Juicy, delicious and substantial charbroiled burger with the best fries ever.

Ship Out is definitely one of our favorite go to spots. You're always guaranteed to have tasty eats and polite service. Their halibut fish and chips are great. Their chicken "burger" is always tasty and their hamburgers have that delicious charbroiled taste, that makes your mouth water and your belly happy. The seafood chowder is also good. And on top of all that, their fries are some of the best, crispy, tasty fries I've ever had! Take out or sit down in their cozy, funky building. It's a fun place to share a meal. Don't skip out on Ship Out!

We found ourselves in Warrenton at lunchtime today and stopped by the funky Ship Out. Is it a good cart? Is it a sit down restaurant? Yes to both! You order at a food cart and sit down in a generous greenhouse type shelter which also sells funky wall decorations, mugs, beach bric-a-brac. A fountain in the middle of the eating area sounded beautiful mingled with the sound of bird sing in the partially open roof. We were greeted by a friendly young woman behind the high window of the cart. Both my companion and I ordered halibut fish and chips. We are glad we did! I consider myself a fish and chips connoisseur and these were some of the best I've had. The halibut was flaky and perfectly cooked. The batter was light and flavorful and properly greasy. The French fries were also incredible--crispy and perfect. Both the fish and the chips were steaming hot when they were delivered to our table. The servings were generous. The side of coleslaw was fresh and tasty. The meals were not inexpensive, but both of us were glad we sprang for these. I think Ship Out will be on regular rotation when we go to the Oregon Coast!

It's a fish and chips day............SO.......we came to SHIP OUT! We come here every time we are in Astoria. It is a favorite go to place since 2017. We enjoyed a Halibut basket, it was hot, fresh, flakey, not fishy and DELICIOUS! Husband had the Oysters basket which were just as good. The French fries are wonderful and the coleslaw just right! What makes extra terrific fried food is the oil and the oil was clean, clear and not greasy, it was PERFECT! Comfortable setting, covered, brought food to the table, paper towels and had lots of condiments!

I was skeptical about this place as it was out of our way on the road back to Washington from the Oregon Coast, and then found out at the register that they don't sell beer 8-). However, let me tell you how GLAD I am that we stopped here for lunch!! This place is most likely the best fish and chips I have ever had... in my life. The breading was light and full of flavor, fish cooked to perfection on both the Cod fish and chips and the Halibut sandwich. The I couldn't get enough of the homemade tartar sauce and spicy sauce that came with the halibut sandwich. The fries were great too but the main attraction was to die for! I'm almost glad I don't live closer because I would seriously eat here at least twice a week if I could. If you are able to stop by here, you must!!

The caesar and cod fish salad. Yummy. It took a little while to get the food, but I had some emails to write and I was standing in the sun. Let's just say it was worth the wait. The ambiance was very nice a bunch of older type knick knacks from the farm and from the beach as well as indoor seating and outdoor seating. For those of you that like poetry.. As I sit and feel Cool ocean breeze Against my skin, I spy in tall dune grass, Something yummy to eat. Helping me to enjoy some time off In a place that I like very much.

Don't be put off by the exterior. This is a fabulous restaurant/ food truck. The food truck/ kitchen is at the front and then across the covered wall-way is a lovely big covered area with heaters and lots of seating. We had the haddock fish and chip which was amazing!! And the prawns were great. The chowder was perfection-full of fish and goodness. The service was quick and super polite. I would recommend this place to anyone heading to Astoria.

The shrimp and oysters were battered in such a crisp light batter and were cooked to perfection. The tartar sauce was so tasty and creamy. The oyster shooters were interesting. Unique that they served them with cocktail sauce and lettuce. First time ever that we have experienced lettuce in an oyster shooter. The clam chowder had good dill flavor with lots of clams. It's a little more thin than I like but it was still very good. We really enjoyed the food and how fresh everything tasted. The oil is clean and does not weight down the fish or batter. Love there was plenty of seating and they even have little knick knacks for sale. I bought a dragonfly keepsake. Definitely on our list to stop by anytime we are the area or just passing through.

Off the beaten path and not sure the location was right. From the roadway it looked like the place used to be a garden center with a food truck in front. And this was a snow day and no customers but me (at first). I'm here - let's try it! Came away very satisfied. 2-piece halibut with fries and coleslaw plus a cup of clam chowder. This place rivals my favorite fish and chips place in Portland. Service was good, nothing special. Plenty of seating and, for the cold weather, they have heaters to keep you warm. A will come back for me.

