For a buffet it's pretty good. I've never had any "fishy" sushi here. I would still prefer to go to an actual Japanese Restaurant though.

This Japanese buffet had great food and an okay atmosphere. The noise level wasn't an issue. The servers weren't that engaging of the customers, but friendly at the most. The service itself was on-point and well-done. My only complaint is that they played " Happy Birthday " like 5 times while my friends and I were there. Overall, a good experience. read more

A better than average Asian Buffet. It is primarily a sushi buffet but it has some traditional chinese buffet dishes that are good also. I am not a huge sushi fan but I stuck to the typical California rolls and the like but there are plenty of choice of other sushi dishes. The other chinese dishes are good, especially the coconut shrimp which I went back for twice. It is really good. I would recommend this buffet. read more

I'm an adventurous eater, but whenever I go to a new (in this case just openened, brand spanking new) Japanese Buffet, I fear food poisoning. Thankfully, I didn't have to pray to the porcelain god this time around, especially after stuffing my "supposedly dieting" face. Oh yeah, another point... dont go here if you're looking to lose weight (JB rolls covered in spicy mayo and eel sauce, on top of hibachi goodness and followed by green tea ice cream are probably not good for the gut) anyways, back to the point... I've been to a decent few sushi/japanese buffets. This one is in my top 5. No you wont get an expertly prepared softshell crab roll here, but for some decent albeit non-creative rolls, and fresh sashimi, this place is pretty decent. They do have an assortment of salads (seaweed, calamari, etc. ) , a few decent hot prepared selections such as a "black pepper beef" that seems pretty common to this type of establishment, another decent sesame chicken, but i couldnt consider anything decadent. (note... I dont really reccomed the fried wontons... I tasted no meat whatsoever, and they had the consistancy of gritty mashed potatoes, truly unappetizing) and the regular assortment of soups (Miso, wonton, egg drop, hot and sour), a desert bar, and my favorite... the Hibachi. The price is right (10 bucks for lunch) and the service is nothing to write home about. It doesnt really stand out from other buffets. An occasional peek here and there, and 15 minutes to get our checks ready. One thing I have to say, is that the place was CLEAN.... this is paramount. Nice and Clean. Spic and Span.... whatever you want to call it. I didnt walk in and feel like walking right back out. all in all. Not a place to take a hot date, but it works if you want to get lunch with your buddies. End transmission. read more

The Chinese food is good, but they could use some more options for people that don't eat sushi/seafood. Everything that I did have was good (but I'm kind of a picky eater and didn't have many options. The service was kind ehhh. I'm really obsessed with this place. It's bad! A beautiful selection of sushi and the best part: ALL YOU CAN EAT! Shinju is hands down the best buffet I have ever been to, considering I have been to every buffet on the planet. I'm a fatty... I know! My family and I came here for my Mama's birthday so there were six of us and my two year old nephew. Our waitress was extremely nice and didn't mind the fact that my nephew was running in circles around the table pretending he was a racecar. VROOOM! Instead, she actually talked to him a bit and brought him cherry tomatoes to snack on. If you mind prices, stop by for lunch. Dinner is a bit pricey, but totally worth it in my opinion. This was my first Shinju location and in my opinion the superior location as well. All you can eat sushi? All you can eat hibachi? Yes please. Sure, the quality isn't as high as what you would find at a swanky seafood/sushi restaurant, but that's to be expected when you're only paying $13-15. With that being said, I'd still argue that the sushi here is better than I've had at other restaurants. Everyone has their favorite rolls (mine is the Spicy Tuna), but with the large variety they have here, I'm sure you're bound to satisfy your sushi craving. In addition to the sushi and hibachi, they have a decent offering of your traditional Chinese buffet items. As is the case with most (all?) Asian buffets, the dessert selection is pitiful. read more

For a buffet I'm definitely a fan. The price did however, go up a $1 from $10.95 on weekends to $11.95 (guess it was a grand opening thing because that's how much the other ShinJu charges). I do love their tempura squid among other things, but buffets are buffets so try not to stuff yourself but their food is good and for the price, well the quality is efficient. I liked their sushi rolls too; good variety. Nice decor, dining and bathroom (lol). I would definitely come back. read more

This spot is located in an old Bennigan's restaurant on University, and is a great addition to the area. I recently had my first experience and the first thing that stands out was the cleanliness of the restaurant. This place was literally spotless, and very nice for an all you can eat. The hibachi was solid, and the selection of food was excellent. I appreciated the variety of sushi they had, with at least 12 different rolls and other fish laid out nicely. This is not the spot for excellent food, but it was definitely a solid lunch with friends. For 10.50, you cannot beat the amount and quality of the food you get for their lunch buffet. I would like to try dinner as well and absolutely recommend this to others. read more

