Usually have fantastic service here. Today we took a ring we purchased here in to be sized just a quarter size. Ring has yet to be worn. When we bought the ring, the salesperson suggested tacking a ring I already owned with the new ring as I intended to wear them together. They performed this service - and an initial sizing - at no charge. Upon returning to have the ring sized (which is supposed to be a free service), the completely rude woman in the service area told us that since it was connected to a ring they did not sell me they would have to charge me. We explained that only the new ring had to be sized - and they were welcome to separate them. She then had me put the ring on and tried to tell me they both fit fine. Then claimed she didn't know if the jeweler coukd size the ring - she took it over and he said he could. Then she left the area to talk to a manager and came back saying she would have to charge us. Next time I ever buy gold at a jewelry store I'm gonna bring in my own scale weigh the item I want to purchase pull out a calculator add up the weight vs the current price of gold and give them the same bullshit story they gave me when I tried to sell it back. And say I'll give you $150 for that $1500 item. .This is how I feel after the price they gave me was almost 10% of what I paid for a ring I bought 5 months ago. "No pressure sales, no commission" -- try again! I brought in my grandmother's ring to be resized so I could wear it, and they told me the gold was only 10k so it couldn't be resized and melted. They claimed that the whole ring would fall apart, so they suggested that I have it reset in one of their settings. So much for no pressure sales! I found their comment to be sketchy, so I brought the ring to my trusted jeweler in Portland and he took one look at the ring and said, "$40, half an hour." The ring is now resized and the appraisal for the ring clearly states it is not 10k white gold. I initially went to ShaneCo about 6 weeks ago to purchase an engagement ring. We worked with Buck and had a great experience. An engagement ring is a big purchase and I wanted to think it over carefully. Buck placed all my info into a profile and gave me his card with all the necessary info. When I called to confirm my intention to purchase the ring I was met with lots of confusion and conflicting information. I know some of the people were new and may have been flustered. I ended up calling 4 times and constantly had to correct the back office/sales people about what I was doing I learned Buck had left for a new opportunity and went in store again to get things straightened out. I went in today and spoke with Linda about my great initial experience and very frustrating followups via phone. Linda was very understanding and strived to give me an excellent experience. She honored my initial agreement with the sales person despite a recent price increase and carefully documented everything for future follow up. She was empathetic and was more than willing to advocate for me and make things right. It didn't quite fit, so we went to Shane and Co. to inquire about sizing options and look at wedding bands for fun. After our first sales person left us standing alone for about ten minutes we spoke to a second rep who insulted the ring I had just given my fiancee, saying the inlaid diamonds would likely fall out and we should look at solitaire wedding bands so as not to have that issue with both rings. She tried to weasel us into buying a more expensive wedding band by insulting the engagement ring I bought from a trusted family friend. I really, really hate writing bad reviews. I honestly try to find the good in every experience I have, but this time....there wasn't even a silver lining. My husband and I are looking to replace our current set of rings (for a variety of reasons) and decided to give Shane Co a shot after being disappointed with selections at nearly every other store. We were hoping to keep our budget lower than my previous engagement ring, and after hearing Shane Co's commercials incessantly, gave it a try. When we walked in the store was incredibly crowded -- but this was kind of nice, at first, as we could walk around and browse without any pressure. (As the commercials say, they aren't on commission.) When we finally decided on a few rings I really liked, we stood by the cases for 10-15 minutes before someone acknowledged us (so, in total, for about a half hour after we walked in the door). I showed her the rings I liked, and she decided she needed to gather 5-6 more rings of a style I explicitly said I did not want or like before I just told her which ring I wanted. We decided to get the ring on layaway, which the sales person said great and started to input my info into an iPad. Then, suddenly, she said "Ok, follow me to the back." (Which is pretty much how every horror movie starts...) So, "the back" is a hidden area of the back of the store where people who purchase $x,000-$xx,000 of jewelry have to stand in line to make their purchase, pick up their purchase or really do anything involving the handling of their jewelry (like cleaning.) I stood in line for almost a half hour before I told my husband this was ridiculous and we left. I have fibromyalgia and was starting to get some pretty sharp pains in my legs from standing for so long (from looking at rings to standing in line, etc), and standing in line another 10 minutes -- plus paying and signing paperwork -- wasn't going to happen. This whole setup really devalues the experience. This is a pretty amazing and important purchase in someone's life, and that purchase becomes a cattle herd. In the future, I'll stick with stores I know that ensure every customer is greeted immediately, where all customers are offered water (or even a glass of wine!) and there is ample seating -- because face it, this can be a LONG afternoon, even though an important one. "No commission" doesn't mean lower prices! My experience here was disappointing; however your luck might be different. Customer Service (CS) = Mostly Friendly * One guy was a bit of the stereotypical slimy creepy sales person, but Julie was very friendly and upbeat. * There were some bad "sales routines": CS even said, "online stores such as BlueNile sell [the bad] diamonds