Came From a TikTok! Saw a tiktok and this looked delicious, found the nearest location and actually had it delivered via UberEats. Ordered the following: * Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken * 2 pc Spam Brulee Musubi The chicken was DELICIOUS and moist! With a little crunch from the outside. So good. The rice was yummy, but I'm an easy fan of rice. The macaroni salad was good. The Spam Brulee Musubi was very good as well. Overall, I enjoyed it for sure! Not sure if I'd go out of my way to get though.
A year later and i wanted the same thing as i got last time: katsu plate and spam musubi. And once again, so good! I'm happy to see that quality has not gone down. Service and food was fast. Ambiance is in a food court at rodeo 39. Happy that this place has stayed despite the frequent rotations of other establishments in this food hall!
Located inside the Rodeo 39 Public Market. I came here strictly to grab some beignets. Already had lunch and the ube beignets were the perfect dessert. Not too dense, crisp outside and nice fluffy inside with good ube flavor. Must order these through the app but service was quick. I was lucky enough to score a kimchi butter katsu sando at the Shootzgiving event today! I've only heard great things about this place so I was very much looking forward to it. The staff were well prepared for the event and very friendly while we waited in line. The sando was an explosion of flavor and textures in my mouth, the katsu was so moist and tasty, warm inside and crispy outside. The mac salad was creamy and delicious. I could've eaten 10 of them easily, it was absolutely amazing! Mahalo Shootz for this incredible event giving back to the community. Bravo!
I've been here countless times. We love the kimchi butter chicken katsu! It's delicious but there have been times where the chicken katsu has been inconsistent for example it maybe be super crispy and seasoned well but the next time would be soggy and drenched in kimchi butter or it could be barely breaded and sloppily prepared. This time we bit into a piece that had something chewy. We pulled it halfway out our mouths and half of it was sticking out the chicken. We pulled the rest out the chicken and couldn't believe what we're were looking at. Skeptical at first and we were too embarrassed to say anything. Just completely ruined our appetite.
Finally got to try shootz at rodeo 39 on a Monday around noon time. I got the spicy chicken katsu sandwich and 2pc of spam brûlée musubi. The spicy chicken katsu sandwich was delicious. The chicken was juicy, tender, tasty sauce and soft bun. The mac salad in the sandwich definitely enhanced the sandwich. The spam brûlée musubi had a unique but delicious flavor and crunch to it. I definitely would come!!
Tried Shootz today and ordered the Spicy Chicken Sando and the ube beignets. First off, the experience itself was really pleasant. The restaurant was clean, pickup was easy, and the staff was very friendly. I walked in, saw the pickup bags already lined up at the counter, gave them my name, and was greeted warmly with a smile. They handed me my food quickly and told me to enjoy. Overall, it was a very smooth and welcoming experience. Now for the food. The chicken sando was honestly delicious. Super flavorful, juicy, and just a really well-balanced sandwich overall. The kimchi butter sauce added a lot of flavor without overpowering it. I will say mine was not very hot temperature-wise, and the chicken was not as crispy as I expected, possibly because of the sauce. The bun also seemed more like a fresh Hawaiian roll straight from the pack rather than toasted or warmed. Even with that, the sandwich itself was still really good. Also, for anyone wondering, the "spicy" level was extremely mild to me. Flavorful, yes. Spicy, not really. I didn't even need a drink with it. Still, I would absolutely recommend the sandwich and order it again. The ube beignets were a little disappointing for me. The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy, and the powdered sugar was nice. But the ube filling was very mild to the point where I could barely taste the ube flavor at all. The texture of the filling also was not my favorite. They were not bad, but I personally would not order them again. Overall, the sandwich alone made me want to come back. I definitely plan on trying more items from their menu.
I came here to meet my friend on a Thursday night - it was my first time trying this place and I was pretty excited to check it out. The katsu was actually very, very good - I've never had a kimchi butter dish before so I was pretty impressed by how tasty it was. I found the musubi to be a little too heavy with all the mayo unfortunately. For first-timers, definitely recommend just getting the katsu! Overall, great casual dining experience. The workers are very personable and helpful as well, so shoutout to them!
Had this spot saved for a month, so I finally decided to come by and try out a plate lunch. Shootz is located in the back of the Rodeo 39 Public Market, towards outdoor seating. Staff was nice and the tables were clean. I got the kimchi butter spicy chicken katsu. Honestly, I have the worst palate when it comes to handling spicy foods so I'd probably opt for a regular order next time. The overall taste of the chicken katsu was really good. Super flavorful and tender! The plate lunch comes with the chicken on top of rice with a scoop of mac salad. The rice was cooked well but was drenched in sauce. If that's your thing, you'd definitely enjoy it. I always love mac salad, so I was happy with theirs. If you are wanting a nice hearty meal, Shootz should be the next spot you try out.
It's been a long time since I visited shootz but the kimchi butter sandwich is still as good as I remember! The Mac salad did taste different than I remember but it was also still great! I'm not too big of a fan of the musubi, but overall good spot to check out for a meal if you're in Rodeo39.

