The best kebabs this side of Beirut. Their hummus is probably the best in the city - salads are yummy, and this is home cooking as my grandma would make it, if my grandmother was Lebanese or Syrian. There is absolutely nothing I can say, except the bathroom could be a little bit cleaner, and the Decor... So my mom is here to visit, and she's never had Middle Eastern food, which the exception of Tribe hummus. At midnight, after a really rousing night of helping me do a month's worth of laundry, she said she was hungry. This place was the perfect destination, a) because it was open, b) because it's cheap as hell, and c) because she's from Jackson, MI and needs to have her culinary horizons broadened past Olive Garden. We headed over, and as expected, she hadn't heard of 99% of the items on the menu. My husband and I spent a couple of minutes explaining what shawarma, kefta, falafel, etc. was while the waitress waited patiently. The man at the stove heard us, and offered to give us a sample of shawarma on top of hummus, for her to try while we waited for our to-go order. We gladly accepted, and my mom's world was blown by how delicious the food out of a 24 hour establishment could be. Instead of a sample, he gave us an entire appetizer, along with plenty of pita. So. Good. He also took the time to chat with us, despite being one of the only cooks in the place, which was filled with people at midnight on a Friday night. I mean, this place is great. I'm sitting here eating a veggie combo platter with falafel, hummus, and double baba ghanouj (because I asked for a sub instead of tabouli, which they happily obliged). My mom was head over heels for her falafel sandwich, which she could only finish half of because the portions are *huge*, and my husband demolished his shawarma wrap. I'm gonna have food for days because there's no way I can finish his in three meals, much less tonight alone. Go to Shawarma Inn. The food is awesome, but the customer service and friendliness of the staff puts it over the top. If I ever move out of this neighborhood, I'm gonna commission the owner to build a new location in whatever part of the city I'm living, cuz it'd totally be worth it. read more

Ordered the combination plate and a shawarma sandwich. Some of the worst middle eastern food in town. Shish kabob was made with cheap cuts of cubed stew meat, and overcooked to extra well-done. Meat was tough, chewy, dry and gristly. Shawarma meat was fatty and gristly as well, and not the good kind of fat - the kind that is rock hard and inedible. The shawarma sandwich came made incorrectly. I contacted the restaurant via Eat24.com support and the support person emailed me back saying "I did follow up with the restaurant and they informed me they made your order the way you requested. Sadly the restaurant is not approving a refund for the Shawarma Sandwich, without their approval we are unable to authorize any sort of discount or refund onto the order." Bad food and management that doesn't seem to care if they send you an incorrect order. Plenty of great middle eastern places out there to go to instead of Shawarma Inn. read more

I've been coming here for about 2 years on and off. Love their food, up until yesterday when a girl claimed to be named "Angela" attended me. From the beginning when I placed my pick up up order I was treated rudely for no reason, with answers like "uh yeah" & other sarcastic comments. When I picked up the food, I brought it up to her attention and to my surprise, didn't care the least...even gave me her name. She flipped the script on me. I even told her I drove 5 miles to pick up this order and did not need an attitude. SUnhe simply said, "what does that have to do with this". A total bitch!! read more

I write this review as a warning to prospective eaters. I really love this place's food, and ordered it on GrubHub for a few months. But the last time we ordered the 6 piece falafel, I found a nail in the falafel. As in, the kind of nail one hammers into a wall. I had the shawarma sandwich and it was pretty disapointing. The meat was too overcooked for me, bordering on dry. I found a huge piece of gristle that I had to spit out. The sandwich wasn't horrible, but I could certainly get a much better sandwich for the same price elsewhere nearby. I did notice however, that the entrees looked pretty good, but I probably wouldn't come back to try them, simply because there's so many other similar restaurants in the area. Order a lot of food it came cold and about 2 hrs late and they told me they will credit me all the meals back because the delivery boy didn't speak English and took all the money when he wasn't supposed to... So Shawarma inn said they will credit me everything back and didn't and only gave one plate credit... So don't lie next time read more

This place is only a 10 minute walk from my condo. I am hooked on their combination plate that for 13.00 they reallly bring out the entire kitchen for you to eat. Their food is fresh, plentiful and moderately healthy. They are open 24 hours and no matter what time of night I choose to go get something to eat, it is always the same outstanding quality. They are a very busy restaurant but they still are very attentive to their customers. Highly recommended! read more

