I love Shipley's. Their donuts are yummy. I like the chocolate glazed. Staff are pleasant.

Never get Shipleys donut in Georgetown they taste awful and when your card declines they scream declined, every-time until it works.

We only have donuts or kolaches a couple of times per year. Any Shipley's has always been the best for kolaches and the donuts were always Good as well. Today was a huge fail! We stopped in and picked up: 2 kolaches- flavorless and dense. The yeast bread has drastically changed. No longer fluffy and puffy. 2 blueberry cake donuts- Chewy like bubblegum. I've never had worse. 1 Fritter- (maybe). It looked nothing like a fritter. Thick like a brick. 1 raspberry filled- like It wasn't cooked long enough. Super goopy (Sorry, forgot to get pics before tossing most of it in the trash.) Save your dough and roll on down the road to any other place. read more

Good donuts but got the order wrong - bummed about that. Chocolate glazed cake is one thing versus plain cake donut with chocolate frosting. At least the chocolate frosting was good and donut was not drowning in it. Big plus! These donuts are larger than Round Rock donuts and about the same price. Would have been 4 stars if not for the order being incorrect. read more

I like this Shipley's. The sausage cheese jalapeno kolaches are consistent and the mixed (plain and chocolate) donut holes are a nice option. I would note that some Sunday morning's the drive thru can be a bit slow, but it has been better lately. read more

Brought my oldest granddaughter from CA who is visiting Mrs. Texas and I here for breakfast / lunch. She got a maple and a chocolate donut which she enjoyed very much. She said it's much better than those nasty Round Rock Donuts. Mrs. Texas had a sausage n cheese kolache and a cinnamon twist and I had a couple of sausage, cheese, and jalapeño kolaches. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. Mrs. Texas and I do enjoy Shipley's much better than Round Rock Donuts. However, Super Donuts in Round Rock and Leander are very good as well, but Shipley's are hard to beat. Their ice coffee is most excellent as well. read more

Been a long time Shipley's customer, but this morning my standard order almost doubled in price. I was shocked. Couple that with the fact they no longer give a free dozen glazed when you buy a dozen kolaches, ( made that change a month ago) and I'm done. I was in Georgetown heading to my friend's house. I was actually trying to find another donut shop, but being a bit unfamiliar with G'town & with super dense fog, I caught the Shipley's sign & decided to swing in & grab some donuts for our road trip. Another friend absolutely loves this place, so I thought I really couldn't lose. The service was great. The donuts were ok. The cream filled one was actually kinda yucky. I'm used to the shop by my house & these pale in comparison, but they were ok. I know people love their chains, I prefer the independent places. read more

Great service- not so great product. Came by at 6am, you'd think I'd be getting the freshest and most delicious donuts available. Purchased 4 dozen donuts, 1 chocolate glazed and 3 glazed for an event and the glazed completely lacked flavor, glaze and they were stale. Can't speak to the chocolate glaze, I didn't try it. They didn't have big boxes but the man working was kind enough to pack them in fours to avoid getting chocolate everywhere. They were polite and kind- that's why I gave them 2 stars. read more

We have gone to this location for the last 10+ years. Since it seems that ownership has changed hands a few months ago, they have gone WAY downhill and prices have gone WAY up. Unusually high, even in these new times. The man that seems to be the new owner is friendly, but the last two weekends, they have a VERY small selection of donuts, and the ones they have aren't fully cooked. This weekend, they had all of the chairs up on the tables, and the electronic menus were turned off at 10:30. My husband asked their hours, and somehow they stay open until 1:00... I mentioned that they seem to have no donuts left anymore, and the man helping us said, "Yeah, we sell out fast." We have never had this issue in all the years we've gone, and it makes us sad. read more

Today around 10am was the third time I've tried this Shipley's location. The donuts here are never fresh. At 10am glazed donuts should NOT taste like they were made last night. And yet I'd been to one on Anderson Mill in Austin many times, with great success. Bypass this location--they're skimping on something which keeps the donuts from being fresh. read more

Stopped by while visiting Georgetown. First Shipley i have ever gone to where they give you cold glazed donuts at 8:30 in the morning. Usually at other locations, they melt in your mouth and hand because they are so warm and soft. Ate them because i was hungry and traveling but definitely not up to Shipley standards. Also didn't have the tissue paper thing in there to hold them with. And no napkins. Next time I'll stop at a locally owned donut shop. Looked for shipley because they are usually consistent but unfortunately not this location. read more

Been here several times but gave up yesterday. Nice kids working here but seems like continuous turnover. Good doughnuts but you can find that anywhere. You can wait 5-10 minutes in line for the counter but if someone drives up to the window, they'll get waited on next. Not sure why you can't be served in the order you arrive? read more

