Haven't been here in a few years and decided to get the breakfast buffet and it was a bad decision. $13+ for a buffet of cold overcooked basic food is crazy. Service was good despite the servers openly complaining about their boss and schedule. Eggs were cold and tasteless, sausage was burnt and dry, French toast was cold and stale, potatoes were cold and flavorless and the biscuit was dry even with cold gravy. Lesson learned won't be back. Maria, our waitress, went above and beyond--welcoming us with genuine warmth, anticipating our needs, and treating us like longtime regulars. Amanda came out during the breakfast-to-lunch buffet transition and thoughtfully evaluated which items were working and which ones needed improvement--not just for that day, but with a clear long-term mindset. She discussed rotating certain dishes through future ordering to better reflect what the local community enjoys. Her attention to quality, guest satisfaction, and overall improvement is something most guests would miss--but we happened to witness it firsthand. That kind of care and initiative is rare in chain restaurants like this. Amanda should absolutely be in management--or at the very least, strongly considered for a raise based on the dedication she displays. Just before leaving, we noticed a special wall dedicated to supporting the military. It honored Mr. Dennon, an Army Veteran and long-time loyal customer who had recently passed. His usual table was surrounded by military memorabilia, creating a heartfelt tribute that says so much about the kind of community Shoney's serves--and how they serve it. I tend to leave very high or very low reviews--because excellence deserves to be celebrated and avoidable issues need to be called out so improvements can happen. Where do I start? The items we got off the buffet was cold. My wife had scrambled eggs, sausage links, grits and potatoes. None of that was warm. I had scrambled eggs, bologna and rice. None of this was warm either. I had to settle with a salad for breakfast. The cook manager came out and said he checked the food and it was warm enough. Typical Shoney's salad quality the burger sliders were good and the hot dogs and ribs looked good the mashed potatoes and green beans and other fixings were the same stuff you get at every salad bar probably the same vendor. Idk if you know what a Big Boy is but these 2 restaurants are the same lol. This is the cheaper version lol. Was very disappointed. If you like seafood you might like the salad bar. A friend never had issues there ever. The last time I was ever at a Shoney's It was with my now deceased brother, so many years. We decided to go there. One spot of the building has rocks for ambiance and sprinkles of cigarette butts and litter. The parking lot had trash strewn about. The bathroom door - don't pull open, it's a push. Scared a lady. Scared me. Drinks were served. The cokes tasted like acid seltzer with a hint of coke flavoring, the tea was sour. I tried to get a hold of our waitress, she was young. There were other younger workers behind the counter. I felt ignored. One Young man looked in my direction but no acknowledgement I existed at all. Maybe my spirit was visiting and he didn't have the clairvoyance to see me. I'll assume that's what that was. I took all 3 drinks up to the counter myself. Again, I was invisible. I need to learn to use this power I possess. The two young men at the counter looked right at me placing these 3 full drinks on the counter and no one asked why. I even said hello with no hello back. I was being ghosted for no reason. I walked back to my booth with my family and sat down. The young waitress came over gave my child their vanilla milkshake and walked away. No smile. No "enjoy", just plop! My child took one drink of the milkshake and looked at me as if they had just drunk Pepto Bismal. I picked up the glass and just looking at the consistency I could tell it was wrong. I took a sip and the face that just appeared on my child made sense. It was like milk mixed with water and some whipped cream popped on top. The whipped cream was warm. It was like milk puked in the glass and had a friend make them look pretty. It was gross. They took it off our bill. They cleaned the iced tea and made it fresh and it tasted better. As a restaurant though, don't we check that for being old? I know when I worked at a fast food restaurant stickers were placed on items showing expiration dates. I mean....do you want to drink that? Don't serve it to your customers. The food came out. They served over our heads. They couldn't balance the plate. I guess they were new, learning, I understand. The benefit of the doubt. No refills. No acknowledgement. The young man who was at the counter looked up when a family member signaled him. I got a refill. Then, the