One of the few spots in the area that is open as late as it is. When you walk in the guys greet you and are ready to take your order. They have your typical options. Pricing is a little high but not the worst I've seen. You get a good amount of food for what you order so that's a huge plus. They have some seating inside and it's clean enough usually. If you're in the mood for this type of food, it definitely hits the spot.

Sultan is my favorite spot on the Ave. Highly, highly, highly recommend the #14 Arabic Shawarma -- I get chicken. It's the best bang for your buck at only $12ish for the whole shawarma and the garlic sauce is some of the best I've ever had.

Gyros and shawarma in university district The only crowded spot on the street so I assume it will be good got back to hotel to eat should have asked for dressing on the side Salad was saturated the chicken was a bit salty but the beef/ lamb was good. More rice then one could eat drink offered with in price only diet was Diet Coke

Sultan is one of those small restaurants you walk by with a window to order and know that there's something special inside. Their food is fairly priced, and there are a variety of items. The staff were friendly in ordering and were patient in clarifying a few items. I went with the Kufta combo, which featured ground beef. It was made fresh, and it took about 15 minutes. The Kufta wrap was delicious, but there was a bit too much sauce, which ended up leaking out. On the topic of sauce, it is not included with fries. I was, however, surprised at how good the fries were - seasoned with BBQ or cajun and sported the perfect crisp exterior with smooth interior. The restaurant itself wasn't too spacious, and the selection of drinks were limited. Many were out of stock, and I wish there were a few more options. Other than that, it was a very tasty dinner!

We were in a hurry to a lecture, so we entered the place. It's a fast food Mediterranean place. We were three people and all ordered together. The first dish came after 5 minutes, the second order came 10 minutes after the first one and the third order arrived 10 minutes after the second order. In total - 25 minutes to get all of the dishes. We ended up eating independently, otherwise it would have gone cold. Was it worth it? Big No. My chicken salad was sooo dry! The chicken... and the salad dressing was sour... the tzatziki was tasteless and the shawarma was very fatty from oil. The kofta was ok, but the bread they fold it in - lafa - was very thick and chewy. And we were late to our lecture.

Great food at decent price. Seasoning is better and open late is plus. Seems like owners are here which explains better food and service. Casual feel and good service.

I can't even begin to describe how much I love this place. The cooks are diligent and so nice, and I've yet to have a bad meal here. I've only tried the Arabic shawarma and the lamb and beef gyro, but it's always delicious and you get a lot of meat for the value. 2 meals with fries/salad usually runs me and my boyfriend about $31.46. I've also noticed that my gyros get packed a little extra every time I tip too Delicious salad with an amazing vinaigrette, you get a variety of veggies in it too which is always fun. I don't get the fries but they seem good. The restaurant itself is pretty small and not very decorated, but it's well maintained with a lot of seating options. It generally takes 20 minutes to get the food here so I will usually go to h mart and pick up snacks/groceries while waiting. Also I walk 0.7 miles back to my apartment with the takeout and it is always hot by the time I get home. I love love love sultans. Ultimately I'm biased because I haven't tried any of the other shawarma places on the ave, but you won't be disappointed if you go here.

**vegetarian review** This is one of my late night take out spots. It's fairly basic and well executed Mediterranean food. I usually go for Mediterranean platter and Arabic falafel wrap. I don't prefer the fried cauliflower, eggplant dishes since they absorb a lot of oil. They are very quick as well as well priced. Will continue to go here for a while

Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

However, today may have been an off day for the team and there were a few new faces. After a long day of work, I just wanted grab food and go home. I ordered takeout for my family's dinner tonight, and unfortunately, the portion sizes were inconsistent. The beef curry and chicken curry were only half-full containers, and the three large orders of rice were also barely half-full. Additionally, the spring rolls appeared fresh, but their quality was questionable. It may have been an off day, and certainly a couple of new staff. However, it was disappointing considering the usual quality of their food and price point. Before writing this review, I had already prepared the curries in a pan. Therefore, they are not pictured. My family noticed them before I reheated the dish, and subsequently, I reviewed the order and decided to share my thoughts.

Oh, and a vodka lemonade - you can get cocktails delivered via DoorDash! Everything was super good, especially the chili cheese dog. They were really generous with the chili (a full cup of it) and it was delicious. The lemonade is made from scratch and I really enjoyed that, as well - not too sweet. When we did takeout, we each got a sandwich, and we also got a Chicago dog, "chum bucket" w/ tots, and a handful of cocktails. I'd had kind of a bad week and was basically like, I don't even care, let's just get whatever we want even if it's an insane amount of stuff, haha. They do single serving craft cocktails for takeout in little cans, which is pretty cool. And they were SO GOOD (all with very clever nautical-themed names). I think our favorite was the "No Ship Sherlock" seasonal Moscow mule. The Chicago dog was amazing - based on this and my previous chili cheese dog, I can say without hesitation that their hotdogs are 100% 10/10. The "chum bucket" tots were also really good, and again came with a very generous full cup of chili. I hate to say it because everything else was so good, but the sandwiches were pretty disappointing for the price, we both thought. I had a tuna sandwich and my bf had a veggie sandwich. They used fresh, quality ingredients, but both sandwiches were kind of bland, and a lot smaller than we were expecting for $14 apiece. That's the only reason I dropped a star, but aside from that, they are 5 star all the way. So, we would not revisit the sandwiches, but hotdogs and cocktails HELL YES YES YES!! Anything involving the chili is also highly recommended. And although I didn't really go into detail about it, chicken tenders were good, too (there were more in there than what the photo shows) - crispy and well-seasoned, and more than what I was expecting.
