This might be my new fav place!! The crawfish were decent size and perfectly plump and juicy! The snow crab legs were super meaty too. One thing to note though...since they have diff flavors to choose from, the actual meat itself is pretty bland. You can tell it's just boiled plain and then tossed in the sauce of your choice, which means the flavor is really only on the shell. However...I just dipped into the sauce it was tossed in (we got kitchen sink) and it was pretty delicious. Also, a bit on the pricey side ($16.99/lb for snow crab legs, $8.99/lb for crawfish, and $15.99 for a dozen oysters which weren't that big at all) ... But I wouldn't let that stop me from coming back. I'll most certainly be a regular here during crawfish season...not necessarily bc they have the best seafood ever, but more bc it's close, it's pretty good, and I'm a fiend. Yumzzz! While I enjoyed my meal, it was a bit pricey in my opinion, but it's seafood and seafood is expensive. I had a lovely young girl who waited on me and was really sweet but it took forever to get my bill and once I did get it, I had to go up the bar area where she was talking with one of the male workers and ask if she could check me out so I could go back to work. It was all "honey & sweetie" up to that point where she then called me "ma'am". All the girls here are very young, high school age or college and look really cute in their short shorts and call the patrons who are predominantly men, honey & sweetie. I get it. However, call me old fashioned but I don't feel that it's appropriate for a girl young enough to be my daughter calling me honey and sweetie. It's just doesn't set well with me. Best seasoning: kitchen sink. Next order of business, get the crawfish and the snowcrab. The corn soaks up all of the flavors, so make sure you get yourself some of that. They even have a handwashing machine that you stick your hands into, so this already makes it better than at least half the crawfish places out there. As much as I love this place for the type of food they offer, I was pretty disappointed with my last to go order. I placed a lunch order for pick up and it was done fairly quickly (almost too quickly-10mins). I ordered the crab "uptown style" which means it's pre shelled and comes with an orzo pasta side and I added a corn. The whole thing cost me $44 which was a rip off because whoever was shelling the crab, left SEVERAL pieces in the meat that I bit into during my whole meal. Not only that but it was totally butchered into tiny pieces. I don't pretend to be an expert but even my 11 yr old daughter and I can de-she'll crab legs WAY better than that. We came in and stood up by the door for 10 min and nobody ask us anything... Finally we got seated. We asked for 6lbs after 30min we asked for 2 more pounds and it took more than an hour to get it.. The service was perfect! My friend and I ordered the VIP. Though the food was tasty, the shrimp wad NOT properly cleaned. I literally cleaned my own shrimp as I ate them. Unacceptable!! The food is expensive, the service was poor, and the portions are small. I was with a group of 6-7 for lunch. Our waitress left our table twice while taking orders, to talk to another server. Each time she came back she started over with the orders. Not a good start. Not wanting to spend 20+ on lunch I opted for a "bowl" of clam chowder and a side of hush puppies. The "bowl" of soup was smaller than most cup portions I've had, it was tiny. Moreover, I had plenty of cans of Campbell's clam chowder in my college days, and I'm pretty sure that's what this was. The hush puppies were bland and only the size of quarters. I left still hungry. Very hungry. To be fair, a couple of people ordered the lemon garlic, and their dishes smelled very good. But their portions were also small. I did try one of the crawfish, "diablo" style, and they were cooked well, but the seasoning was all straight cayenne--no complexity of flavor. The menu says that they add a 20% gratuity for parties of a certain size. No problem, lots of places do. But when the bills came out, that 20% was added as a "service fee" with no mention that gratuity was already included. They even gave recomended tips on the bottom of the bill, so most of us ended up tipping twice. Pretty unethical. read more

It's good. 3/5 food. Solid shrimp and crawfish, with sweet corn that'll leave you wanting more, but all pretty standard Cajun fare. I found the kitchen sink to be a little salty for my taste, but flavor is right on as far as spice goes (I got medium heat). Prices are market price, but I found them on par with places like the Boiling Crab and other seafood boil spots. Plus, the fact that's it's crawfish season means a steaming pound will only run you $8.99, which is a deal I can get behind. The crawfish were kind of small, but I'm sure that varies based on luck/the batch. Potatoes are fork tender and soak up that delicious kitchen sink mix. Definitely need that starch to combat the saltiness though. Sausages are nothing to write home about, and you can add sets of 3 to your boil order. They had a couple of games playing in the background, and the servers were accommodating when someone asked to watch a specific game. 4/5 service. Our waitress came by several times to ask how everything was and refill our waters. Pretty standard service. It's worth checking out if you're in the area! read more

Nat is my favorite. My husband and I sat at the bar and we ordered crawfish and buffalo shrimp. I had a great experience because my crawfish was really good and I am super picky about it. The crawfish is flown in fresh and tasted fresh. It did not taste frozen so I believe they are flown in. Food was delicious. Service was great! I am on AW. It's messy, it's loud but oh so yummy! We started with a plate of raw oysters, they were shucked and cleaned well and perfectly chilled. Then we had the shrimp and king crab with hot kitchen sink seasoning. The waitress came out with a bag and dumps it out on a metal tray. The seasoning is so amazing!!! We didn't even need sides as a filler. I can't wait to go back and try other flavor combinations. The hand washing station at the back of the restaurant is a fun way to get clean. I understand we are in a pandemic and life is crazy. I tried to overlook the fact that they had forgotten two of the sauces that came with our meal. All I wanted was some hot grilled shrimp. I didn't taste any garlic or butter as stated on the menu but they had an old sweet taste? I have never eaten shrimp this tough and they still had the shell on which was not mentioned on the "Grilled" section of the menu. I have been coming to this location for over a year and have continuously received exceptional service from every member of the Shell Shack team. The bartenders (and servers) Jake, Dominic, Chandler, Big Bill and Tony go above and beyond to make everyone have a great experience and feel welcome. I've witnessed multiple people celebrating birthdays at SS and I am certain they go above and beyond, if Dominic is your server he will serenade you to "Happy Birthday," that will quiet the whole restaurant. Chad* also makes your birthday exceptional!! The management team is phenomenal and very hands on. Though, Tyler O. is one of the most personable managers I've encountered in any of the places I've frequented. He somehow makes making it a point to stop by regulars to say "Hello," makes sure that the bar is running smoothly, if the servers are busy he fills in any position needed, and he will bus tables, run food, take to go orders AND make it all look effortless in the process.. impressive. So as i stated in my previous review shell shack was my boyfriend and I's go to. Unfortunately i was in the hospital this week so when so when I got out we decided to celebrate by coming to our fave. This was our first time back since my last review. So I decided to give an additional star purely because of the service in this specific experience. Our waiter was Dominic and he was great! I always order snow crab and my bf king crab. Well mine was a little cold but my boyfriends was really hot. I asked to have it a little Hotter. He took care of this right away. It came back very hot but I could only pick at it at that point. I didn't realize he sent the manager over on purpose but I said nothing. There was nothing wrong with it after, i was just kind of over it. Service is very important to me and because of the service tonight we will bring Shell Shack back into one of our favorites.
