My favorite rolls are the super crunch roll (the Asian pear pairs SO WELL with everything!), eel roll, spicy tuna roll, volcano roll and the shrimp tempura roll. TERRIBLE SERVICE--OVER AN HOUR WAIT FOR OUR FOOD. After we graciously gave up our table to another group and moved to the counter, the sushi chef served everyone in restaurant before us--including people who arrived after us. THE GROUP THAT TOOK OUR TABLE FINISHED THEIR DINNER BEFORE WE WERE SERVED. Every time our waitress complained to the sushi chef, he ignored her and continued preparing other meals. Ordered the super crunch roll and dynamite. It took them 30 mins to serve the super crunch roll and ended up cancelling the dynamite. There were just a couple of tables occupied around 3 tables when we came in. Bad service. The roll was also ordinary nothing special. read more

Fantastic authentic sushi spot slightly off the beaten path. If you want to enjoy an intimate Japanese dinner away (but within walking distance) from the noise of King street, this is the spot. We had seaweed salad and miso soup to start, followed by the spicy tuna, and the SHIKI super crunch roll. Spicy tuna rolls are everywhere (and a pretty basic sushi item), but this was actually the best one we've ever eaten. No joke. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Shi Ki is easily my favorite restaurant to eat at downtown, and my favorite place to get sushi period. The food is fantastic and always fresh, and the staff are lovely people. The prices are reasonable, and absolutely unbeatable for the level of quality they bring. I have yet to be disappointed in anything on the menu, and James is always accommodating if there is something you would like substituted, or prepared differently than listed. We have been to this quaint little family owned place several times. When they have it, the toro is fabulous. The salmon is also excellent. Both have a nice rich, fatty quality to them. First visit to Shiki based on reviews here. Was a bit skeptical due to the location but we wanted to find our 'go-to' sushi restaurant downtown. Well we found it! Small but nice spot with a number of tables taken when we arrived. The owner was behind the sushi bar making his creations--even gave us a comp cucumber roll in between our orders. Great prices, great portions, friendly staff, and delicious food. The menu is massive and has plenty of options. Vegetarian friendly with tofu options (I had the Inari, which was delicious), vegetable sushi options, and other entrees. Only problems aren't the businesses fault, more the strip center it's located in. It has very little parking the venue is small because of how many businesses are fit in there. read more

The fish is not fresh and most of the sushi sucks. This place used to be really good (I was a regular) but now it's too pricey for the quality. The only good things on the menu are the Super Crunch Roll (quite tasty), Dynamite, and the ice cream. If you go, stick to these and non-fish dishes and you will have a good meal. read more

Decent food and doing well until we encounterd the owner. She managed to take a minor issue with a coupon to a shouting level where even her staff turned away shamefaced.
