I don't know what it is about the formulation of their drinks, perhaps it is the milk, powder, flavor, real tea, whatever it is, almost every drink I get here is a winner. I'm pretty old school when it comes to milk tea / boba. I like plain with boba/pearls and usually either black or oolong tea (once in a while I'll get wild with green tea, weee!!) and I find that all of their standard varieties here are exceptionally consistent and delicious. I also love their add in's (i.e. boba, pudding, etc.) because they are all exactly what I expect them to taste. Yummy, consistent and well made. Tea and variety aside, which I find all to be pretty stellar, the staff is extremely friendly. I'm pretty sad that they have such limited hours these days because it is hard for me to get out in the middle of the day and drive 20 min to get to Sharetea, but they also can't deliver to my area ... so I hope they will do a little bit later in the evening in the future, but nevertheless I commend them for continuing to keep things open and letting us continue to enjoy the deliciousness. read more

Sharetea DT San Mateo location is found on the left side of Century Theatres in what seems to almost look like an alley way. Due to SIP order, they made a barrier at the entrance door with a table/tablet/payment system to prevent people from going inside and creating distance between the boba station of where the drinks are made/the staff. Kinda funny but awkward as well trying to yell your order without sounding aggressive as there is a big enough distance between you and the staff member taking the order. I personally like their milk teas. My bf is the fruit tea type and he is satisfied with their fruit tea drinks as well. For the most part, I like to go for the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea w/ boba. Perfect sweetness and milkyness (yup im making that a word). Here, I ordered the Classic Coffee Milk tea with boba, and classic milk tea. Both were good and was what I had anticipated, so that was a bonus. It took almost to a year for them to remodel and reopen to this location across from the theater, off the mainstream street, tucked away in an alleyway. This once was my favorite place for snacks and the boba drinks and always my go-to place for boba. My favorites were the Hokkaido MT and Okinawa MT. On this visit I tried the Creama Tea-- I was so disappointed with my boba drink...not a strong tea flavor and the cream wasn't very thick. The overall taste was just "meh" and IMO has gone down. Despite being a resident of San Mateo, I had no idea Sharetea reopened next to Century Theatre until the other night when after dinner, my friend (who's a SF resident) suggested we go to Sharetea for boba and informed me of this Sharetea location. This was especially embarrassing since I've gone down this little alleyway on multiple occasions when visiting Dessert Republic. From now on, I'm just going to say I'm from Antioch, since no one will ever ask me what's good in Antioch. Joke aside, I've always enjoyed Sharetea bobas and this location is no exception. The inside is very clean and inviting, with multiple tables to sit at. The cashier was very friendly, and you can also order from a nearby kiosk if you are paying with credit card. And the drinks (I ordered the Mango & Passion Fruit Green Tea) came out really good. I opted for the lychee jelly, and it was a great compliment to the drink. There are a multitude of boba places saturating downtown San Mateo, but only a handful that I would consider worth repeat visits to. And Sharetea is definitely one of them! read more

This is one of my go-to places for boba/milk tea. I love that you can customize your ice and sweetness level. I do find that their drinks are a bit on the sweeter side, but I'm also not a fan of super sweet things. The boba is always consistent, good chew and size for the drink, though I do wish they gave a little bit more as I finish my boba before my actual drink. There are tables inside now for seating, so if you need a quick breather, it's a good spot for that. Ordering happens off a kiosk with a fairly short wait for your drink. I come to this share tea to get boba almost every week which admittedly, is probably way too much! I stick to milk teas for the most part and alternate between regular milk tea, jasmine milk tea and my recent favorite okinawa milk tea .. all with boba of course! The place has enough seating inside and doesn't usually get packed enough where you have to stand. The line moves quickly but they also have an ipad where you can self-order which is nice if you don't want to wait in line. We decided to stop into Sharetea after leaving the movie theater nearby. Of the many milk tea places I've tried, only a handful have become my usual haunts. I won't be adding Sharetea to my list of go-to's. Their jasmine (green) milk tea with lychee jelly & pudding, pretty much the drink I order anywhere, wasn't to my liking. The tea flavor was completely overpowered by milk & sugar & the pudding was much softer than I'm used to. I'm all about texture; I can't have that flimsy jelly thing in my mouth. Drank about 1/3 while trying to avoid slurping up the pudding & chucked it in the nearest trash can. I'm so weary of trying new milk tea places because of this exact scenario; not only was I out a few bucks, I didn't have a delicious drink to sip on my way home, which is the bigger disappointment. Looks like this is a new location from the original San Mateo store a few years ago. This new space is a bit more open and bright, so it's a nice transition. It is tucked in an alleyway, so it can be difficult to find the first time you attempt to locate it. ShareTea is still one of the best boba spots around the Bay Area and is definitely my go-to spot. ShareTea is well known for their matcha red bean ice blend and it still one of their most popular drinks. However, I ventured away from this slightly to try their new line of crema drinks, which have been a new trend in boba market these days. For those unaware, the crema drinks have this layer of white cheesecake cream that sits on top of your drink. You can then stir it as you please to change the texture and flavor of the drink, making it creamier the more you stir. I ultimately got the matcha crema with 50% sweetness and boba, and I'm very glad I did! It tasted fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of sweetness to it. Highly recommended! read more