UPDATE: so I have been back twice, both equally deserving of 1 star. One of the kids needed donuts for school, so I grabbed and extra 1/2 dozen "blueberry cake" for the rest of the family. They looked like cake, but I couldn't see any evidence of blueberries. I said "are you sure those are blueberry?" The owner assured me they were. They were not, which I discovered after I got home. I went back a few hours later when I had time, and asked for a refund. Instead, I was given $15 in coupons. Yesterday I went back to use some of the coupons. Wash, rinse, repeat. A younger man took my order while standing at the register (not putting anything in a box). When another lady came to put the order in the box, she asked him what I ordered and he kept telling her the wrong items. I corrected him, and she kept asking HIM instead of ME. So frustrating. Part of the order was two blueberry cake donuts. Again, I asked if they were blueberry cake because they didn't look like blueberry. I was assured they were. They were not. Plain cake AGAIN. This place is really terrible. We went there for the last time today. The donuts they sold us were obviously from yesterday. They were stale and disgusting, and the cake donuts were saturated with grease. It all went to the chickens. read more

Wish I checked the reviews before coming here! The donuts were so stale, my toddlers wouldn't even eat them. Sucks because we ordered a dozen & didn't try them before we got home. Also, ordered 2 Boston cream donuts which are supposed to have chocolate on top & they were just glazed but old so it was cracked. Then ordered 2 Maple frosted Boston creams & got the two crackly donuts with some sort of frosting inside. Super gross. Would never come back or recommend. read more

I ordered 4 dozen glazed donuts from the drive through and dropped them at my husbands work. I also ordered myself a single donut. The donuts were cold, and very clearly NOT fresh, at 8:45am. I called the number on the receipt, which happened to be the owners cell phone, who was annoyed I called his cell phone! His wife got on the phone, and told me they were fresh (they were NOT...I'm not the type to pass up a donut, and I did not finish my donut...it was not good). Then SHE asked why I was calling her husband's cell phone, which again, was the number on the receipt! She told me I could come back for more donuts. I declined, as I didn't want more of the same stale donuts. She wouldn't refund any of my purchase unless I brought the donuts back, which I couldn't do since they had already been dropped at my husband's job. I'm annoyed I spent $40 on yesterday's donuts, when normally Shipley Donuts are delish! In addition to this the girl taking my order (face to face, not through an intercom system) seemed to be very confused by my order of 4 dozen donuts plus 1 single donut...asking me repeatedly what I wanted. Update 12/16/12 - Thought I would stop and and give the donuts a fair chance, maybe those would be amazing and I could update this review to add more stars. Instead, I am taking away a star. Arrived at 12:45pm on a Sunday. A man inside sees us coming and locks the door, just turns and walks away. They are supposed to close at 1:00pm. If they were sold out early he could have said so, but instead he was rude and just locked the door right in front of us. So I won't be trying out those donuts after all, ever. You can keep them, and your crummy "kolaches". 11/28/12 Kolach Review Only: Being of Czech heritage, I am imploring Texans to stop calling these hot dogs in a bun kolaches! I sent my husband out for "kolaches" and he came back with pieces of hot dog and lunch meat stuffed into a Pillsbury dough ball. This is not a kolach. Sigh.. you Texans are strange folk. (When asked where the real kolaches were, Shipley said they were all out of the sweet variety, even though it was 7:00am on a weekday.) So putting aside the fact that this is not a kolach, it's hard to write an impartial review but I'll try. It was warm and soft and tasted like it had enough sodium to choke a horse. Not necessarily bad, but just like any pig-in-a-blanket you'd make at home with link sausages and pillsbury dough from a can. Super greasy but I suspect that's a norm with these impostor kolaches. We tried 3 varieties and they were all pretty identical, except the jalepeno version which was pleasantly spicy. They all tasted overwhelmingly like cheap fast food. The McDonalds of kolaches, if you will. Coupled with the total lack of authentic or any kind of sweet kolach at 7am, the cheap, greasy savory kind they did have, and that Shipley's closes at 1pm daily, 2 stars is as good as I can offer and even that's a bit of a reach, IMO. read more

Wow! I usually LOVE Shipley's and have never ever had a bad experience at one of the other locations. But my husband picked up a dozen Donuts this morning around 9:30 and over half of them were so stale and disgusting that I threw them away. That's disappointing, considering that he saw them bring out a new tray of seemingly fresh donuts and asked for those, but the employee refused and served him the stale ones. I arrived here at 6:31 am on Saturday, May 14, 2016, we ordered a dozen glazed donuts, and I sit down with some friends, pop one out, take a bite, look down in the box and see a live crawling roach. Donuts are good, coffee is gross. The owner's wife is extremely rude and overworks her employees and treats them awfully. She also throws out trash full bags of perfectly good donuts at the end of the day. The state of the store is horrendous and I'm very surprised it passed health inspection. Went there about an hour before they close and no one was around. So no wait and the lady helping us was so nice. It was like going to grandmas house for some food.
