So happy that Kickin Crab is closer to me now! We used to drive over 40 minutes to get to the nearest location, but Plano solved that problem! We have loved Kickin Crab since living in CA and we're so surprised to see it come to TX. The service is usually on point and the ambiance is with fun, sea themed decor. Our server was very nice but would only give one set of gloves everytime I asked for gloves, even though I asked for "a bunch" since i run through them really fast. idk lol. We were the only table during lunch time on a weekday, but still had to flag down the server from chatting with coworkers every now and then. nbd. Besides that, the crawfish was flavored really well, priced fairly and not a bad size. I think out of the five pounds i ordered, I only picked out about 2 or 3 dead ones. Got the gumbo too, and they were kind enough to separate the rice from the gumbo for me so I could take it home to enjoy it later without it getting too soggy. My favorite thing about this location is that it's newer, super clean and really spacious. We had a mixed experience at our date night here. The decor is very cute, and had a good vibe. I also think overall their price range is very reasonable. Each of our boil bags came out to around $45-50. However, my bf and I had very different food experiences. Bf loved his bag and the size and quality of his items, and said the kickin sauce was the best boil sauce he had had. Mine, as someone who can't handle spice, was abysmal for what I paid. I got the garlic butter and am not kidding when I say it tasted like water. It needed salt, herbs, garlic, literally anything. I asked the waitress for lemons and that made it more edible, but for $45 it was a very poor experience. Also, one of my snow crab clusters was a lot fresher and higher quality than the other. Service was also a bit slow. I'd say we waited over half an hour for our food, and had trouble getting the waitress's attention. I feel like I wasted my money. Bf said his was the best he's had. We came in on a Sunday at around 5:30 pm before rush started, to see if service was better. The place was practically empty and we were greeted then seated in a couple of minutes. Madi was our server and she was really friendly and attentive. She gave us water in a few minutes and immediately took our order. We got 2 lbs of crawfish mild kickin style, with 3 potatoes and 6 sausages. We also ordered rice and their garlic noodles. The garlic noodles were huge! They were good, but nothing really special. I noticed that our sauce this time was very little so we didn't have a lot of sauce to dip our rice or noodles in, which was a bit disappointing. We ordered more crawfish this time, but a lot of the crawfish were cooked too long and so it was harder to peel, and many of the crawfish were tiny, compared to last time. Our total came out to be ~$53 with tip. Not bad, but not exceptionally great either. We may or may not come back next time. The service was definitely way better than during peak times, so I would recommend coming earlier for dinner. read more

Went to Kickin' Crab in Plano, TX and it was amazing! I ordered the Snow Crab Special, which came with 1 lb of snow crab, corn or egg, potatoes, and three sausages. Everythinf was super tasty and perfectly seasoned The service was quick and attentive, and the restaurant itself was very clean. The scenery is definitely a vibe--they had it decorated so cute for Valentine's Day, which made the experience even better. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, and great service. I had thought my sister paid for the order already because you typically place an order and pay. So I went in and the girl handed me the bags and I said "thank you, bye" and left. I was sitting in my car checking everything before we had left and the manager comes up storming aggressively tapping on my window and gave me a rude attitude saying "You didn't pay for the food if you don't pay give me my food back" I was bewildered. Overall, I'd have to say we were disappointed in our experience at this location. The set up was nice, big, and welcoming. However the food, especially the seafood, tasted frozen including the crab. I am not sure if we just didn't go at the right time or stuff is not in season something. The flavoring was decent, but the actual food was just blah. It's a new location so all the staff are brand new and getting hang of the ropes... our waiter was young and kind of made our ordering experience really confusing. We ended up having to order twice because he didn't understand us the first time or got confused. They do offer decent specials though that allow you to order a combo of different meats so nice for families. Glad we got to try it out, but don't think we will be back. read more