check. She didn't ask how we would like to pay or to split up the check. She brought over one check and when we said we wanted to split it, looked frustrated and walked away. Then returned. Wrong people on each check. The check was about the same for both, we didn't argue. I go to pay. I saw the receipt she gave me. It was $30 and change. I put my card in. Nothing on the screen. Then, when I go to put in my pin I notice I'm being charged $36! I asked her why it was $6 more. She proceeds to tell me it was added to the tip. Say what? First of all, I was going to tip something. I had cash. Second of all, I should've had a choice. I didn't choose 20% but, okay! She said it was automatic. It's not, you added your tip and that's pretty sketchy. She apologized and then handed the device to my family member who saw an option for tip amount on their screen because they took this advice from her when I got scammed. I'm not thrilled. They showed me. There is an option, it's automatic and she lied. She scammed. She was untruthful. I spoke to the manager who apologized and told me she was a couple of weeks new. She should know how to use the device by now, right? So how many other people has she done this to unknowingly? The manager states she will retrain the employee. I told her she needed to be careful. When we walked into this store, several of the workers literally rolled their eyes at our party. i guess they forgot their job was to sell food to the public. We had a party of 16 and know it can be intimidating but all but one ordered the Buffett. The older lady doing the buffet startied cussing to another worker saying here comes those FUC#ing kids again and saying things like they better get charged for both the breakfast and dinner buffet as they were changing over. Our waitress was rude at first but eventually warmed up. The manager apologized and offered a 10% discount but the older lady should have been apologizing. She should have been sent home cussing around small children. I did approach the lady and said to her she should be more respectful to people and the way she acted was unnecessary. We were traveling and went here for dinner on Christmas Day. Very few places were open. They had a Buffett & a holiday menu. While we were waiting (the wait was "not too awful"-per the employee at the counter), 2 groups leaving warned us that there was little food on the Buffett table. We ordered off the holiday menu. My wife ordered the cheeseburger & fries. I ordered the shrimp & fries and my gluten free daughter ordered the Burger without a bun. The cheeseburger was pretty good. My shrimp was way over fried as were the fries. My gf daughter's meal was on a bun and had to be returned. Her second entree was pretty good -both the burger and the fries. The best I can say about the meal is the no one got sick! The waitress was very attentive and gave second drinks without us asking. She told us not to tip her because she screwed up the gf order, but since she was so nice, we tipped her anyway. read more

Never took away the grease silverware away. Meals were delivered. My meal came an noticed MOLD on my burger bun. Got the attention of someone cause our waitress was no were to be found. I was in town for a wedding and hadn't had Shoney's since the early 2000's when I was stationed at Little Rock AFB in Arkansas. Stopped in for the breakfast bar. The food was good the breakfast bar was clean and well stocked. Our server, Brooke, was nice and friendly. My issue/question is why do white servers always ask black patrons if we would like hot sauce. I waited and watched to see if she asked the white customers who came in after us. She did not. Educate yourself, all black people don't eat hot sauce. That's a myth. Also, look at my plate do you honestly think I want hot sauce on my French toast? She is acting on a stereotype. We tipped her $15 on our $33 bill. Another myth, black people do tip. She was surprised when we gave her the tip. 2019 and so much remains the same. I'm not sure she meant any harm it's probably just what they do or how she was trained but I was insulted and hope this review inspires change. read more

I eat breakfast here about once a month with my family and I'm ALWAYS impressed with the breakfast buffet. For under $10 the quality and the amount of food is well worth it. The only complaint that I have is the ladies restroom. The smell in their is always atrocious. It smells like mold and raw sewage. It's very clean so I'm not sure where the smell comes from. Then we get our order and the bacon is cold and the pancakes are not cooked through!! Now tell me, how hard is it to make a pancake ? When our nice ( that was the best thing in there) waitress came and asked if everything was ok we told her no, she offered to give us the Buffet but we kindly said no.