Came here the other day because my boyfriend really enjoys this place, I can see why! It was a Sunday night around 8 or 9p.m. He suggested the combo plate (includes a salad, lentil (or white bean?) soup, fresh pita) which had chicken and beef and rice. Service was quick and our food arrived hot and delicious. The seating area is a little small but I think its definietly well worth a stop. Prices aren't too bad considering how big the portions are we both took some home and I will be stopping by again! read more

I love Iraqi , or Chaldean Kebab. It takes me back to my roots, growing up in a small town near Dearborn, MI. Chaldeans are by far the friendliest people out there, and they know how to spice their kababs just so. Not to mention, I have not had Baba Ganoush this good, since the Syrian family moved out last year. I loved the outdoor tables, so I could sit and enjoy my Kofte Kebab Sandwich hot off the grill. I called to make a reservation & the person on the phone said "what would you like to order" I said "no, i'm making a reservation"...Then after she got my name, time, etc. She said "do you know what people are ordering" How would I know this? Don't people have to go inside, look at a menu, & then order? The food IS good. But much more of a place for to go's or carry out. There wasn't a single person in there & it was freezing. Really good place as far as food. The waitresses are kind of dressed like they should be at home but eh it doesn't bother me that much for the kind of setting I'm in. The chicago location is good and the park ridge location. Shawarma sandwiches are fresh and not too oily. The beef hummus appetizer has so much flavor. And there plates are cooked perfectly. While driving without a plan down Lincoln Ave, Shawarma Inn caught my eye. It was lunchtime, I was hungry. I made a U turn and I went inside to check it out because I saw the crowd enjoying themselves inside. They were doing brisk business and I was told to sit anywhere I could find a seat. The young staff was working hard and very businesslike but no one was looking stressed or upset. I don't need my server to be all smiles when I'm eating out as long as they are doing a good job and aren't being negative towards their customers. I looked over the menu and the combination dinner seemed to be the best way to sample their offerings. The combination came with a choice of lentil or white bean soup(went with lentil), very simple salad, shawarma, one kifta kabob and a choice of shish or chicken kabob (I went with shish). Salad came first and was nothing special with just lettuce and tomatoes. A big bowl of soup came next. For my tastes, the soup was bland but after adding a little salt from the shaker, it perked right up and I ended up finishing the whole thing. When my dinner finally came, it was so much more meat than I was expecting, which is a very good thing! Shish kebabs, good sized kifta and a lot of shawarma. Next time I'll choose the chicken kebabs because it was too much beef for one plate. The shawarma surprised me because it tasted more like steak than the more commonly used chuck cut of beef. The other meats were good but a little overdone IMO. Shish kebab was cooked well done so in the future I'll ask for medium temp, if possible. I hate well done beef, what is the point?? The pita bread wasn't warmed but it seemed fresh enough. If they don't give you the sauces, don't be afraid to ask. They had a creamy, slightly green sauce that was very good. I couldn't tell what it was but I put it on everything. All in all, the food was tasty and the people working there were running back and forth making sure everyone had what they needed. I'm sure I'll be back to try some of the other things on the menu. Side note, I didn't see any pork on the menu so Tina L's review might be talking about the lamb chop. read more

Came here tonight with my fiancé. The decor left much to be desired, but there was plenty of seating. We ordered felafel and chicken shawarma and beef shawarma sandwiches. The food was unbelievable. So flavorful! Even the felafel which I normally think is too bland was very tasty. We were very happy with our dinner. It is worth the trip if you like Shawarma. read more

I have been told of this place by so many friends that I had to try it myself, and I was not let down! I ordered the beef entree and was immediately hooked! I got the lentil soup first time and then the white bean which were okay, but the entree itself was amazing! I also ordered the hummus...and OMG! I have never really enjoyed hummus as much as the one I had here! Only reason I didnt put a full 5 stars was because I didnt really enjoy the soup but Im really picky when it comes to soup. I def. Snowy day today, both my partner and I got home late from work, needed dinner and a place that delivers. Instead of going the normal route of ordering Thai or Chinese, we stumbled upon Shawarma Inn as a top delivery place in Lincoln Square. I ended up ordering the Combo plate and WOW the food was fantastic! They are also definitely NOT skimpy on the food either!