For me, Ship Out left a lot to be desired. It is a pretty cool little food cart with a lot of seating area on the coast. I got the clam chowder and halibut/prawn combo. The clam chowder is very runny. I prefer a thicker soup. The flavor was decent with a lot of stuff to eat in it. The fish and prawns were not my favorite. The fish batter was very thick but also soggy on the bottom. The batter was also pretty bland. The prawns are nice and big but batter lets them down again. Service was not really a thing here. You order at the counter and they bring it to you.

What a pleasantly surprised! Don't let the outside of the green house fool you. Inside is nature and artworks mixed together with good food. This fish and chips place gives you more than just fish and chips. Great ambience. Food portion is generous. Calamari are large pieces and soft melted in your mouth. Po'boy with scallops are large pieces of scallops. Comes with crispy fries and that is really good too. We also ordered the chowder. It is not your typical chowder. It has giant prawn, chunks of cod and scallops in it. All of those items are equal or better than most big restaurants. Self service. Plenty of parking available. I would definitely go back again!

The fish n chips was not the best as I had better. I travel plenty but the Bow picker is better there in Astoria as the batter is nice n crisp and does not fall off. Plus it is the most reasonable, especially with family. Try the Bow picker !!! read more

We got two halibut sandwiches, prawns and chips (fries), a cheeseburger and fries and a cup of clam chowder. Everyone loved what they got. French fries are super crispy. Fry sauce was awesome. Only comment I'd make is the Cheeseburger was very well done, but that's how I love them. But, if you like it medium I'd just tell them. read more

Having been to the Ship Inn many times, and disappointed that it closed, I was excited to try this place. It's quite popular and I was surprised when it took 45 minutes for my order of halibut and chips to be complete. I dipped my first piece of halibut into the tartar sauce and half the fried batter fell off the fish. What a disappointment.... from there I had to use a fork to apply the tartar sauce for the fish rather than losing the batter each time. The fries were really nothing to write home about. Nothing at all like the steak fries they used to serve at the Ship Inn. Overall I was disappointed and will likely not return the next time I'm in the area. read more

Had a great lunch with my wife and 4 good friends from Washington. We all had the clam chowder and fish and chips. Everything was excellent, even the fries and all the sauces were very good. Astoria is my hometown and for decades we'd take the entire extended family to the Ship Inn when I was home. I'm home this week so a slightly more abbreviated group went to its successor, the Ship Out. I swear, it's better than the Ship Inn! The location is darling, an indoor/outdoor garden lot with gift shop type items for sale amongst the tables. It's fresh air, safe seating and comfortable. The food was exceptional! The prices are quite reasonable ($14-20 for a half meal), the seafood is fresh and tasty, the fries are seasoned and battered, and the coleslaw is fresh and crunchy. My nephew had a bacon/cheese burger and apparently enjoyed it, he basically inhaled it! read more

This place is super 'dorbs. Obviously the seafood is a standout and the fries are that double battered kind done just right, but the seating in the greenhouse is excellent and there are tons of very reasonably priced garden treasures to be had. This "food truck" is basically the kitchen and ordering kiosk. Their indoor and outdoor seating areas are eclectically fantastic. Lots of mismatched furniture and art everywhere, super cool. With that said, the cod fish and chips were the best I've ever had. I'm 57 YO, I've eaten a lot of fish and chips! None of that panko batter crap, just delicate, light, beer batter smooth deliciousness. The cod was so fresh and moist, the fries had that special seasoning coating, perfectly applied and fried, moist in the middle, crispy on the outside. My Gal had the fried oysters and chips, I had a couple of those oysters and was in heaven. I normally enjoy a few fresh shucked oysters, but a good fried oyster is a great alternative. These also were fantastic. The service was quick and spot on. The Owner and staff do a great job. It was a bit of a circuitous route to get from our vacation spot, but we'll be back to try the calamari and maybe the non-seafood items. Terrific!! read more

