Is it possible to give a -* because this place and the Maniac named Alex who runs its is beyond repair. I made a Yelp account so I could help people avoid this place at all costs. My daughter and I use to frequent this restaurant because our nail salon is a few doors down and I am a person who fully supports local business but NOT this place anymore! Mind you he was always short of temper and grumpy in appearance however I personally thought the food was ok and he never displayed any of those things in front of me. So, I went to meet my daughter at the nail salon and I parked in front of Shogun since it was around dinner time and I thought we could go have some dinner there after. Within a minute after I parked "Alex" came out of the restaurant as I was walking by and yelled that I could not park there. That is was for the "restaurant customers only and he was going to have my vehicle towed within 30 minutes". Flabbergasted, by how he just approached me. I calmly turned back around and proceeded to the nail salon, paid for my daughters nails and made sure I told everyone in the salon what that jerk just said to me. Then I felt compelled to go back and explain to him that I had every intention of dining there until he displayed his horrible behavior. So I went back in and his wife approached me and asked if she could help me. I politely said no I need to speak with Alex. I said to him "I am a frequent client and I want you to know I had every intention of dining at your establishment but you were so rude I will never come here again". He stated " it doesn't matter, everyone park there!" He began waving his hands saying I don't care doesn't matter and approached me yelling. I told he he needed to back up and get out of my space. I honestly though he was going to put his hands on me. He told me to leave and I said gladly and I will tell everyone to never come here again. I can not believe this horrible man is still in business. He is a disturbed individual and appears to be a violent man. If i could give this place a zero i would. This place is horrible. First of all, they dont give you a lemon in your water unless you ask. Theyre that shady. Also i found out that they reuse the ice in your drinks so before you take a sip of water, think about where that ice was before it reached your cup. The owner really is a complete jerk. He charged my group graditude even though one of the people in my group was an infant. When i asked him what the extra fee was for, he said "you bring big group. More peepo mean more work on me. I work hard for you and now you dont want to pay me?" What an asshole. Then he walked off mumbling something in chinese. Next off, it seems as if the prices for everything here keeps going up. The price for a drink is ridiculous and we dont even get refills. The sushi rolls seem to have shrunk from about 3 years ago. Finally, i believe the owner is a racist. His name was alex i believe. One of the people in my group was african american. He gave my friend dirty looks and his food was last to arrive. When my friend went to use the restroom, the owner followed him as if to check if he was stealing someting. As if anyone would want to steal from a shady restaurant. I' M NEVER GOING TO SHOGUNS AGAIN! I have been to Shoguns a few times now. The only reason i go is because they are opend on Sunday's and the food is decent, but not worth the price. First of all the service is not too good the waiters are always running around, and while i was there the tall asian man was yelling at his workers. The tall asian man was very rude to me I did not feel i was treated equally like the table next to me. The workers told me not to tip them because they do not recieve much of the tip money. The last time i was there the tall asian guy was throwing a fit and began to throw stuff around and yelling at the workers. Everytime I'm there, theres a different waiter, and its probably due to conflict with the owner. The workers are very unprofessional and immature. They play rock paper scissors and even stab each other with straws, which is unacceptable. I would not recomend going there. So this review is for service provided by Alex Cheung who is clearly islamaphobic or a straight up racist who called the cops on a young Muslim lady for basically having the nerve to eat here. I as well as other patrons had noticed that she had even tipped this waiter even though he had refused to get her a drink while being able to do so for the rest of her party. This is clearly not the place to dine if the type of service provided results in the cops being called for asking for decent service and general respect. It was hard for me and everyone else to witness. It ruined my lunch to see this and I sure everyone else who was dining there felt the same. As far as sushi goes..this place is not really that bad or awful. I would say decent. My niece and I come here when other sushi restaurants are packed ( i know..second option ^___^) ... but overall, the service was not too bad. They bought our drinks and food out fast. The sushi rolls are okay. We liked the In and Out roll, Godzilla Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll ( I get that one EVERYWHERE I GO). This is my favorite neighborhood Japanese Restaurant here in Stockton as well as the rest of my family. I have been a regular here for the last 5 years. The owners are very attentive and courteous as well as the servers. I enjoy the Bento Boxes, Sashimi Salad and the fresh Sushi. Most often The owners offer us free Japanese ice cream or an appetizer. Good variety on the fresh food selection, fair pricing, uncrowded quiet atmosphere and great service what else can you ask for in a restaurant. read more

We had a horrible experience the last time we ate at this restaurant in 2017 and never wanted to come back. My parents insisted we go because it's under new ownership. I'm glad we gave it a shot because the new owner has done a lot to improve this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was great; the staff were very polite and attentive. This place is always delicious and their waiters are always friendly and fast. I love their food here. The lion king roll is delicious as well as the nova scotia. The volcano roll is also very good. This is my favorite place to eat sushi in stockton. It's a little pricey but I'll take that any day. read more