Where do I start? Their menu covers the classic Hawaiian foods but with a fun fusion twist. I would say all these items are the definition of comfort food and can even take you back to the island if you close your eyes and imagine the peaceful, serene beach while you enjoy this good food. Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken Sandwich: I'm a huge fan of chicken sandos so I was ecstatic about this one. The buttery flavor definitely comes through in the crispy chicken but the spicy definitely did not which I was sad about. The mac salad is a great topping though with hot and cold combo. Jalapeño Garlic Shrimp Plate: I really wanted the loco moco plate but this one seemed more popular so I went with it. The seasoning on these shrimps were crazy. It was generously coated and again, the mac salad was insanely good! Short Ribs Plate: How could you see this on the menu and not order it? Is it pricey, yes. Is it worth it though, also yes. These were tender, meaty pieces of short ribs sitting on a bed of rice. Spam Brulee Musubi: The better of the two musubis. It was so saucy and the sweet sauce paired nicely with the salty slice of spam inside. Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi: This one had a lot of potential but the shrimp I got inside was unfortunately mostly batter. That said, the sauce saved some of it but it could have been better. Strawberry Pineapple Lemonade: I don't have a huge sweet tooth, so this was too sweet for me. That said, it can help quench your thirst if you're looking for something refreshing. The service was really great despite it being packed and apologized in advance for the wait time for the food to be cooked. They have plenty of indoor seating but I would definitely recommend checking out the patio since it's so adorably decorated and themed. read more

Recently took a visit to Rodeo 39 and so many places caught my eye but decided to first try out Shootz Hawaiian. So many delicious choices! I decided on their Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken. it comes with two scoops of rice and a scoop of their mac salad that actually has tuna mixed in. Along with this Katsu chicken, I made it a combo and chose their Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi and a strawberry Pineapple lemonade. Let me tell you that this place is a winner! The katsu was perfectly fried and crunchy on the outside but on the inside was wonderfully moist! The kimchi butter flavor had a nice hint of kimchi buttery flavor, which made it even more tasty! I didn't eat the Honey Coconut Shrimp musubi as my son is the one that wanted it. He said it was definitely a winner and had a good amount of flavor and hopes to get it again next time. The strawberry Pineapple lemonade had a nice mixture of the strawberry and pineapple and it wasn't overly sweet or tart. It all balanced out well and liked it so much we ended up getting a refill. BTW, if you get a refill on their juices, its $1 for a refill but there isn't a charge on refills for sodas. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the food at Shootz and would love to come back if in the area. Shootz had plenty of seating in front and they also have seating in the back outside for their customers. Not only is there plenty of seating, everything was well maintained and so very clean. There can be a line here but it is super worth it. The food is amazing. The workers are also friendly. Shootz is located inside Rodeo 39 Public Market. Process: - order at register - will receive a text when food is ready (we used this time to walk around and checkout the other places) Food: - $12.99 Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken Plate (10/10): buttery, crunchy, flavorful with the right amount of sweetness. the whole dish is also filling. - 1 for $3.99, 2 for $6.59 Spam Brulee Musubi (9/10): can taste the sugar from the brulee, everything was well balanced Final Thoughts: I recommend everyone to try this place! Next time I will add the combo to the plate which gets you any musubi and drink for only $5 more. The drinks look delicious but I did not get to try. read more

