I was in town eloping (!) and needed to get gels done. I called and lucked out that someone had flaked on Emelie. So, I snagged their appointment. I can't even imagine why someone would do that because Emelie is fantastic! I'd never had gels done before. These lasted over three weeks. I only got them redone because my nails were growing out too long. The new ones I had done at a salon at home chipped and cracked in 10 days. Best manicure I've had in my life, HANDS DOWN (pardon the pun). Not only were all the ladies that work there super friendly and nice, they are amazing at what they do. I don't care the price, I'll go back just for the experience. Jasmyne spent so much time (and energy) making my nails perfect, it was incredibly refreshing that she wanted my nails to be just as perfect as I wanted when I left. She even repainted my left hand three times bc the polish was hardening weird, which I didn't mind at all bc it ended up amazing. I have never had such a good time getting a manicure. This is such a good place to go! Nicole is amazing at pedicures and so so sweet!! New is not a way to judge a person and I would have never known that she is new unless she said something! I got a great massage and such a perfect polish job! This is not a chop shop salon, you won't always walk in and get a chair, but make an appt, cuz it's worth the wait. Really sad to say but feel like people should know. I don't get my nails done too often so was checking reviews for places to go. This place has amazing looking photos and reviews so thought it'd be great. However the lady who booked me was Nicole and didn't find out til we got there but she is very new and only knew how to do very simple flower designs. That was very disappointing after seeing all the photos of great designs other people do here. She was obviously very inexperienced and my gel set started cracking within 2 days. I'm on vacation now with the polish already peeling off. Gel usually lasts me a month. Also charged way more than other places I have been to and wasn't even a really nice place. No massage chairs or nice foot baths. I was just very sad mostly by what the photos made me expect, so just be careful who you book with. Apparently she is in charge of answering the phone and will just set up appointments for herself. read more

So I wanted to try this place out but it's over a 3 week wait. Not down to wait that long for nails when there's dozens of places to go. Maybe consider making it easier to get an appointment? People new to the area or looking for new places won't bother ever trying to make an appointment again after being told they have to wait till after April 6th for new nails. read more

Nicole is wonderful! I still go regularly for mani and pedi, never any chipping and I now even have acrylic with a gel mani and no chipping or breakage. I am thrilled with how natural they look and she uses Young Nails products and I feel they are the best, which is why they last so long and don't chip or break. I read negative reviews about her services and I find it hard to believe they are true. Nicole is terrific . She is also a peaceful person to have working on you. Looking at the 2 reviews posted at the time this seemed like a great place to go. So while visiting in Santa Cruz I decided to stop by. I'm assuming there were women doing nails in the back because I could here them laughing and talking but there was a wall so I couldn't see anyone but one customer getting her toes done. The rest of the shop was empty. I waited for about 5 minutes and nobody ever came out to the front so I left and went next door. Not a good experience. read more

I've been a customer of Nails 2 Envy for over 15 years. All five of the ladies who work there are friendly, competent technicians who are more than happy to work with you to help you achieve the look you want for your nails. They keep themselves up to date on the latest and greatest technologies for nails and are more than happy to accommodate preferences using all the various products available. Though I am a regular customer of Cheryl, I've had my nails done at one time or another by all five of the women in the shop. They are all good. The pedicures are excellent and include a relaxing massage that is absolutely wonderful. I would rather have an expensive pedicure at Nails 2 Envy once a month than an inexpensive pedi every week at a discount salon. Finally; safety is really important to me and I have NEVER had a problem with my nail beds or toenails in all the years I've been a customer of Nails 2 Envy. I noticed that another customer complained on here about the salon using a bucket of water to do the pedicures. That's exactly right. They do...and it's the only safe way to have a pedicure. Water circulating through the pipes at the salons that use pedicure chairs with circulating water can and do have problems with AFB (mycobacterium) in their water. I would never have a pedicure at a salon using one of those chairs. read more

Had another pedicure with Shakira today. They have the new gel nail polish "gelous" that lasts a long time now! Several of my friends (that didn't previously get manicures) have booked appointments with her since the manicure will last so much longer now! Her pedis are as fabulous as ever. Also really wanted to point out (mostly to respond to the reviewer that gave them one star) that they don't have a receptionist and don't often have walk-ins! If you stop in and they are doing pedicures in the back (there is a wall there) use your common sense, walk to the back and let them know that you are there! Jeez....some people. read more

Shakira's been doing my nails for 7 years, she is THE ONE. I have 25+ yrs experience with faux nails, tried everything, currently prefer natural-looking acrylics (no, they don't have to be thick and ugly, and the tips do not have to be blindingly white, unless you want them to be). I frequently travel and have experienced many salons ... some women hurry back to husbands, significant others and pets, I hurry back to Shakira. OK, sweetie pie husband, too. ...And I agree w/ the other reviewers, Shakira's pedicures are awesome, you get transported. I have visited this salon many times over the past few years. With my occupation I am unable to keep artificial nails, but I enjoy having them done for special occasions and regular manicures. This salon has recently had a face lift and is a very comfortable and welcoming. I like that they are very obvious about their sanitation, after all the horror stories about skin eating bacterias this is an important feature for me. The one bad thing- they aren't open on Sundays or Mondays. They are a little more expensive but the service and atmosphere are definitely worth it. I don't like being fed through a conveyor belt and left to watch TV. read more

Shine Nail Salon just moved to this new location on Soquel Ave from being in Seabright for many years under a different name: Nails to Envy. I have been going to Emilie for years. She can do everything including nail art. Shakira owns the place now and has updated it with a cool hip vibe. Everything is clean, modern, and fresh. Although I've gone to Emilie over the years, there's been a couple times where Shakira or Cheryl have taken me in if Emilie could not and they are fantastic too. I can't say enough about how wonderful this salon is! I was visiting a friend and it happen to fall on the day I was due for an acrylic fill. I had an appointment somewhere else but because of the storm I had to find somewhere else and called this little gem and Quynh had an opening the next day. The salon was incredibly clean. Quynh is the sweetest manicurist I have ever met, she offered me coffee, water, tea, and even her tamale if I was hungry! Because my nails were in bad shape she thought it was best to do a whole new set, so she was so accommodating that she was able to have her next appointment come in early if I was able to come back in an hour. (It wasn't for more money, she was concerned about me getting an infection and for me to have exactly what I wanted). She was so concerned about doing a good job and making me happy because I wasn't from out of town. I got chrome acrylic and they were IMPECCABLE.
