I brought a friend here for lunch after he was craving Persian Food. I thought we would give this place a try since I have been to Giovanni's across the street. Apparently, the owners at Shiraz were the old owners at Giovanni's. It is located in a small strip mall and very nice inside. We were seated right away. We were planning on eating a lot and our waitress seemed a little irritated that we were going to share a combination chicken and kebab plate. To appease her, we also ordered some appetizers of Hummus and Babaganoush. Both were very tasty with a different taste profile than the Lebanese or Greek versions. The Koobideh and Chicken Kebab combination plate was delicious. The Rice and Grilled Tomatoes that came with it were very tasty as well. We finished off with some Baklava and Persian Tea. The Baklava tasted like it was made in-house. This place is a little pricier than some other Persian Restaurants but you can tell in their quality. Shiraz is good but expensive. My family always wants to go here when we gather in Plano, and the place can get very busy for dinner. The service is always good and attentive for large parties. I was craving a nice gyro, oh well... not at this place you guys. I was looking for this place called Best Gyro on Alpha Road and I didn't take the right turn I went further and I ended up in the back alley and that's where this place is at. I never seen it heard about it and I was like oh maybe it's a hidden Jim. Everything happens for a reason right so I'm just gonna go here this place also sell gyros, so I'm just going to go with this one. The place is neat. They have both and their TV is playing like a Turkish food channel which is cool. I like that too like I said I just wanted a Gyro and I ordered a side of french fries everything look good until I tried it and they were literally three shaved pieces of meat in that pizza. The meat was like half dry half OK not really tasty. That's tzatziki was not even a Taziki sauce, but some kind of white sauce. It wasn't garlic. It was way more liquidy for some reason neither of the tomato nor the onions had any flavor whatsoever didn't care for the lettuce And the french fries was just from a bag and like also lacking a flavor and oh my gosh, it was just really terrible. I have never had worse food than this. I am after I finished. I went to wash my hands and I asked the guy at the counter who helped me what am I supposed to do with my plates and he showed me where to clean it and empty it and he was on the phone before, and he continued being on his phone. I am never that kind of a person who doesn't leave a tip. I always feel for these guys, especially this place is super heat and I'm sure that it's not that much traffic but even me going to the bathroom washing my hands using the bathroom drying my hands. This person was still on their phone not Helping clients customers to clean the place or like even make any you know effort or he didn't really seem like he loves to be there, but yeah, it was just off putting the energy was weird and I will definitely not return ever and I will not recommend it to anyone. Granted the prices seemed a bit steep but I am so glad my wife and I went inside on a whim without checking Yelp first otherwise we may never have. Hummus, freshly made and excellent. Our pita bread, hot and smelled delicious, esp when eaten with the hummus. The Tabuli was so lemony and you could actually see the bulgur wheat inside, which lesser establishments tend to minimize. Our ground beef and spicy chicken combo were seasoned so perfectly, the texture on them was ethereal, and it tasted freshly kissed off the grill. An absolutely incredible meal. First time to dine at Shiraz. Four of us were there for lunch and all of us enjoyed our meals. Service was attentive and not pushy. The spicy chicken kebab lunch was delicious and I highly recommend it. But it was too much for one person. I easily took half of it home. The option of smaller portions would be better. I wish the waiter would have suggested an option to have half an entrée or that they are very shareable entrées. We were the only customers at lunch as the restaurant was empty for a Thursday. I honestly think that's because their lunch menu is just too expensive. Every entrée was over $27. I guess you could've just ordered a salad or an appetizer but it seems like the entrées should've catered to a lunch crowd. The portions were easily shareable and if I had a recommendation, it would be to serve half size portions and half the price at lunch at least. I definitely will come back as the food was so good. This is our new go to spot for Persian since coming to Texas. Beautiful restaurant with lovely people and someone very skilled in the back. This is the Persian food I remember in LA and San Francisco and even my own mom's cooking. Top notch. Great house doogh, kashke bademjon is great so is the citrusy jujeh kabob but what sealed the deal here was the Koobideh. Juicy Koobideh w perfect char and saffron rice that is out of this world. Good food but extremely overpriced. I've been coming here for years with my family and remember when a dinner plate was $18.99 and now we're at $30 or so per plate, it's crazy! Totally understandable that prices have increased but this is too much, not worth it. We used to dine here at least twice a month, have had family parties here with parties of 10-20+ but can no longer do that due to prices. I've dined in and ordered takeout multiple times. My favorite kabob is the ground beef because it's the most flavorful (imo), the spicy chicken comes in second (not spicy at all). The one time I ordered the filet kabob, it was dry, so I stick with the ground beef from now on. I had the hummus appetizer but it wasn't anything special. I've had a few other apps but nothing memorable enough for me to order again. I usually order takeout and have them package it family style rather than the individual dishes. The rice is absolutely delicious! I wish they'd throw in more tomatoes and naan. We were so excited to try this place out and decided on lunch today. The staff were kind and welcoming which is the only reason for the 2 stars. Although their presentation is nice, the food was unfortunately was extremely disappointing. Probably some of the worst we've had. The meats