that couldn't get sold in the brick & mortar stores." * There was a noticeable pressure level for "deposits" and "payment plans." Selection & Price = Fair Selection, Poor Quality, and OK Sticker Price * The diamonds they gave me were some of the poorest of all that I've looked at (in every store). * Big natural inclusions, huge crystals, and black inclusions... CS reluctantly described them when I pointed them out. * More diamonds can be brought into the store, for browsing, just tell them what you want. * "No commission", but the prices were not the lowest I've seen. * The "sticker prices", according to my comparisons, were competitive. * Yes, there is a "sticker price" just like when buying a new car. * They were not able to get the diamond specs that I wanted, and the selection was very limited. * Shane Co. is bankrupt, and headquarters can pull the plug on the Lynnwood site in the future. My fiance and I went on a Sunday afternoon to look for bands for our wedding next January. Within five minutes we were offered help by an associate who said she was just wrapping up with another customer. She pulled a couple rings for us to look at, then went to help her other customers. This went on for about forty minutes, her with the other customer about 60%, then us for the remaining time. We were patient, figuring she was with them first. As time went on, she started helping another couple as well, and spent less and less time with us. We had narrowed our selection down to two rings that we would have to custom order, so she went to get us the information - and we started waiting again. It got so bad waiting for her to return, we asked another person to help us with the men's rings. When the original associate finished helping her (3rd or 4th) customer, she came back to us, said she saw we were being helped by a different associate, that she was going to hand us off to her, that this new person would help us with our trade (?), and that she was going to lunch. After two hours, we didn't even get an answer on the two rings we liked, we were shuffled off to an associate who by that time was with another customer, and the first lady didn't even remember what we were looking for. We walked out without a second look from anyone else, and the assurance that we will never use the Shane Co for any jewelry purchase in the future. I have grown up listening to the commercials on the radio my whole life, that there is a difference to how you're treated, that it is a better experience than the chain stores. My mom and I went in to find a setting for her brand new diamond that my father got her after 28 years of marriage. I am not sure if they thought that we were just window shopping or what, but multiple salespeople looked at us and never said ONE word, not even a "hello". After 20 minutes and looking through all of the rings, a woman came up to us, gave us a ring "cart" and told us to shop around even though we can't grab the rings ourselves (SUPER useful) - then immediately left us to speak to another customer. After she came back to show us ONE other ring, she left again and then came back with another woman to help us. This lady was all over the place. Maybe get some more salespeople? This review is from a 24 year old male who purchased his wifes engagement ring here as well as my wedding band and my wifes wedding band. After doing a ton of online shopping for an engagement ring, and figuring out what style I liked etc etc.. I decided that it was time to do some in person shopping. It was much to difficult to choose something that expensive on the internet (my preferred method of shopping). I went to a couple of little different Jewelery stores, and I brought my brother with me. He suggested after a couple of hours of looking that we go over to Shaneco. He (who did much more research than I) said that they had the largest selection he had seen back when he was shopping for a ring. And that they have decent prices. He was right, they had a huge selection. Our salesperson was Julie. She took her time showing us how to tell good diamonds from bad diamonds. We were able to narrow down diamond price range because I had a fixed budget which they were very happy to work within. In the end, and after about three hours of shopping I ended up with a beautiful ring, which my fiance loved. The good: - Sales people were very friendly and not pushy. - They do lifetime rhodium re-plating (every 3 months), plus lifetime cleanings for free, plus they guarantee their workmanship in case there is a lost diamond. All for free. - You can upgrade your diamonds or your ring at any point and they will always give you the full value for trade in. This is nice because I couldn't afford a gold wedding band for me, but would like to get one in the future. So I know they will always give me the metal value of my titanium ring when I go to upgrade. -The diamond prices are decent, better than pretty much all the "in-store" places that I looked at (price/vs/quality). The Bad: - You can find better prices on GIA certified diamonds online (if you are willing to buy without seeing). - Even though they are non-commissioned they are still sales people. I was very adamant that I wanted a GIA certified diamond. However, she kept showing me "shaneco certified" diamonds. Trying to convince me that their certification process was "as good or better". After looking at the "Shaneco certified" compared to GIA certified of the same grade. It was easy to see that the GIA certified were much clearer and more accurate. The shaneco certified diamonds looked like a snowy wintery scene wtih lots of flaws. She challenged us to pick out the shaneco certified in a blind test.. All three of us who were there easily picked the shaneco diamond (due to color and flaws). My question is, if there is no commission why was she pushing the shaneco diamonds? Thus the -1 star. When diamond shopping know this (and our sales associate at shaneco reluctantly admitted this). When a company gets a batch of diamonds they send their best diamonds (the best of that particular group) to be GIA certified. They send their second best diamonds to be EGL certified, and they "in-house" certify the rest. In conclusion: Overall a good quality experience, love the guarantees, love the selection, love how they sales associate was super patient. Also loved how they showed you how to tell the differences in diamonds. Besides them trying to push their own certification (the only downside), I am very pleased. read more

