    Egg bacon and cheese bagel
    Ann L.

So, airport food is never great...and prices are inflated...so the task becomes picking the best of the mediocre and overpriced options available. For anyone from out of town reading this, the real Shapiro's on Meridian is amazing. Please go there if you're in town long enough to do so. The airport version emphasizes speed which I understand to an extent. The bagels are good, but the eggs for the breakfast sandwiches are precooked discs...when I saw the server reach into a bin to pull one out for my sandwich, I almost changed my order, but things were moving fast and my brain was not yet moving fast pre-coffee at 5AM. My egg and cheese bagel sandwich wasn't bad as I think at least the eggs hadn't been in the bin long enough at 5AM to get rubbery. The coffee is fine: it's self serve, but hot and caffeinated which is what one needs for a before dawn flight.

The ingredients tasted super fresh and the service was fast and friendly. However, the bread was a little stiff, and for the price, I would have wanted a little more wow factor. However, it's in an airport so I had to factor that in. It's not a dine-in type place, so I don't have much else on the ambiance. Overall, it was a decent meal.

Mac-N-Cheese. May as well be store bought from a box. It's not THE Shapiro's macaroni.

Buyer beware! The macaroni they sell here is NOT the macaroni you get at their deli on Meridian. Supremely disappointed with my airport experience.

There was a fat girl in the back spitting eating and sweating on the food in the back I saw it with my eyes but I had The corn beef sandwitch was good though.

Dry wheat bread. Good for pond ducks, not for people.

"What's the pastrami like here?" "I don't know, I've not eaten anything here." When the cashier gives you that response, that's called a red flag. The best pastrami sandwiches in the country go for $20. That's what Shapiro's in the airport charges. Hence, my question. If you think your pastrami is worth $20, your cashier better be singing it's praises. Opted for the roast Turkey sandwich. A cafeteria-style offering on dry, wheat bread with discount Swiss cheese, that wasn't really Swiss cheese. $15. For a dry turkey sandwich. Shapiro's: reinforcing Indy airport's reputation as the worst airport food in the nation.

Stopped at Shapiro's this morning around 6am. Long line, but moved quick. Bagel was ready as we were ordering. Decided on a sausage, egg, & cheese bagel, only gave 4 stars because despite 2 signs listing they had mustard they told me they did not. This was super disappointing as the bagel was super dry. Trying to be positive and be grateful it wasn't super greasy either but some mustard or Mayo would have earned them another star. A bit pricey, about $10 but if I was in this gate again without anything open I would consider eating here again.

On my way home to avoid a snowstorm I stopped to grab some breakfast at Shapiro's. It was really busy but I had time before my flight so I waited. And waited. Not like me to wait but whatever. When I got waited on all I ordered as a buttered bagel and a water. $9.53 later I leave only to realize I didn't get a receipt. I walked back in to learn they couldn't give me one. I was promised they would email it to me but they didn't. The bagel was good. No complaints. They just didn't have enough help.

    Tuna Salad on Rye

The tuna salad sandwich was actually delicious! The salad wasn't just tuna and mayo, there were also pieces of celery and relish in there (and it seemed like maybe egg?) that added some flavour and texture. I had it with 1000 Island dressing which was great, and thankfully they didn't slather the dressing on - just a light coating on the bread. Even though they loaded up the sandwich with filling, the slices of bread weren't huge, so $14 was pretty expensive for a simple deli sandwich, although obviously you expect to overpay at an airport. The cashier here was super nice and made my morning with how cheerful she was. I also appreciated that they broke out the tuna salad for me at 10:27 when lunch technically starts at 10:30. The line moved pretty quickly too.

Overpriced and underwhelming. Roast beef was very fatty. Only decent thing was the rye bread. Service was unprofessional.

Terrible service at terminal B. Your employees don't get along. Not to mention out of eggs at 6:30am.

The sandwich is about as long as my humerus, and I ate the whole dang thing in one sitting. New York Gourmet Deli is not to be confused with NY Gourmet Deli, also in Indy. New York Gourmet Deli is located on East 21st Street on the near east side; NY Gourmet Deli is on Ruckle Street, near The Children's Museum. Are they owned by the same people? I don't know, but someone needs to change their name so I'm less confused. Anyway, New York Gourmet Deli, on the east side, is great and located in an unassuming parking lot full of potholes. It looks like a liquor store from the outside, but step inside and you'll see the large deli counter where you order sandwiches, burgers, fries and other foods. The joint is also a convenience store, of sorts, with a wall full of refrigerated beverages, aisles of chips, candy, and lots of Mexican snacks. There's also a little corner of the store with goods like laundry detergent and other necessities. The hustle here is unmatched. The fellows behind the counter were flying all over the kitchen to fulfill the orders. I visited around noon on a weekday, which seemed to be a busy time because there were lots of people from all walks of life here, either waiting to order or waiting for their orders. The guys behind the counter were unflappable and took orders and made sandwiches at a speedy pace. Even if there's a line, you won't wait long for your food.

Service was very good with only a slight wait due to a small line. You order, they start making your order and you pay. A few minutes later the have everything ready and bagged up. I got a chopped cheese, it does reminded me of a sloppy Joe, and my only complaint was I wanted more lettuce and tomato. Richelle got the east coast roast beef and cheddar. She loved it and it had plenty of lettuce and tomato. Fries are good, and the give them a sprinkle of seasoning too. Plenty of cans of pop to choose, but would like to see a few diet pop options added. We will definitely come back, and I ask for plenty of toppings.

Bacon making class: overall I am glad I did the class, but think there are some things that could change. The information provided at the beginning of the class didn't flow the best, and used a lot of terms I didn't understand- knowing your audience is important. We were told we would get 1.5lbs bacon, and .5lbs bacon bits. When picking up the bacon, we only got the bacon, and none of the bits. This needs to be updated on the class description. Sandwiches: we tried a goose, and a batalli. The goose was good- nothing spectacular. I was a fan of the batalli- nice amount of mayo, appropriate spice, and good amount of meat/cheese. Would definitely get the batalli next time. Overall, I enjoy the sandwiches, think the sandwich class could be improved.
