The Gryos are usually pretty good but the last time we ate here the pitas were burnt and the fries were underdone. I called and complained and a nice gentleman on the phone informed me that he would remake my order at another time free at charge. Well I go ahead and call and ask to redeem my free remake and the guy on the phone acts like he doesnt even know what is going on. Until they decide to fix this situation they have lost a customer. read more

I just got in town after a long travel day and was hungry, so I found this place after a quick search. I had a chicken shawarma sandwich with French fries. It was delicious! I've been skeptical about chicken shawarma since my introduction to it in Abu Dhabi a few years ago...nothing in the US has come close to the deliciousness that I had there until today. My sandwich was the right spice, my French fries were fresh, hot, & perfectly crunchy, and I grabbed a can drink on the way out to complete my combo. One of the best places to get chicken shawarma in Seattle. True story, i got craving for chicken shawarma, drove 20 minutes to get there late night to get a bite of it didn't disappoint. Whenever i am near University of washington, i drop by to get one. Has decent flavor. Wouldn't be disappointed. Also while there if you have sweet tooth or craving sweet, try their chocolate baklava roll (i think thats the name). its amazing. read more

If I could give no stars ... I would. This place used to rock. I would travel from Northgate passing many other restaurants dealing with traffic and all. Never an issue. .. NOW ... Discovering hair in the food, and the manager on duty questioning me... "how long is the hair" .. to verify... what??? The Manager first refusing to replace a "new order of Greek fries" on the next order after the hair discovery. Arguing the validity of my complaints. Referencing to the store owner to replace a simple order of French fries that are obviously cold in the center and grossly inedible. Fries that I have taken 2 bites ... literally! I was willing to drive back to have them replaced until I felt insulted. After thinking about it this place does not deserve my money. They deserve to be exposed for the way they treat a loyal customer that just wants to eat what they paid for. There is no love in this food anymore.... Prices are up since the new year... as in they raised the price of everything by a dollar. I was fine with the price hike, but now the food is inconsistent. No good! 5 stars for the King! On the upper west side of the UW district, along University Way there is no shortage of good ethnic food. Take a five minute stroll either direction from the University book store and you will be fighting the internal battle of too many choices, and so little stomach space. One place however should make it an easy decision for you, that is of coarse if you are looking for outstanding Mediterranean food, freshly prepared favorites, mouthwatering savory lamb, and what I can only imagine as the staple comfort foods of that region done right, done fresh and done with ohhh so much flavor. To say I was not disappointed would be an unjust lack of appreciation for the culinary class this place is serving up. The setting is casual and hip for the locale, something I am sure is packed with the locals on any given night. The establishment was clean, respectable and tantalizing, yet not overly saturated, with the smell of freshly prepared dishes. What I liked most: The lamb, the lamb was fall off the bone amazing. you cant ask for better and recipes like this are hard to find so don't pass it up! What I like least: lack of space. The dinning area was big enough, however I didn't care for the lack of space for the Kings deserts (amazing looking Baklava) all set up on the counter. read more

You can tell they care about providing good quality food with fresh ingredients. The food is very flavorful, but doesn't hurt my sensitive stomach. It is actually one of the only places I can go out to eat anymore without getting a stomach ache. The portions are generous while being affordable - my partner and I can eat for two days on a $35 order. Also, it is operated by a bunch of really cute European guys who compliment you (respectfully) and sometimes give you freebies if you pick up in person, which is a plus. I am a fan. read more

The Chicken Shawarma was delicious! We went with someone from Syria/Jordan who was absolutely ecstatic to find a place that served "real" shawarma. We also tried the Beef Shawarma, but the Chicken was much better. There are only a few tables (many with only 2 chairs) and no available seats when we arrived. There are two shawarma king restaurants along the ave, both are ran by the same group of people. The location further up north is a replacement of the original shawarma king that was located across the street from the jack in the box. That shop closed two years ago due to a non renewal of their lease..... The guys who work at both of these joints are so friendly and often recognize their regulars. Once in a while they'll also throw in a free baklava with your meal. Their lamb is really good, but my favorite is their chicken shawarma. Their shawarmas are HUGE. Definitely the best bang for your buck in all of Seattle in terms of middle eastern food. The other gyro shops along the ave don't even come close to competing with these guys. read more

It bothers me to have to give 1 star to a place that is rated this highly, but such was my experience. I ordered a beef shawarma sandwich. It arrived a minute later. That was a giveaway that the sandwich was prepared earlier. That is fine at Dick's or McDonald's, but certainly not here. And in my case, it must have been prepared much earlier because it was not even lukewarm, and it was so soggy poor thing was falling apart as I tried to unwrap it. I've been coming here for years and this place is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant on the Ave! Low key, ask for the Greek fries with garlic sauce and extra napkins and ketchup because they are so yummy! The falafel here is homemade, along with the hummus as well, and its the best I've ever had!