We had a wonderful seafood boil dinner here. I ordered a pound each of shrimp and mussels with the Kickin' seasoning and all the fixin's. The medium spice was a very comfortable spice level for me and the seafood was large and generously portioned. Most seafood boil restaurant don't even have mussels and these mussels were incredible, easily the largest I've ever had. The shrimp was very easy to peel and well sauced. Even the sausage was incredible, among the best I've had in a boil. The only thing issue I can think of is that my girlfriend's book was seasoned with the garlic butter and it was almost tasteless. I don't do reviews and this is my first, but this place shows poor professionalism and service. I walked in to order my food. The employees were just gossiping in the corner of the store when I went to order my food. The cashier didn't ask me to pay or anything and usually you pay as soon as you finish ordering but she didn't tell me my total or asked how I was paying, so I assumed that she would ask me to pay later. She just told me that I would be getting a text when the food was ready. I went next door to purchase a few items and came back to check if the food was ready because they had told me that I would be receiving a text from them. Mind you my sister didn't know if I had paid for the food because she had came from another store when we placed the order and she had took the bag and none of the employees had said anything until we were sitting in the car. I believe as soon as everyone got into the car. She comes out of the store and she taps aggressively on my window saying that we never paid for our food. She was being unprofessional and started yelling at us. As soon as we were gonna pay for the meal she said "if you don't pay for the food. Give me my food back." After we paid for the food. She had the audacity to say "Thank you sweetheart." The switch up was crazy. I don't recommend coming here. Take your business to Garland. They will get you right. This place is amazing! Pricey, but good. I was surprised at the many differences between this location and the one I visited in Houston. You'd think the menu would be more uniform and pricing would be similar. It's significantly more expensive at this location. The service was great! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. My server even packaged the rest of my food to go. The ambiance was quiet and there were a lot of families dining in. Do NOT go to this location. Save your tastebuds and grief and go to the Carrollton location. This is the last time I will go here. Went last night and not only was the food bad (I've been to Kickin crab many many times over the years), the customer service was AWFUL. The food was sour. They put way too much lemon (hopefully it was lemon that made it sour), the rice was hard, and the shrimp was overcooked. We asked for head on but when they gave it to us head off, they scooped up the shrimp that was already on our table back into the bag and brought our head on but it was obviously less than the 3 lbs we had ordered. But we didn't fight it because it wasn't good so we didn't want more. Then they overcharged us. 6 slices of sausages was over $7 (which is expensive), and when I showed them that they charged me for more than I ordered, she said it was correct so I believed her. But then when I went home, I realized they had charged me for 18 sausages instead of 12, but they had already closed for the night so I had to call the next day. When I called the next day, they had said they couldn't refund me because that's their store policy: no refunds. I told her that's ridiculous because it was THEIR mistake, but as I was speaking mid-sentence, she disappeared and transferred me to someone else. I had to retell the story to a new worker who was very nice and sympathetic, but he said his manager wouldn't approve the refund because "it was the next day" and their policy is "no refunds" and the best they could do was give me 6 sausages the next time I went. So Ridiculous because, first of all, I never wanna go back there but even if I did, what if I go 3 months later? They're going to remember that they owe me 6 slices of sausage?? PLUS it was THEIR mistake. THEY overcharged me but yet have a policy of No refunds?? How does that make sense?? I told the worker to tell his manager to keep the $7. My gift to them...because when we went in last night at 6:30 pm prime dinner time, that place was EMPTY and now I know why. I told him that he was very kind and thank you for listening because I talked his ear off about how their customer service was awful but he was very patient with me. So if you're reading this, thanks again. But yeah, save yourself time, grief, money, and your tastebuds. Been to the kickin crab in Carrollton and Garland, and both of them are way better in flavor and customer service. Not sure if it's because there were games going on, but service was bad tonight. Servers look like they were just behind the bar watching the tv. Crawfish tasted like how the seafood section in supermarkets smell, had to spit mine out right away. We got two bags of the same flavor, but when the food came out, they were different color sauces, with one a lot saltier than the other. The manager/owner then tried to gaslight us into thinking they're the same flavor, like we don't know what we tasted. Two people in my group also felt very sick on our way home after eating there. If you're wanting to eat at this restaurant, save your time and money and eat at the Carrollton or Garland location! read more