were overcooked and the rice had no flavor. All four entrees were the same so when you're considering the extremely steep prices versus the quality and flavor, it's a loss for us. Shockingly, the grilled veggies were the tastiest item we had. Let me make it clear that I don't at all mind paying for pricey entrees when they're worth it and this was most definitely not! $49 for the driest Barg and Koobideh Soltani?? Really? The owners/management should pay closer attention to how the chefs are preparing the dishes that customers are paying so much more. Some days it's pretty good, but tonight, I specifically asked as usual for my chicken not to be overcooked and even added NO BURN OR CHAR PLSE. And I got pieces that are super burnt. Not cool. The only reason I'm even giving 3 stars is because sometimes it IS cooked correctly while other times it's super burnt and overcooked like tonight. It's a gamble. When it's cooked correctly it's very good, but there's no consistency and depends if the guy who couldn't care less what you request is in the kitchen cooking. Also love the barberry rice. But after this I likely won't order again in a while, once again. If you're in the mood to waste your money on grossly overpriced food, subpar service, and small portions, then by all means, visit this place. For nearly $30 a plate, you'd think they'd at least have the decency to serve a full portion of rice. The prices here are simply outrageous--even the best Persian restaurants in LA don't charge as much as Shiraz does. Maybe if the prices weren't so high, it wouldn't look like a ghost town inside. The restaurant was almost completely empty, which should've been our first red flag. To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. Our waitress was unfriendly and seemed annoyed by our mere presence, making the entire dining experience uncomfortable. She was dismissive, inattentive, and treated us like a burden for simply being there. As if that wasn't enough, when we made reasonable requests, we could overhear the owners / managers making sly, rude remarks about us. It was clear that they don't care about their customers and are more interested in mocking them behind their backs. In summary, this restaurant is a complete waste of time and money. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that actually values its customers. I recommend Giovanni's Mediterranean Grill which is right across the street. Went for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. The restaurant offers a very good spread of Iranian food. We ordered their Sabzi Panir Platter and Hummus as appetizers and Ground Chicken Kabob and Lamb Kabob for the main course. The Sabzi Panir Platter had a good selection of fresh herbs and Feta Cheese. The Hummus was presented well as 4 scoops with a generous drizzle of olive oil and chopped olives. The Kabobs were tender and had very good flavors. Okay I will say this place is kinda expensive. BUT the food is so good it's kinda worth in a way. The meat is super tender and juicy. I got the spicy chicken dish and my boyfriend got the mixed platter of some sort with like beef and chicken kebabs. The beef one was surprising sooo tasty and I would highly recommend. I was apprehensive at first but it was so good. The chicken is good too! Very big and big portions. BTW charged extra if you want to split an entrée and extra charged if you want to substitute items. Our first time to this restaurant and we were greeted by the manager and the hostess who took us to our table . There, the alert waitress gave us the menu and noticed that I was not comfortable as the center table in the booth was too far from the seats . She immediately moved the seat to my liking and made sure we were comfortably seated . The appetizer " tah dig " was very tasty with two stews generously poured on top . Overall the ambiance and Food were great .However, Mary ( Mehry) the waitress who was a PHD student putting herself through school is the reason I was prompted to write this review . I ordered ground chicken kabob , but it was not prepared as I had previously experienced in high end Persian restaurants . Mary took notice that I was sharing my husband's food and want eating my own fish . She asked if she could offer to bring a skewer of beef koobideh at N/C ! I told her that was not necessary , and that it is mainly my taste for good , others may like the flavor . But she said we want you to enjoy your food . I am Persian and last year I moved from California to Fort Worth. I have family here and they recommended three Persian restaurants to me, which I have visited: Shiraz, Sahara and Shahrzad. I tried Shiraz first. I was told this was the "fancy" one of the three restaurants. I've been to many fancy Persian restaurants and in terms of decor-- this place is just average. But it was clean and the service was prompt. No complaints on either of those fronts but the service wasn't great either, it was kind of obsequious and insincere, to be honest. Now the food. Food was good. Was it amazing? No. I asked for the kabob koobideh to be juicy and medium and it was still a little overcooked and over-charred. But overall, we got the koobideh and barg and the chicken, and they were all solid. So why three stars? Well, I am a foodie and I spend money on food. That said, when I go to a place I expect a decent value. I've been to some amazing Persian restaurants in some very high rent locations. I have NEVER been charged $39 for soltani and NEVER EVER EVER paid $23 dollars for koobideh! And it's not like the kabob was amazing. It wasn't. It was just good. Even Raffi's in Glendale: https://www.raffisplace.com/#eluid301682de charges $31 for soltani and $20 for koobideh. And that's in the heart of expensive LA and considered one of the very best Persian restaurants in Tehran-geles. The prices are so high I had to take a full star off their rating of 4 stars for it. This place is the opposite of a good value. Go to Sahara and enjoy Koobideh that is BETTER than Shiraz's for $15 a plate! And the kabobs are bigger too (although that's not why I recommend them, the taste and quality is better). read more

The chicken kabob, chicken koobideh, and beef kabob were all delicious. Their meat was cooked perfectly and was not dry at all. The deserts and chai were amazing too.
