub out the drink for a milkshake for just $1! There are tons of flavors but my favorite is Oreo. Super thick and loaded with oreo in every bite. You can get a spicy chicken sandwich (fried), a corn dog, fries, and an entire (quite large) milkshake for under $7. That's a great value! Everything tastes freshly prepared and it's honestly what I wish other fast food would taste like. If you're in the area, don't skip Cookout! Cook Out is a lot like Char-Grill, just a little bit less old school! It's all about the cheeseburgers, hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches and chicken tenders. Basic stuff but done pretty well, everything's fresh and tasty. Supposedly they truck in freshly ground beef every morning. I've also heard their milkshakes rock! Most of their business is drive-thru or you can try the walk-up window. If you do the drive-thru, the one on the left is typically nearly empty but you can use it even without a passenger if you pull up real close to the window. The only reason I'm giving this location to is because of the food. I went through the drive-through last night ordered two burgers two fries and two drinks and they were very rude with the order in the first place. When I realized there were french fries that were missing I communicated that to the lady at the window. The first girl was extremely rude. The second woman told me that I only ordered one because she was who took the order. She obviously did not hear me but her reaction was completely uncalled for. If she would have reviewed the order with me, we would have caught the error but that didn't happen. Instead of asking me if I would like another order and giving me the price, she decided to argue with me. I left without the extra order of fries. I'm very disappointed with my experience I had tonight. I came through and ordered my food asking for it to be freshly made, once I got my food I checked it and I found out it wasn't fresh I then asked for it to be remade. They then had me park and wait for "5 minutes" (which was 1 min) and brought me back the same food, with only one of my sides recooked. I pulled into the line to ask for it to get remade or a refund and they argued with me about how it was remade and that the food was cold because it was "cold outside", I explained that it's the same food and because I had taken a bite to check it before I asked for it to be remade, they agreed to remake it and had me waiting for 22 minutes. I had somewhere to be and it wasn't until I got there that I found out my chicken tasted slimy and rubbery. read more

I ate the corn dog and onion rings with the Cook Out sauce (they were just ok, pretty much what I expected), but I tossed the chicken strips and Cherry Chocolate Chip shake. I am mainly writing this review just to prove to everybody that I actually don't drink haterade. This Cook Out was my first exposure to the restaurant chain, and every experience has been very positive. I longed for this place when I was in LA. Choose from burgers, hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, and chicken tenders as your entrees. The Cook Out tray is the best combo in fast food, and it comes with 2 sides and a drink. Sides range from the ordinary to the not so ordinary, but there are no upcharges for these. Pay $1 more to upgrade your drink into one of the better milkshakes out there. There are no shortcuts with these milkshakes. An Oreo milkshake, for instance, is made with real Oreos and ice cream. Once upon a time ago HWY 64 only had 2 lanes. Now, I'm unbelievably old, but I'm not old enough to remember that. Even after HWY 64 expanded, it still was a twisted challenge to go to Cook Out for lunch from Apex High School. Back in my day, we were only given 40 minutes or so for lunch. This Cook Out is ran so unbelievably well, that I would always be able to make it back in time for class. I like Cook Out. I really do. When I visited my cousin last summer, he was very excited about bringing me to his favorite places to pig out. He was especially excited to show me just how much food one can get for just how little money you will spend at Cook Out. And as a New Yorker who is totally ok with adding an extra buck-fifty to an already ten dollar burger for a slice of cheese or -gasp- bacon, I was extremely impressed. I also became more aware of why obesity is an issue in America. But I digress. We got tons of food, the quality of which was higher than I expected given the price and the drive-thru situation. The burgers were juicy and grilled to perfection, and the cheese melted into the burger, not out of it. I had my first experience with hushpuppies, which were crispy on the outside. The milkshakes were even better. Thick, smooth consistency, lots of flavor (I really liked the cherry cola), and so large that it lasted a long time. Service was good, too. Friendly cashier. I repeated my order three times over the roar of the kitchen. In fairness to the employee, their intercom/speaker system is so awful, that may not her fault. Her attitude was her fault. When her co-worker standing at the window handed me my bag, she did not hand me my drink. When I asked for it she acted annoyed. It was especially cute when she handed the drink down to me (my car was lower than the window). She had filled up the lid so a couple of ounces of cola ran down my hand and arm. I have read of horrible fast food worker experiences where a drive thru customer threw a drink at the worker. Now, I understand why that happens. Pretty good and excellent value considering the low prices and food that is a step above fast food chains'. Their hush puppies and fries are decent, and their long, extensive milkshake menu is "famous". I'm not a big fan of their sugary sweet milkshakes though, and usually just come here if I'm craving some fast, not-so-good-for-you food that's pretty good but not great. They are strictly take-out and don't have much in the way of seating areas, but you can walk up to a window and order. Their service is fairly quick as well. There are two drive thrus are this location, which is nice, but maybe I picked the wrong side because the person waiting on me didn't care too much to stop talking to her friend inside in order to give me my order until I beeped my horn. Ate at this place today and the experience was great. Drive thru service was fast and on point. The real deal tho, is the FOOD of course. This has got to be the freshest fast food I have ever eaten in my life! Never have I taken a bite into a fast food burger and said it tastes like someone made me at home. I think because of that mere fact, I would come here again and again every time I want fast food! The milkshakes are good too, I ordered a Reese's cup milkshake with my food and it had just the right amount of sweetness to make it enjoyable! My only complaint, however, is that this is a drive thru only spot. If they had a dining room, it would make the place a lot more popular and give customers an overall smoother restaurant experience.