Sorry boys & girls.. This is a long one!! Shane Co. would be recieving 4 stars if we hadn't had such difficulty with the hubsters ring.. but I'll get to all that in a minute. First off, the very first ring we purchased from shane co was my engagment ring. Actually "we" didnt purchase it. HE did.. all by himself and it's gorgeous! He said he felt at ease, well, as much as he could making a purchase like that; No pressure and free to ask questions. The second & third rings we purchased we our wedding bands. We had a good idea what we were looked for and Jeannie was a great help! I purchased a Benchmark Tungsten ring as hubby's wedding band. His brother had the same exact ring, same manufacturer (Benchmark) and same material (Tungsten - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungsten_carbide). The ring stayed in the box until the big day, and within 6 months it looked like it was developing a film.. we returned to Shane Co. w. the ring and they immediately offered a new replacement ring at no charge stating that this must be a manufacturer defect and offered their apologies. Now, a little over 6 months the new FORGE Tungsten ring is doing the same. After a 2 minute conversation with the store manager, we were offered a complete refund. All in all, we've recieved the refund and returned the tungsten ring. We purchased another tungsten ring at a different jeweler and made sure their manufacturer is NOT Benchmark (who turns out owns & operates FORGE so no wonder we had problems). I feel like I've become quite the expert the past few weeks] all in all, with this tungsten ordeal, it's not neccessarily shane co's fault, though they do buy Benchmark's rings... 4th ring we purchased was another band which is exactly the same as my wedding band (this ring is not in the photo) to be tacted to the opposite side of my ring. We were treated with the upmost respect and have had no difficulty. Each time we go to in they offer to clean and inspect my ring and also, they're always SMILING! i love that. It's also important to note that they have jewelers on site so any adjustments that need to be done to your ring can be done on site in a very fast manner (Usually a few days). At 1st I wasn't too sure what to expect even after looking at their prices/styles online. I was prepared for high pressure sales and got just the opposite. Right there speaks volumes! We were greeted pretty fast for it being a busy Mother's day. The women went and got us a sales guy who had already brought out 3 styles for me to look at. He didn't try to talk us into the most expensive one and even put up with me wanting to see something a little different. He also was able to jump around a bit which was fine since I don't want to be hounded while making this kind of decision. They are also HUGE on security with your diamonds here which is amazing. They had me watch as they pulled my diamond out of my current setting, did an inspection, wrote the serial number down etc. I feel like you would not get this type of service at a mall place. And I have plenty of jewelry from zales, fred meyer etc. Their warranties are awesome too, free inspections, cleanings etc If there is something wrong, they will make it right or replace it. I also like that they have a trade up program and will apply your original purchase price to the cost of a new diamond. I will never go anywhere else for jewelry. Shane company is great! My fiancé got me a diamond and plain band at another store and then had me choose the setting I wanted. We shopped around and ended up going to Shane Co. got my engagement and wedding band here. We looked around and compared and Shane had better prices and selections then any of the others we found. Fast forward a few months and we needed to get my fiancé his wedding band. We found a great one at another store with a hefty price tag so decided to stop by Shane Co again. We worked with Larry and he was wonderful. He asked us to choose rings we liked from the case and then tell him what we did and didn't like about them. He then came over with a ring that fit our exact description. We loved it and the price was unbeatable. My fiance bought my ring here and it's perfect! I've resized it about 4 times now (big knuckle, skinny finger) and they've happily worked on it over and over again. My husband shopped around for months when he was buying my engagement ring, and Shane Co. had by far the best diamonds for the price. Also, since he wanted to surprise me but wasn't quite sure what setting I would like, it was great that he could purchase the diamond and then have it put in a plain setting. That's what he gave me when he proposed and then a few weeks later we went in together and chose a gorgeous setting to set the original diamond in, as well as a wedding band. We later purchased his wedding band there as well. The staff at Shane Co. has always been extremely courteous and helpful without being at all pushy. I've brought my rings in several times since buying them to be cleaned and polished, all free of charge. Plus the rings have a lifetime warranty and if I ever want to "upgrade" they will credit me the cost of what I originally purchased toward a larger diamond or different setting. I love my rings and would probably never do that, but it's a nice option for those who start out on a more limited budget. My Sweetie bought a pendant and chain for me in 2005 at the old Tukwila, WA location and the chain broke recently. I knew about the Lynnwood Store, but didn't want to drive north, so I called about sending my chain in for repairs. Not only did Shane Company call me when they received the chain, they called a second time to tell me when it was expected to be finished. Then, they called me to ask when to ship it back - FREE OF CHARGE (I offered to pay for my return shipping). The whole repair & return took a total of a week. FedEx delivered the necklace - WITH A NEW JEWELRY BOX, signature required. Taking the extra steps to repair my chain - FREE OF CHARGE - and keeping me notified has impressed me beyond belief!