I'm really tired of being asked to tip up front just to find out you get ZERO service from the staff. Makes me feel stupid for tipping. That aside, I really loved the food here. Walked in and found nobody in line. The employee stares at me without a word so I take initiative and place my order. Kimchi butter chicken katsu combo with brulee spam masubi. I ask "do you have any sugar free sodas?". She says "no, sorry, we don't but we do have diet soda". Wanting to make a joke about that I just keep quiet and agree to the diet soda. I then get the tip screen where I tip 20% and take a seat at the counter. My 20% tip got me a takeout bag which is placed in front of me on the bar. The 20% tip also got me zero refills and I had to throw away my own trash. Keep this in mind before tipping. You'll be doing all the work. Before these convenient Clover ipad looking registers at places like this you'd toss a $1 into the tip jar but now you feel pressured into tipping for service you won't receive. The food in the pictures looked small but this was 100% deceiving. The portions in my opinion were huge and I was stuffed. I loved everything about the meal. The spam masubi has the word "brulee" in it. Sure enough it had a creme brulee style sugar crust which made for a wonderful sweet and salty experience. The combo gets you two of them and they were filling on their own. The other masubi they offer is honey walnut shrimp which I'd love to try next time. The kimchi butter chicken katsu came with rice and macaroni salad. As other reviews mention I detected zero kimchi. I'm not sure where the kimchi part comes into play and it would be nice if they maybe garnished the plate with some to prove they use it. BUT, it did taste fantastic with a nice spicy kick. The entire katsu was crunchy even with the spicy butter sauce yet the chicken was moist and tender. I loved every bite even though I was pushing through to finish due to how full I was getting. Tons of rice that had a nice coating of the spicy butter from the katsu and the macaroni salad was tasty. Not a bite left when I finished. I have no clue if refills were offered since the employee avoided me like the plague avoiding eye contacting at all cost and the menu doesn't mention so I just sipped it to ration for my entire meal. Toss my trash in the can and noticed the HUGE line by the time I left about 10 people deep. Really loved the food and I'll definitely be back! read more

I ordered the kimchee butter Katsu chicken over rice and it was super tasty. No disappointments with the flavor and the portions. The cashier was super friendly. It was only disappointing that it was a 25 minute wait that I was not expecting to have waited that long as good as this entree was, I'll probably try the moco loco dish next time. Excellent option if you're at Rodeo 39! Don't let the line steer you away, it goes quickly and the food is totally worth it. This place picks up around dinner time for good reason, the food is amazing! My girlfriend and I had the Kimchi Butter Chicken Katsu, Kimchi Butter Shrimp, and the 2 pc Spam Brule. The Kimchi Butter Shrimp was the standout, I'm used to chicken katsu so this was a nice switch up. The shrimp was perfectly fried with a unique batter that offered a different twist on katsu, the flavor was there. The Kimchi Butter Chicken Katsu was great and similarly fried. The portion sizing was bigger on the chicken katsu so if you're hungry go for that, the shrimp included about 6 shrimp, a little smaller. I'm not the biggest Spam Masubi fan, but this one may have converted me. Loaded with sauce, this pairs very well with the shrimp or chicken katsu. Don't forget to follow it up with some of their flavored soju. Their main dining area was pretty crowded around 6 pm so we went outside and enjoyed the sun, plenty of seats were available outside. Got the spicy kimchi butter katsu chicken combo with the spam brûlée musubi. The spam brûlée musubi was good, would have preferred if the spam was grilled more. Spicy katsu is actually spicy but the savoriness of the katsu does get a little lost in the spicyness. I've been here before and gotten the non spicy version of the kimchi butter katsu chicken and it was amazingly savory and delicious. Kinda sad that the spicy version doesn't share that. I would recommend getting the non spicy katsu over the spicy one. The rice absorbs the juices of the katsu and it adds a nice savoriness to it. The mac and cheese was pretty basic, kind of the bland side. read more

