I was beyond shock when the employee informed me the cost to install the faucets would be $1,100. Obviously I did not use this company nor would I ever call them again. UPDATE: In response to owner implying that there were barriers or difficulties with installing the two faucets. NOT the case at all; clean and clear access, only one bolt had a little corrosiveness.

On 10/20/2023, I had no choice but to use Ability Plumbing because my HOA in Summer Hill, San Diego, only allows them. A technician came out to give me a quote for replacing sinks. The price was steep, but since they were the HOA's contractor, I felt trapped. During this visit, the technician pushed me into replacing my "failed" hot water shut-off valve -- something I didn't even call about -- warning me about "emergency situations" and how critical it would be. His high-pressure pitch worked, and I paid $920 for it (later finding out other reputable plumbers would do it for half the price). But again, my hands were tied due to the HOA. Fast forward to 8/12/2025 -- I had an actual emergency where I needed this expensive shut-off valve. Guess what? It didn't work at all. I called immediately, got voicemail, and later spoke to a woman named Laura who assured me they'd send a tech on 8/13/2025 at 9am. I took off work, sat here waiting, only for Laura to call at 10:30am saying the appointment was canceled because their three technicians were "tied up on another project." This was after knowing my situation and the fact their overpriced "emergency" valve failed me. This is not just bad service -- it's outright scheming. They sold me a part I didn't ask for, at a gouged price, and when the moment came for it to actually protect my home, it failed. And their response? Cancellations and excuses. On their website, they boast about "25 years of experience" and "treating customers like family." Please. Maybe it's 25 years of scamming families. Their actions show zero care, zero respect, and zero accountability. It was not until the base cabinets were demolished that I saw that the new copper piping had not been run behind the drywall with steel stud safety plates, but just curved on top of the bottom shelf, completely exposed to possible damage from items placed back on the shelf. When the flood mitigation company arrived they immediately recognized that the new piping was not up to code and they contacted Thad, the owner of TLC Plumbing, to give him the option of coming back to correctly install the waterline, or they would fix it and bill the cost back to TLC. Thad came by my house the next day but did not tell me he was coming and did not knock on the door. I immediately called Thad back to have him return, but he cut me off and said he'd be back "between 10-12 the next day." He never showed up and ghosted me thru further attempts to contact him. It's also noteworthy that I had to contact Thad four times to get a readable copy of their work order/receipt. The flood mitigation company is now billing me $1100 for their professional fix, saying TLC is claiming I approved the non-code compliant approach. I was shocked when I saw the exposed piping and compared it to how the original pipes were installed in the walls. I cannot and will not give TLC Plumbing any grade other than an F and strongly caution anyone against using them.

That's a $10,000 difference from Anderson's lowest offer and a staggering $37,000 difference from their original $44,000 quote. What made the experience even more questionable was that the person they sent out was a plumbing specialist, not an HVAC specialist, to evaluate and quote our AC replacement. I understand that companies have different pricing, but quotes ranging from $44,000 down to $17,000 for the same job, especially when another reputable company completed it for $7,000, is extremely difficult to justify. Our original American Standard shower mixing valve from when the house was first built in 1967…read morefailed catastrophically on New Year's Day (2025) and wouldn't shut off. We had no choice but to shut off the water for the whole house as there was no way to turn off the water just to the shower without cutting through a wall. We were able to get an appointment the next day and Mason showed up right on time. He was able to diagnose the issue, find and pick up the required parts locally, including a new chrome wall trim kit and handle, cut off the old handle (was frozen as a result of 58 years of hard water) with a saw, rebuild, reinstall, and seal the whole thing in less than 3 hours. There's absolutely no way I could have done that myself. I was convinced that it would require cutting through the wall and was expecting to have to pay a lot of money to do a full valve and piping replacement. Mason was able to do all the work in place without having to cut tile or plaster. I am extremely happy with the result and the cost I think was quite reasonable considering the time and effort it took to fix it.

He always has a great attitude and goes the extra mile. Today, he came out for a toilet that kept clogging. Rather than immediately jumping to the more expensive hydro jetting option, he took the time to troubleshoot the problem and used a Milwaukee AirSnake. It worked perfectly, the toilet is running like new. He also fixed my garbage disposal and kitchen drains, and now everything is running like clockwork. His price was extremely fair, and the whole experience genuinely made my day.
