Extremely disappointing to order a $16 halibut sandwich with beautiful perfectly cooked fish, only to have it served on a burned bun. We were there at a slow time, and my single sandwich was all that they were cooking. The entire sandwich ended up tasting bitter and weird. I removed the fish and ate it alone but (a) if I'd wanted fish and chips I would have ordered that and at a lower price, and (b) the breading on the bottom of the fish was completely soaked through with pickle juice and had to be pulled off. I'm a long time customer who brought them many new customers , I am sad to have to write this review. The last two times I have come in and ordered the full order halibut, I noticed the portion sizes are half of what they used to be 3 months ago. It appears they cut the pieces in half. The first time I thought it was a fluke but when it happened to me again today, I know now it's deliberate. It's one thing to raise prices but leave the portion size the same. You did both. They also raised the prices! Now $20 for a full order. Not worth it for what they are giving as portion size now. Sorry ships out but I'm out! I won't be coming back. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch twice in the last two weeks. Came here because of the great reviews. Fish & chips were good, the fries are battered just like the fish. Not my favorite. Slaw is too sweet for us. Tartar was good. Clam chowder was very good. Husband had the burger and said it was really good. Outdoor tables are in a greenhouse type building and you bus your own food baskets, condiments are shared, no one washes tables or wipes down condiments that I could see. Nice clean restroom. My complaint is Price Gouging. Not just once but twice. Don't know if the kidz are adding in their own very generous tip or what? Or if it's a special price for folks with out of state license plates? Anyway, the price was equal to a clean heated atmospheric sit down server table local fare meals w/beers at the popular breweries. While the food was good, it wasn't worthy of the overcharging. read more

I highly recommend Enola's Ship Out. I love fish and chips and have tried them in Iceland, all over Alaska, and up & down the Oregon coast. As a native Astorian, I am so thankful that we have another wonderful place to eat in the area that offers great food at affordable prices! I also appreciate that they understand seafood isn't for everyone and have many great alternatives on their menu. Amazing food and customer service really shine at this family-owned food cart plus heated seating/eating area. They have rotating daily specials and a wide selection of seafood, burgers, sandwiches, and dogs. Met with friends visiting from Southern California at " Enola's Ship Out " after the drive from Portland. I planned the meeting after all of the 5-star reviews here on Yelp and understanding the crew started this wonderful place after many years at our former favorite place in Astoria, the Ship Inn. We all had the Halibut Fish and Chips and everything was far better than expected, especially compared to our former favorite for me and my wife. This restaurant deserves the 5-star rating with warm cordial service and excellent food, fresh and delicious Halibut with a superb lightly battered coating and the best tarter sauce with a Cole Slaw Salad. The fries ( chips ) were perfection as well and generously proportioned with the large serving of the fish. Spent time with Enola herself ( the owner ) for a great understanding of how the " Ship Out " came to be, with our complements on the food and restaurant environment being well received. We were so pleased that we will return soon to our new ' favorite place' ! ! ! read more

We just finished eating at Ship Out. One person had the stuffed hot dog with kraut. She said it was delicious. The other person had a bowl of clam chowder. It was too thick, not very hot and the bacon was too fatty. The tomato basil soup of the day was good and also hot. The reason for the 3 atar and not 4 is the need to use a portable potty. read more

Hubby and I have ordered hamburgers here twice. A nice sized patty on a toasted bun lettuce, mayo, cheese, onion, pickles, packets of sweet pickle relish and mustard. Wanted to support a local business after seeing awesome food pics on their facebook page, but stopped by and was totally shocked at the utter disregard for any COVID-19 safety precautions at this place. PHASE 1 reopening hasn't even been approved yet and they weren't even following the most basic of practices. Their dining room was OPEN (supposed to be takeout only!) , 3 employees were crammed in their food cart (no masks and no social distancing), another employee was running food to customers with no mask or gloves and then not washing her hands before delivering another order. This was all in plain view...their service door is open. A few customers were waiting in their car for orders and another couple waited away from the cart, but a bunch were in the dining room. So disappoining! I don't care how good your food might be, if you are putting your need for some $$ over the safety needs of the public, I'll spend my $$ elsewhere. There are plenty of small businesses and food carts in Astoria that are struggling, but they still manage to follow the rules and have adapted to put public safety first!! read more

I make regular visits to Astoria and love to eat and hang with the locals. This is as local as you can get tucked away from the tourist areas. Owned and operated by a local family with years of experience at the now closed Ship Inn. Side note, it's a food cart, so don't expect fancy. A must stop on each of my trips! read more

Took my wife here during a recent visit to Astoria. Wasn't sure what to expect but their halibut fish & chips were excellent. The prawn po boy was delicious too. Lots of seating available with an eclectic ambiance. They don't sell alcohol but you are welcome to bring in your own. Would definitely return again in the future. read more

We tried to go to Bow Picker but they were closed. Lucky us! We found this cute little cart for great fish and chips. We also shared a bowl of chowder. All excellent! We ate in lunch in the adjacent greenhouse which was great as it was raining that day. We even bought some garden art from the owner. We will be back! read more

Wow. The special was a Philly Dip sandwich. We saw how big these were so decided to share one. The staff divided the one sandwich into two "boats" It came with delicious French fries, dip sauce and fry sauce. Will go back again and try fish and chips next time. Well worth the lunch. Best halibut fish n' chips in Astoria! The coleslaw was a little bland one time, but usually it is flavorful. You get 4 big pieces and lots of fries and tartar sauce. Really nice ladies working in the truck, and if you want to sit and eat there is a renovated greenhouse that has plenty of seating. 10/10 recommend. read more

We chose this place because we were in the area and they had outdoor seating available. The person who took our order was very nice. I wanted to wash my hands before eating but they didn't have a sink, just hand sanitizer. The halibut and cod both tasted very fresh and had a light, crisp batter. The fries were battered, not great. The cole slaw was too sweet for my taste. But the chowder was terrible. It was just a cup of cream with virtually no clams or anything else. Maybe the server scooped from the top?