My friend and I visited Kicking Crab in Plano expecting an enjoyable lunch, but unfortunately our experience was completely overshadowed by the way our concerns were handled. What should have been a simple customer service issue escalated into one of the most humiliating dining experiences I have ever had. We arrived at approximately 12:00 p.m. and ordered two margaritas, calamari, a fish and chips basket, and a seafood boil. The calamari were mediocre, and the margaritas, which were served around 12:20 p.m., were extremely syrupy and overly sweet. At approximately 12:22 p.m., we notified our server that the drinks were not drinkable while both glasses were still full. We politely asked whether they could be exchanged for different beverages. Instead, we were told we would still be required to pay for the original drinks, even though they had barely been touched. We requested to speak with the supervisor, whom we later learned was Roxy Lee. Rather than listening to our concerns or attempting to resolve the issue, she directed us to a refund policy printed on a napkin holder. This policy was not disclosed on the menu or posted anywhere that would reasonably be visible to customers before ordering. This was particularly concerning because the restaurant's own website states that refunds may be requested within two hours of food delivery--a timeframe well within which we raised our concerns. As the conversation continued, Lee became increasingly argumentative and raised her voice. I calmly explained that I was not interested in arguing and that the interaction was making me uncomfortable. At that point, we decided we no longer wished to continue our meal. At approximately 12:25 p.m., we asked Lee to return to our table. She responded, "One moment." While we were waiting, another server delivered the fish and chips. When Lee returned, we explained that we had decided to leave and had not touched the food. She insisted that we would be required to pay for at least both the calamari and the fish and chips. When my friend questioned why we should be responsible for food that arrived after we had already decided to leave, Lee loudly stated that she was calling the police because we were refusing to pay. The problem was that we had never been given a bill. I flagged down another server and requested our check. When it arrived, it reflected the full amount of the order. I reminded the server that Lee had previously stated we would only be responsible for the calamari and the fish and chips. He spoke with her and returned, stating that one drink would be removed from the bill. The inconsistent responses only added to the confusion. I then asked for Lee's name, the owner's name, and the server's name. He declined to provide any of that information. Rather than allowing us to simply pay our bill and leave, Lee contacted the Plano Police Department and reported that we had left the restaurant without paying. She also stated that she wanted to pursue criminal trespassing charges, even though we had never been asked to leave and had remained seated at our table the entire time with our payment cards ready. When the responding officers arrived, they immediately recognized that we had not left the restaurant and were simply waiting for our check. They confirmed that the dispatch report indicated we had left without paying, which was simply untrue. One of the responding officers apologized for what we had experienced and encouraged us to escalate the matter to corporate. This incident is documented under Plano Police Department Incident Number 2026-147402. Ultimately, we were never given the opportunity to simply pay and leave. Instead, a straightforward customer service concern escalated into a police response that could have been avoided entirely. We were forced to pay ($54.40) for food and beverages despite our legitimate concerns and our repeated attempts to resolve the matter respectfully. We left the restaurant at approximately 1:00 p.m. feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and shocked by how the situation had unfolded. I understand that every restaurant has policies regarding refunds and exchanges. However, those policies should be clearly communicated before customers place their orders and applied with professionalism, consistency, and good judgment. Calling the police on customers who remained seated, requested their bill, and were fully prepared to pay was not an appropriate or reasonable response. It was unnecessary, humiliating, and entirely avoidable. I sincerely hope management reviews the surveillance footage, employee statements, and the police report to fully understand how this situation unfolded. No customer should have to experience what we did simply for politely raising a concern about the quality of two drinks. I also hope meaningful steps are taken to ensure ALL future guests (not just some) are treated with the professionalism, fairness, and respect they deserve. read more

