Very disappointed in their service. We reserved a private room for a birthday party for 20+ people. However we were not allowed to bring or serve a birthday cake. Why? I hadn't been to this restaurant in a few years, but remembered it being an excellent place for traditional sushi and tempura. Not any more. We ordered a selection of sushi nigiri, and when it arrived, it was served with lemon slices separating each piece saturating them with lemon juice. The Rice wasn't seasoned or properly shaped. There was no wasabi on anything. While the fish portions were generous, it clearly wasn't fresh. Should have turned around and left when we saw the place empty, but it was a Tuesday night so we didn't think much of it. Much better sushi can be purchased at Super Saver. read more

Ive had a lot of mahi mahi and ive never seen the bone still attached to it. They do a great job at entertaining their guests. Fire shows; to the average food tossing. Next time I go there I will order something different and probably update this.. read more

We made a reservation for 6pm on Saturday, walked in and they had us down for 7pm. Didn't think it was a big deal they made a mistake, whatever. We did have 7 in our party but our friends and their son couldn't make it because they had to take their dog to the vet for a emergency so it was me my wife and our 2 kids and we went for my daughter's 8th birthday because it is her favorite restaurant. We where seated about 15 minutes later, never had a waiter or waitress, given menu's by the host or owner and instantly asked for our order before even picking up the menu. Again not a big deal we've been coming here for years for our daughter's bday so didn't think much of it. Then I realized they just rushed us in and tried to get us done as fast as possible. The Chef was extremely nice but did none of the things my kids love, never did the onion volcano, train, or anything that makes the kids laugh. And didn't do the flip shrimp to catch in your mouth. Was extremely rushed. The food was excellent but missing all the fun things. My daughter saw at the table next to us they where doing all the fun things and flipping shrimp and she almost left in tears until I finally went and found someone and told them it was her birthday and requested they give her the birthday song and pineapple boat. The kid that brought it and did the song was awesome!! Ive been coming here a few times a year at least since they where located at 56th st and never had a bad experience. Im assuming the reservation time mistake caused this. If it was just a regular dinner I wouldn't really care but since it was for my daughter'a birthday I had to post this. We went here for my daughters birthday after church. She wanted to go the 'the place where they cook the food in front of you'. When we arrived around noon, the place was deserted. Should have been the first sign. They took our order (Teriyaki Steak and Fried Rice all around), we told the host it was a birthday lunch, and the 'chef' came out to cook. And that just what he did. Period. No fanfare, no tricks, no show. Well he made an onion volcano..... But other than that he just threw some oil on the grill and cooked our food, which was not good. The steak tasted like venison, the veggies were hard and the rice was slimy with oil. He cleaned up and left. Then they brought out a birthday fruit boat and sang happy birthday. And added a $5 charge to the ticket. Overall this was the worst Hibachi Strekhouse experience I've ever had. It was mediocre the last time I went here and they've only gotten worse. I asked the host why there was no show. He said they only have one chef at lunch so there is no time. The prices certainly didn't reflect it though. Go to Omaha, it's worth it. read more

Extremely disappointed. My sister, boyfriend and I went here for our first time one night and shared the hibachi grill with a family, which was fine! My boyfriend ordered the hibachi steak with fried rice. My sister and I decided to share the steak and shrimp with the fried rice and just pay the extra 4$ for her to get the soup and salad. Our "chef" came over and started preparing the fried rice and vegetables. He started dishing some out to everyone. He was giving mounds of rice to the family sitting with us then he came to my sister, my boyfriend and I and we barely got any, maybe a little less than 1/2 a cup of rice each! Then the same thing happened with the vegetables. I didn't receive any broccoli or mushrooms because he barely gave us any. He then started preparing our steak(which was maybe 3oz) and for the price we were paying we were definitely expecting something much much bigger and our shrimp. He finished our steak and we both got about 6 cubes of steak each. Then he started giving our shrimp out to each person at the table. He gave three pieces of shrimp to the guy sitting next to my sister even tho he never ordered any. My sister and I then got 4 pieces of shrimp each. The fried rice was was not cooked well at ALL, and the "yum yum" sauce was watered down and disgusting. My sister loves sushi so she got some and when she tried it she was like this is the worst sushi I have ever had. She picked out the salmon out of all of them and left the rest on the plate. She also ordered monkey balls, tried one and she couldn't eat the rest. My sister eats anything and she wouldn't eat this! So I finished all my food on my plate and obviously I was still hungry so I started to munch off of my boyfriends plate(he had a couple chunks of steak and rice and veggies left) since he was trying to figure out why our bill was so expensive for our little tiny "meal". I turned to talk to my sister and the lady TOOK HIS PLATE EVEN THO IT STILL HAD FOOD ON IT! She never asked if he was done or wanted a box for it or anything. You can imagine my disappointment by this point. They charged each of us $4 extra to get the fried rice instead of steamed even though it didn't mention that on the menu! So I am still hungry and upset that they took 1/2 of his $25 steak away without asking! Our bill was $72 but we had a $50 gift certificate and I'm seriously convinced that the person who gave us that gift certificate hated us. I was so hungry after we left that I had to go over to Freddy's to get a real meal! Oh and we were actually planning on going for lunch the week prior but they weren't open even though there website said that they were. Hungry, broke and more than disappointed. read more

This place use to be very nice and great place to eat at... we went there last night for my daughters birthday, I can say this, we will never go back again. It was not that busy but was told after they took our drink orders that they only had 2 cooks on staff and we would be the 3rd table in line for a cook. The place was freezing, everyone was cold as we waited for our turn. There were 5 people that ordered Hibachi steak meals, when the cook brought out the food there were 5 bowls of steak, one for each meal that was ordered, When he cooked the steak he only put out 4 bowls of steak and put the other bowl back underneath his cart, So 5 people had to split 4 dinners but we had to pay for 5 of them. I guess the high cost of their food isn't enough so they have to rip people off by shorting them food. We ordered the Shogun Night... Pineapple boat, people are suppose to come out and sing happy birthday with instruments and take a picture. We get one waiter singing a terrible version of happy birthday and the picture he took was terrible, Mind you, you have to pay for this... Total bill was $125.47 - mind you we were shorted a meal so thats a pretty expensive tab... then before we could even get out of their, a lady was over at the table getting the bill and opening it up to see what the tip was... wow very unprofessional. First off let me say I am a waitress and am a very generous tipper. My friends and I had lunch at shogun and I of course left a tip on my meal. I also got a carry out order for my sister. I did not tip on the carry out Order as most people don't and like I said I left a very generous tip on my own meal. My carry out order came to $18 some dollars. I looked in my bank account a week later and realized someone had put in an $8 tip on an $18 carry out. I called and asked for the owner and the lady on the phone said he was busy and what it was regarding. I told her and she said she would have him get back to me immediately. Three days goes by and no call back so I called again. As soon as the owner gets on the phone he knew what it was regarding. I was very pleasant not rude at all I just wanted an apology and a refund for the $8 since what they did is illegal. The owner said and I quote " I will not look into your ticket nor will i look into this matter over a couple dollars that's ridiculous. What they did was illegal and all I wanted was an apology and they would look into it as most owners would. I have now disputed the whole charge with my CC company and have gotten the money back and am reporting them to the BB. What kind of horrible person do you have to be to not care at all and say that. He was the one cooking the carry out order and believe it was him that wrote in the tip. No stars if I could. Beware read more
