I'd score it maybe 2.5. Half the food was good. The other half was meh. But I knocked down half a star because I was annoyed that they charged me extra when it's not written anywhere and the response when I asked them about it. So I got a #4 (shrimp and chicken mix plate with spam brûlée) with a mango green tea lemonade. The shrimp was really good with a nice crunch and slight spiciness. The spam brûlée was also pretty good. The Mac salad was mushy. The katsu was soggy. The rice was fine. So I ordered the food and he gave me the drink. I'm drinking it while I'm waiting. It's a little too sweet so I water it down a bit. I look at my emailed receipt and realize it's an extra $2. I ask the cashier and he's like ohhh yeah that drink is an extra $2. I'm like it doesn't say it anywhere on the menu. The menu actually has pictures of that drink with the combos. And he said "whoops that was my fault. I should have told you." I'm like yeah I wouldn't have gotten this one. I'm thinking a regular drink is any non alcoholic regular sized drink. He shrugs his shoulders and walks away. No where does it say fountain drink or anything distinguishing of an extra $2. It's only $2 but it's the principle of it. He didn't seem to care that much or maybe that's the norm and people don't realize it's extra? He takes the next order then goes to the back and doesn't come back out (I can see thru the glass). Another guy comes out to give me the order. I'm annoyed with how it was handled by the guy. Hopefully the guy informs other customers and it was an honest mistake to tell me. I don't know. Hands down one of the best chicken katsu and fried shrimp that i've tried. the flavors are amazing and the chicken is so tender it just melts in your mouth. the spam musubi is amazing as well with the extra sauce to dip it in. the sandwiches are also insanely good especially with the mac salad being on it. I was at Rodeo 39 and happened to come across Shootz. I ordered the Kimchi Butter Chicken Katsu Sandwich and the Spam Brûlée Musubi. Starting with the Kimchi Butter Chicken Sandwich, it was disappointing to me. I was really looking forward to it because it sounded amazing, but instead it was too oily from the butter and I couldn't really taste the kimchi anyways. The sandwich was lacking in the flavor they were promising. I liked the spam brûlée musubi more. It's pretty hard to mess up spam musubi, and the sweet sauce with the torched sugar on top was a really cool addition. Other than the food, the staff was friendly and the food came out within 10 minutes. They weren't too busy at the time I went so it was quick service. They have seating inside and out. Parking is tough to get at Rodeo 39, so I'd say be patient while looking. read more

Parking Sucks but, it's located in a huge food plaza & a gym you either workout first or after you eat & the great thing about all that is you have to in "knowing" what your gonna eat OR your gonna walk around wasting your $ on buying a little bit of everything, unless your there specifically trying anything & everything. It's located inside Rodeo 39 so don't look for a sign, just park & go inside. The cashier is friendly & helpful w/questions we had about the menu. They have inside & outside dining area, you can basically sit anywhere you want w/in the vicinity unless your consuming alcohol. Been wanting to try this joint since they opened and was finally in the area, so I decided to stop on by for dinner mid week. The employee was nice and she took the time to explain the differences the plates and wavy bundles (the bundles come with a drink). The Kimchi butter katsu and shrimp needed more flavor to me. It was the main part of the plate and it needed to shine, but it did not, The Mac salad was disappointing, it was completely bland. For the price point, I wanted the food to be much more flavorful. The area is really busy, there's an In N Out in the same plaza and a Canes on the other side. Parking was very challenging for a weeknight. It took me about 10 minutes of circling around in the far parts of the lot to find a spot. Inside Rodeo 39 was some sort of game night. I expected a larger menu, but the kimchi butter Katsu is great so I'm glad it's featured. Two of us shared the #1 Wavy Bundle for $18.49 which includes kimchi butter Katsu (we got spicy) with rice and Mac salad, 2 pieces of bruleed spam musubi, and a fountain drink. The combo helps you save about $1-2 vs the separate items. The spicy kimchi butter Katsu had a delicious, spicy sauce. It isn't overwhelmingly spicy but has a kick. The flavor wasn't distinctly kimchi, however, so having kimchi on the side would be awesome! The Mac salad is a bit tuna-y for my taste, but it was still good. The addition of sesame seeds/furikake on the rice and chicken was appreciated. The bruleed spam musubi was tasty but nothing special. I wish the mayo was throughout. I liked that there was plenty of Shootz-only seating, both inside and on a private section of the patio, so you can definitely get a seat if the public market is busy. I also enjoyed that I was texted when my order was ready because I didn't hear them call my name.