I had never been to nor heard of a seafood in a bag restaurant, Cajun boil, or the like. So you may be able to imagine my confusion when 2 clear plastic bags filled with cooked clams in sauce (smelling and looking delicious, mind you) were basically plopped down in front of us with little more than an "enjoy". The table between us had 2 drinks, a napkin holder, and these two sacks- literally nothing else. No utensils, plates, bibs, gloves, bucket or instructions. The place had literally just opened so there were no other nearby tables yet taken by others we could scout for answers. I flagged down our server (he was in training) and asked, "how do we eat it?" The server's trainer came by and we learned the basics - that there are no plates or silverware (other than a fork to open some shells), and you can dump the food out on the butcher-paper-covered table and eat with your hands. In our defense, the gloves and bib that usually were provided hadn't been- those would have given us a clue- but the server fixed that immediately. The food was really good. We had a couple kinds of clams, and are looking forward to trying other things in future bags. We also ordered a shrimp and rice plate- the dish with its garlic sauce was very tasty- reminded me a bit of the shrimp truck plates on north shore of Oahu. So despite the odd start, we really enjoyed kickin crab and will be back to try more of the menu. read more

I'm giving this place a 3 stars for the SERVICE. First time trying out this place. The food was good, tasteful and lots of flavor. However, I need to talk about service. Not a big fan. You would expect the waitress/waiter to check on your table to see if you need anything while you're cracking and peeling your meal...NOPE!! We were greeted when we arrived and were seated right away. The place wasn't busy yet. He took our order, which I'm assuming he's fairly new because he didn't know the menu quite well. Completely thought we wanted to order something else, had to correct him and show him the menu. When our meal arrived, we had to ask for a cracker, mind you, there was 2 of us but only got one. Not ideal when one had to wait for the other to use it. As others arrived and seated around our table area. They were treated way better. Their waitress and greeter checked on them way more often. Our waiter NEVER came back to us, we were there a good 40 mins since our food arrived! When we were ready to go, we had to get someone's attention to ask for the check and box. I did mention to that different waiter that no one ever checked on us. Please teach your waitress and waiters to keep checking on their table and needs of their customers, given the type of food that you are serving. Customer service should be impressive to your customers to keep having them come back and tipped appropriately. I was disappointed in the service but no complaints of the food. read more

Now that's what I call service! The place is a few months just opened. Clean place and great atmosphere. But let's get to the meat and bones! The food was superb and I'm not exaggerating steamy and tasty. Such flavors and the margarita mango/strawberry was refreshing we ordered one half snow crabs and half shrimp kicking medium and a side of spicy! And let me tell you it was so good we placed a second order. The shrimp were a great size and the way they cooked them just right. All was just amazing and our new go to seafood food place! We were greeted by Jennifer, who I later found out was the manager. Service started off okay; however, we never received bibs, gloves, or utensils for the crab legs, while other tables around us had everything they needed. I ordered the $34.99 bag with broccoli and rice. A few minutes later, a gentleman brought the broccoli out separately on a platter and told me I would need to put the broccoli into the bag myself. I explained that I've dined here several times before and have never been told to do that. He returned and insisted that I would have to add it myself. At that point, I told him I no longer wanted the broccoli because that has never been my experience here. Jennifer then came back to the table with the same broccoli. I explained the situation again, and that's when she informed me she was the manager. Instead of listening and resolving the issue professionally, she began arguing with me. As a manager, her leadership and customer service skills were very disappointing. She never returned to our table afterward and instead sent another young lady to assist us. From that point on, we had to repeatedly ask for refills, to-go bags, and other basic service needs. Tone is everything. Had she calmly explained that the broccoli does not go in the bag, I simply wouldn't have ordered it. There was no reason for the situation to escalate. Additionally, the rest of our order was incorrect. We were missing a full pound of shrimp, and the shrimp that we did receive did not have the heads on them as requested. Just opened so we tried it out. Clean modern fresh looking inside. It's seafood boil style so you order by the pound. We got shrimp and sausage. Kickin sauce medium spicy. When the bag hit the table the smell was incredible. If you get fries, dunk them in the sauce. I have an ok spice tolerance and the medium was just enough to still be delicious but not too spicy for me. Very fast and friendly and fast service also. I really tried giving this place a second try because I love their Carrollton location but this is not it. This location's boils are extremely dry. And they charge you $4 for a SMALL side of extra sauce. After seeing the size of the extra sauce we asked for we simply asked for a refund and they took about 10-15 minutes for the manager to come with this rude attitude saying she wouldn't give us a refund. I tried giving this place a second chance because it's so much closer to me, but it's such a disappointment. And not mention how rude management was about the whole situation.
