Excellent food (best calamari we've ever had). Our server Aaron (not sure about the spelling), was outstanding. I'm used to servers nervously wondering if this little old white lady is serious about liking really spicy food. Aaron never flinched, brought out some divinely demonic shrimp (kitchen sink flavor, diablo heat). Protip: when they offer you a bib and gloves...take them. Just trust me on this. There's a reason the tablecloths are plasticized paper, okay. Man, this stuff is messy. I think I have sauce in my socks. Bit pricey, but worth it ($48 or so for 2 half-pounds of shrimp, 2 enormous orders of fries, and an app of calamari). read more

I was throughly disappointed with my experience. My server left his shift and didn't even say anything to the table and the waiter that picked up his table didn't come to us until last minute and admitted that he forgot about us. The drinks (alcoholic) that were brought to the table were not the drinks we ordered and the waiter didn't bother to correct it. Upon trying to get a piece of ice out of the drink I noticed a gnat frozen in my ice. I told my waiter and he brought the manager over. She stated that she was going to comp a drink as well as the dessert purchased, however after paying for the food, I checked my receipt and the manager and waiter lied, they never comped the fries only. For $175 this was a HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AND HONESTLY NOT WORTH THE PRICE. I was extremely disappointed with the restaurant will never eat there again!!!!!!! read more

M: The Calamari is hands down the BEST calamari since moving to Texas. That's including Pappadeaux! We didn't have to add any seasoning at all, which came as a surprise and it was perfectly cooked. The hushpuppies were handmade and flavorful. The Kitchen Sink#1 was great. The flavors of the garlic, Cajon and lemon pepper all hit together nicely. C: The Calamari is excellent, had the exact right amount of seasoning. You get a very nice portion size for sharing and it was cooked to perfection. Kitchen Sink#2 The flavors went well with the ingredients. Everything was cooked right and seasoned just right. The sausage is definitely worth ordering! Has great flavor. The staff was alive and fully explained everything to. They had a lot of TV's inside and a bar area, as well as general seating. Being a "newbie" we didn't know how messy this place could be! This place is a cool place to go to. But right off the bat, the service here sucks! Our server took his time on everything. It's rare that I have to ask for a refill at any place but at this place, I had to beg multiple times. Each time my server came back, he smelled like cigarettes. I felt like he took a cigarette break after each time he stopped by our table. The food on the other hand is great, some even amazing. I had the fired catfish plate and it comes with 2 filets and fires. I also got the calamari with was probably my favorite thing there. Everything tastes fresh and cooked to perfection. I also got the crawfish and shrimp with their kitchen sink seasoning. The kitchen sink is all their popular one, which is all their seasonings put in one. The crawfish and shrimp, along with most of their seafood items, are market prices so it'll change on you time to time. Consistently the best seafood value in DFW. Fried shrimp are amazing and large for $12.99. Great value in a time when seafood prices have gone bananas. Best tartar sauce I've ever had. Crab tater tots are amazing and a great value starter. I'm from Houston and have lived in DFW for 16 years. When I first moved here there were maybe 3 places down in lower Greenville area that served crawfish. Now it's everywhere, but Shell Shack top to bottom is the best. We eat here all the time and the food is good but management here is absolutely terrible. Ordered a pound of king crab tonight(always order this when we eat here) and they brought out 2 small legs. I'm the type who NEVER complains. I told the manager I always eat here and that is clearly not a pound. He brushed it off and said it was right. I know what a pound is and this wasn't even close. It was about a half a pound which is ridiculous. We felt ripped off. The manager here needs to learn that when patrons come and drop $100+ on a meal and they complain about their dish, they need to make it right. We left and were not even full. We will not be back and will tell our friends not to go here either. It's a shame too because the food is good. To the owners, here is something to remember. When the economy is rocking and you are very busy, you can get away with not doing the right thing, but as time goes by, people will not forget how you treated them. Word will spread and it will have a negative impact on your business. When "regulars" are upset with their dish and have a legit concern...FIX IT. Avoid this place!!! A cool little bar nestled on Park and DNT, the food didn't seem overpriced and it was dang good for what you got. The Calamari is fantastic - they used a unique seasoning completely different from any other calamari I'd ever had. At $10, I thought it was a great deal. Stopped in for dinner tonight. Was a pretty mellow crowd for the day before Fat Tuesday. Nevertheless, we got seated right away. Brandon was a very good waiter and he paid very good attention to detail. We ordered the crab stuffed tater tots which came six to an order. They were unimpressive and tasted meh. I don't think they were worth the $. I also ordered a sample of their chicken and sausage gumbo which I found to be wicked bad-ass and I will be ordering that on my return visit whenever that is. We then ordered a lb of crawfish and the "vip" which included crab, shrimp, sausage, corn, and new potatoes. We requested the "kitchen sink"for the seasoning in a mild temp which, in my experience, was one of the best flavors I've had. The place was clean and organized along with the bathrooms, well at least the men's was clean and organized. I loved the hand washer they had. All in all, it was a great experience and I would recommend it for your shell fish fix. Our bill averaged around $35-40 a person though well worth it. Adios! read more

So what in the world is this seafood boil?!!!!! Went there last Saturday around 5pm. Got crawfish mild kitchen sink flavoring. More like the crud under the kitchen sink! YuCk! Lack of flavor, lack of spices, full of just salt,full of thick butter, full of something on top of the crawfish, no seasoning inside the meat, looks like mud on top of the crawfish. Some of it was cold. Some tasted spoiled. Some were dead. The sausage was covered in the same brown some sort of seasoning as the crawfish. It was so salty. I had never been but my husband has and it had been yeeeeears for him. We walked in and we're greeted by our super friendly server. He was very on top of things and his service was fast. We got some crab tots and I got a shrimp Po boy and my husband got a catfish basket. The catfish tasted fresh and it was one of the better Po boys I've had in a while. I liked the classic rock theme they had going on too. It was a little out of the way for us since we live in Allen but we'll definitely be back. Shell Shack is delicious! It's no wonder their wait times go upwards of an hour. Whenever we go, we choose Kitchen Sink, which is a myriad of all the seasonings together. This makes it absolutely mouthwatering. The fragrance of your food just makes you salivate. If I had one complaint it would be that it is sometimes a little saltier than other times so a little inconsistent but understandable since you're throwing together all of the seasonings. I think our mistake was ordering all fried dishes because they were all hard fried and indistinguishable in taste. The tater tots were mushy, to boot. Gave two stars because the staff was friendly. Best crawfish in Plano/Frisco hands down! Their gumbo is also perfection, and any catfish that's cooked here gave its life for a worthy cause. Shrimp with the shell on that was so obliterated from cooking that the shell STUCK to the shrimp! It was gross and beef jerky has less chew. In no way was it edible. The seafood is always incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I've never had a poor experience with them and the service is always incredible. Our first time here was 2 or 3 years ago. Came in today and they did not disappoint!!! Our server, Alex, was funny and made a good recommendation for the fries alligator. I've had alligator many other places and theirs is by far the best I've ever had. The breading is light and seasoned well and the gator itself is super tender, not gristly like other places. The crawfish were big for this early in the season and delicious! They cook them perfectly and the kitchen sink seasoning is so good! We are glad they opened a location closer to Fort Worth where we live and can't wait to check out that location. read more