Came on a weekday 4pm. Located at rodeo 39 with a bunch of other food shops. Shootz has their own outdoor patio seating but theres also plenty of seating inside the building. Got the wavy bundle #1 and food came out within 10 mins. Katsu was very crispy and savory. Spam musubi was on the sweeter side. Mac salad was standard. Located in the Rodeo 39 market hall, you definitely have to come here for their kimchi butter katsu sando! The katsu was soo crispy and flavorful and the bread was soft and buttery. It paired nicely with the Mac salad inside the sandwich. We also got the Jalapeño garlic shrimp combo with spam brûlée musubi, spam fried rice, and a strawberry pineapple drink. The garlic shrimp had a light batter around it and it was well flavored. The spam brûlée musubi was decent and had a lot of rice and mayo. The strawberry pineapple lemonade was very refreshing but a bit too sweet for me. Overall I would highly recommend trying out their kimchi butter Katsu sandwich. Seeing that it was Hawaiian BBQ didn't seem intriguing initially since we were looking for something new and unique to try when we first visited Rodeo 39, but then we realized how original it was after looking at the menu and trying their food. - Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken plate is so good. The flavor of the katsu and the macaroni salad are delicious. - Spam Brûlée Musubi was interesting but amazing. It's a nice twist to a usual spam musubi. The way it's made seems simple yet it's so good. Compared to their Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi, the Spam Brûlée Musubi is the favorite. Love this place overall! I ordered from the Stanton chain. I ordered 2 sandwiches, one with the "2FER special", so I was supposed to get three sandwiches AND I ordered my Mac to be on the side instead of on the sandwiches. Stopped by to fulfill my Local Food Craving \mn/ Yummyyyy :) My friend & I ordered the K Combo w/Spam Brulee & Kimchee Butter Katsu Sandwich Combo w/ /Spam Brulee. The combos also came with drinks, we ordered the Strawberry Lemonade. After we ordered the cashier mentioned that we get a free order of Jalapeño Garlic Shrimp since we spend $25. We were both surprised but were so happy!! Quality of Food: The food is amazing as always!!! It was such a nice to surprise. I prefer the Kimchee Chicken Katsu slices over the Sandwich. The Hawaiian style shrimp is to leave the shrimp shell on but I'm not a fan of it. So I wish shrimp was deshelled so that the flavor is on the shrimp rather than on the shell. The Musubi was nicely brulee'd and warm. Wait Time: It took about 30minutes to get to food. The cashier mentioned we would get a text when it was ready. But due to the loud atmosphere my friend didn't hear her phone. We realized it has been a while since we ordered we went back to look & it turns out we got the text 15 mins ago. So our food was sitting for awhile. When food was ready randomly the cashier would call out names of the orders so we were listening for out name. I wish the cashier was more consistent on calling out names. Another couple near us also had the same issue. We were at Rodeo 39 Market for the Soul Real Market event. Shootz had a soju table outside of their storefront by market entrance so we decided to stop by. The 2 girls working there were super nice and friendly. They let us try their soju which was really good so we came back with our friends to get a bowl to share. Island Juice Bowl ($29.99): We got a bowl to share between 4 people. There are 3 flavors you can choose from. We tried the blue Island Mojito flavor but it had too much of an artificial taste for our liking. We went with the Paradise Tea which was really good for this soju based bowl. I think they put 2-3 bottles of soju so it can sneak up on you! You barely taste the Jinro soju if you don't like the taste but I think the Jinro flavored soju is good on its own. This brand of soju is lighter than other soju brands I tried though (i.e. Soonhari). Their food menu looks really good too but the line was way too long. Definitely want to come back to try their food next time though! read more

I came here with a friend one day and was completely overwhelmed by all the options in this food hall. I finally chose this place and ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, and dude, it was delicious! There was a sweet glaze on the chicken AND macaroni salad topped on top of the chicken in between two soft buns. My initial bite definitely set the tone for the rest of the sandwich. The chicken was oh so crispy, juicy, and fried so well. The glaze really added a sweeter element to the chicken overall that took the flavor up a notch. The spice level however, could be a tiny bit higher because I didn't really taste the heat that was there. The macaroni was a very good addition to the sandwich and is an interesting replacement for coleslaw that is usually in chicken sandwiches. Overall, really solid spot! read more

I always pick up from here every time I'm in rodeo. The mac salad is really good I think. Despite the food looking real red it's not spicy at all. Service is alright my order was messed up a few times where they forgot an item. But as long as you show the receipt and go to the pick up area they will take care of it. It also takes quite a bit of time for the food to be ready around 10-20mins better to order online if you don't want to wait . read more

My husband and I ordered the katsu place and 2 pieces of the spam musubi brûlée to share. The katsu was really heavy but you can def taste the distinct kimchi flavor. The spam is good. It's basically topped with Mayo and torched w brown sugar. Overall it's good but not something I can eat too often. read more

This place is the only one stand I eat at in all of Rodeo. The prices are fair and they have a Combo going so you can try a little of what they serve. The chicken is good and though the portion looks small it definitely fills you. The have a great glaze on their masubis is and it tastes super rich. Their drinks are ok nothing special and it's located in Rodeo so the ambiance is kind of loud and quirky seating is available but limited. Although now that sits less busy i'm sure seating got betters read more

Got 2 spam musubis and the kimchi chicken plate for under 20 dollars I believe. My boyfriend and I shared and it was enough to feed the both of us. Was super good but nothing out of the ball park. Still would say it's a staple and a comfort food type of place! read more

They serve the Jalapeno Garlic Shrimp with the shells each time especially when I order there, so yes. It's supposed to be on the shrimp.