What a delightful little find! We stopped here after the lunch rush. Someone at a gas station recommended it to us as we pulled into town. I'm glad we listened. This place is worth driving too. It's slightly off of the main drag of town by a couple miles, and it's worth the drive. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked, the portion sizes were worthy of noting, and the French fries were piping hot. The best part is you can sit in their atrium/green house and there is quite a bit to look at while you wait. Very whimsical, a garden delight. Be patient. They cook the food fresh, so if you're in a hurry keep this in mind. read more

Seafood was fresh and delicious. I got the combo platter which included calamari, shrimp, oyster,scallops and fish. Classic fish n chip style batter was great on fish, but a bit heavy for other seafood. Seating inside what appears to be a greenhouse was comfortable with outdoor heaters. I also saw some sandwiches that looked very tasty. I'll try the burgers and sandwiches next visit. read more

Where do I start? The service was great. The food and atmosphere, not so much. We ordered the combo platter of fish, 2 bowls of clam chowder and a half salad and 2 drinks. It came to $63, without tip. The fried fish was so overly greasy. The batter wasn't crisp at all. The Caesar salad was a joke. It was a head of romaine hearts, that hadn't even been washed, topped with 3 greasy fried shrimp with a side of bottled dressing. The clam chowder was disgusting. It was so full of uncooked flour and really gloppy and thick. Hardly any clams and super salty. We threw most of our food out. We were starving, so we ate several bites, but had total regret of that later in the day. Seriously so much heavy oily batter. On the bonus side, if you want to dine in a place that also looks like your crazy aunt is having a garage sale, then you're in luck. A bunch of random stuff for sale in a total nightmare of an inside dining area. So many more places for good fish in the area. This isn't one of them, sadly read more

Best halibut fish and chips I have ever had. My husband doesn't like tarter sauce and he ate all of it, even used it on his chips. The halibut is not dried out and an even coating of batter. I love the coleslaw-thick chunky pieces of cabbage to hold up to the dressing. We visited twice in one week it was so good. The next time we got the burgers and they were so good. My husband got a double because he had no idea how big they were. Thick juicy patties, bigger than any other restaurant has to offer. Even the bun had flavor and texture. This place is worth the trip. read more

Word of mouth pays dividends! This roadside fish house is the real deal . Each order is done just for you and just right. You may have to. Wait but it is certainly worth it!!! Oh, and the help staff is very courteous! That's a rare find in this crazy world! Bon appetite ! read more

We decided to do the Cod and the Halibut fish and chips. While the halibut seemed fresh, the cod was waxy and looked old, and frankly i found it somehow mildly nauseating. I couldn't bring myself to teat it. The batter was crsipy, but lacked seasoning and tasted really flat (cardboard?). Aside from that, the coleslaw seemed pretty old soggy. Gross. Not impressed at all - some of the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Some people may like this kind of food - but i will actively avoid this place the next time in Astoria. I recently visited Ship Out in Astoria, Oregon with my husband. We were looking for a good place to eat lunch before heading out on a fishing trip, and Ship Out had great reviews. We ordered the half order of shrimp and chips and the halibut sandwich. Both dishes were huge and delicious. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the chips were crispy and golden brown and it also came with coleslaw. The halibut sandwich was made with fresh, flaky fish and was served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce. Overall, we had a great experience at Ship Out. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fun, casual, and relaxed. We would definitely recommend Ship Out to anyone visiting Astoria. read more

We were so sad when Ship Inn closed in Astoria so were so excited to see this open. We have eaten there twice and it is even better than Ship Inn!! Light batter. Clam chowder better than Ship Inn. Delicious scallops. We had the shrimp fettuccine and it was delicious. Huge portion and really inexpensive!! I know their hours are short but we plan around that. I hope that they stay open longer as the weather gets better! Go eat there!! Remember that their seating is inside the old nursery building. So far have tried four menu items, the halibut, the calamari, the chowder and the burger. All were excellent but I was especially happy with the calamari which I hadn't had since Ship Inn closed. Love that they have a heated, indoor area to eat. Also very pleased to have such good food in that location. The hours are similar to the food trucks that aren't right downtown. Love the variety too, far more choices than you would expect in a food cart. We will go back. read more

So, so yummy! We've eaten here 4 times already and have always been delighted. The fish and chips are the best I have ever had. Not only is the quality excellent, there is more than enough food for my son and I to split a meal. The service amazing. I was shocked on my 2nd visit that the cashier remembered my name.