My first visit here was a very good one. Mainly a sushi buffet (and a very large one at that), it also has hibachi and Chinese food. The sushi was very good with an interesting variety and they had some good salad accompaniments (like a nice seaweed salad). The Chinese food was also quite good and included staples like sweet and sour, beef with broccoli, wonton soup, and so on. I didn't make it to the hibachi, but it looked good. Went there with the family yesterday. The sushi wasn't that great. The Chinese was ok, but not a big selection. They got two stars for the habachi. But I think I should getting the stars since I picked and chose what I wanted in it ;). Seriously though, they charge you $2 for a pot of tea when other buffets in the area don't and have a bigger selection and are cheaper. read more

This place is really really good. Sushi portions are smaller than you might find at other restaurants close by but who cares, go back as much as you like. So many fresh varieties of sushi and sashimi. The baby octopus is wonderful, ceviche is plentiful and whoa... I made too many trips to the sushi. Should have taken a lap around the place first. Snow crabs, oysters, green mussels, shrimp. Whaaaaat, there is a hibachi and full Chinese buffet. I can't walk, which door can accommodate my wheelbarrow? I want to make another trip to the desert bar but need someone to carry me over there. Wow, called Uber and got a lift to the desert bar. Nice cookies and creme brûlée. Surprised I could spell this since they also have a full service bar. Speaking of service, very delightful. I guess my red neck was showing since they brought over a nice set of pliers. Went here years ago with friends from school and saw a roach crawling right by the salad area. We told the manager and she assured us that they had it under control and that the bug guy was "coming today". I never returned but now I see that they were recently cited for having a serious bug issue. This was almost 2 years ago that we witnessed the issue and they still haven't corrected it. On top of that they are STILL open. Amazing. It's sad that so many people post great reviews about this place but don't see the many reviews in which ppl report seeing bugs. read more

Asian buffet. I did not find the sushi very fresh and the hibachi was very oily. It was pretty expensive for what it was. The desserts were all pretty cheap. I would't come back here. The two stars were for the variety, quantity, and cleanliness. They do have a huge selection for a buffet and they continually replace the food as it runs low. A step above Kyojin. The sushi is better and the hibachi grill operator allows for a greater combination of meats + veggies. If you live east, its a bit of a drive (and I say that because us East Lauderdale people are a bit spoilt by having everything within a 1 mile radius) but worth it. I like that I now have an option to the clutches of Kyojin. Prices are pretty much the same. read more

I'm not normally a fan of buffets in general, and the thought of a sushi buffet is not appetizing at all. However, Shinju provides some pretty good food at an amazing value. Located across from Nova Southeastern University, this place gets pretty full for lunch on any day of the week. I have been here several times for lunch and have not had a bad experience. The reason this buffet succeeds is they have a literal army of employees working. You have 3-4 sushi chefs onsite constantly replenishing the selection with freshly made pieces, 2 hibachi chefs taking a la carte orders, and an army of other staff constantly refreshing the Chinese buffet and clearing tables. Very clean and very efficient. It is not the best sushi I have ever had, but definitely not bad at all. Great value for $11. read more

Well I have been here before but last times the food was very off. Some sushi was bad. Couldn't eat it. I think the avocado was spoiled. My daughter chose a few desserts and they were hard and old. They tasted like they were in the freezer for years. Like mildew. My daughter ended up getting sick. I let the waitress know. I eventually talked to the owner and explained that the desserts were old and tasted bad. Her response to my complaint? She asks if I want to take the cake home. No I don't I just told you it was bad, I replied back. No apology. She just said that their desserts are frozen. They don't make any desserts there. She kept asking if I wanted to take cake home. I told her I didn't but would accept a discount. She said she could only take 10% off of one meal only. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

Don't know about this place. It has good reviews so we gave it a shot. When I walked in it was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. The food however was bland, not that big of a selection. I love sushi and got excited when I saw the large selection of sushi. However to be honest I've had better sushi from a supermarket than what I found here. Waitress was nice but had to ask three times for water and the others in my party had to ask several times for a second drink. Maybe it was just an off night. read more

I don't go to shinju for the hot food but for the oysters, crab, and sushi . If I were coming for just the oysters which I love it would be worth it. Everything was fresh and worth every penny. We were there a couple of days ago and we are going again tonight. Can't Wait! read more
