We stay often next door at the Days Inn for our vacations, so the Shore Diner is a natural choice for breakfast or dinner. We often meet friends and family who live down in New Jersey there, and they are always impressed with the restaurant. This is a classic Jersey diner with subdues ambiance, excellent selection, good prices, and quick seating. The staff is not overly friendly, but sufficiently attentive. The food is well-prepared and always tasty, and the choices range the whole spectrum. It is even easy to get a truly healthy meal here - rare this close to the shore. We stopped here 7-24-21(3 adults, 1 child) we waited more than half hour after the waiter said "I'll be right with you" he was helping other waiters delivering their customers in the back room. He later took our order and the food was noting as printed on the menu. we had ordered the open turky meal. That took awhile to get and it was lunch meat turkey. We were supposed to get only white meat (believing it was true Turku on white bread,. I wanted rye bread. NOPE, WHITE BREAD. Food was Luke warm as were the other items. Ordered a dish of ice cream and the waiter put it in a warm dish, which made it melt faster. Also, we were seated opposite the kitchen entrance and upon looking in not one person in there was wearing gloves to prepare the food. NOT RETURNING TO THIS DINER, and will not recommend to anyone. read more

Excellent restaurant!! I wanted to take a little bit of time to recognize just how good this restaurant is. During our little vacay we've already visited twice, and thinking of stopping in again for lunch! Ex. $20 for BLT and 4 onion rings - i paid for extra bacon a total of 4 slices $4.50 for burnt bacon - a single thin sliced tomato - $2.50 for very small amount of avocado plenty of lettuce for 2 sandwiches - $2.50 the up charge for onion rings was fine-however that was for 4 rings that obviously had freezer burn and they were not eatable. Also, the table spoon of coleslaw was ridiculous - the most expensive BLT I've ever had! A BLT is a very basic sandwich and difficult to mess up however they manage to mess it up in epic fashion! Very good experience at this diner. My waitress was very kind and didn't screw up the order. My Flounder was excellent, as was my Mozz salad. The Salmon was overcooked, but that was the ONLY complaint I had. My booth and menu were both clean, as was the place in general. Getting in and out of the parking lot takes some finesse. Entry was three small (they said "jumbo") stuffed shrimp, which was inedible... barely warm, dry, and tough. "Mashed potatoes" were INSTANT potatoes. "Gravy" had the consistency of wallpaper paste. I've been coming here for years but recently something has changed and not for the better. The diner is not as clean and shiny as it use to be. The booth tables are sticky and the windows and mirrors are dirty. Service is lack luster. We ordered breakfast and asked for tomatoes instead of potatoes. We got 2 thin slices of tomatoes and my friends potatoes were burnt. A cheese omelette has a thin slice of greasy cheese on top. We left most of the food. really a shame. Came in for an early lunch the day after Fourth of July. Diner food is a necessity the day after celebrating America's birthday. It was crowded and there was a wait, so we opted to sit at the countertop. Our server was quick and very accommodating to our hungover requests. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and potato skins to start. The mozzarella sticks were pretty basic, but the potato skins were awesome. Soooo cheesy and they put a little broccoli on theirs, which we loved! I had the buffalo chicken wrap for my meal, and it was disappointing. The wrap was loose and everything fell out of it before the server even set the dish down in front of me. I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. It wasn't very spicy and they went light on the sauce. However, the fries that came with it were good. This place gets 4 stars for the speedy service, appetizers, and the extensive menu. read more

07/21/10 When sister mentioned that she and her boyfriend would take me to Shore Diner for brekky, I did not recognize the name. Once I saw the dark glass facade though, I knew I'd been here a few times years ago, when I used to live in the area. I don't recall what I'd eaten then, but I did remember that this diner offered many pastries encased in long display cases that lined the main dining room. My memory did not fail me. The service was friendly and efficient! The staff here knows my sis and her beau well, as they come here on a weekly basis. My sis had an omelet. (Sorry, but I can't recall what her beau had.) I was craving for something sweet, and once I'd read "Bavarian cream French toast," I just had to try it! When sister's beau gave me the thumb's up, I knew I was in for a treat! I also ordered a cup of coffee, black. The French toast was delicious! I know, I know-- the photo included isn't convincing you, but you must believe me when I say it was so very, very good! LOVED the Bavarian cream topping-- it provided enough flavor and sweetness that I didn't need any extra syrup. (BTW, the "maple syrup" here is a maple-corn syrup blend. You've been warned.) What it lacked in presentation (the toast didn't look too appealing, and the cream topping didn't look creamy enough), the dish made up in flavor and mouth-feel! No, don't take my word for it. If you live in the area, get up off your chair and run to Shore Diner now! Trust me, you're going to be glad you burned off a lot of calories beforehand, bec. this entree contained 1000 calories, or just under that. If you don't live here, be sure to bookmark SD and try it on your next visit. If the food doesn't wow you, then the service and the old-timey ambience will. [Just ask to be seated in the main dining area if you do go. The room we were shown to wasn't pleasing to the eye, at least not to mine, and it also lacked the coziness I felt when I walked through the main dining room to get to the restroom. It has booths with leather and little hanging lamps, is a decent size, and in the outskirts of Atlantic City so there are no tourists, and no wait. All of the eats were good, came here for brunch. I've been going to the Shore Diner for 19 years and they've always been reliable and it's quite the slice of American life! We're usually seated right away, order taken & food delivered promptly. I go for breakfast with my family on the weekend. The food is pretty good. Unfortunately, they've decided to display a selection of wine prominently next to the cash register where you first walk in and wait to be seated. I don't object to wine or alcohol being displayed, but this wine is of the "texting" kind with labels such as "LMAO" and "WTF". I don't enjoy having to explain to my 6 & 11 year olds just what those letters stand for. Yes, I could lie to them and make something up, but why should I have to lie to my children about something so declasse. This type of display really cheapens what had up until now been a wonderful family restaurant that I've enjoyed going to for nearly 20 years!! Apparently, they sell a case of the stuff a week and have a lot of it and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. We've overheard other customers comment they will not be bringing their families there for this very reason. Enjoy the Shore Diner, but beware if you're taking young ones that you might have some explaining to do. read more

Mehhh, your standard South Jersey dinner. I've been going to this place for breakfast for close to 30 years. Nothing fancy about the food. The pancakes are bland. The bacon is rubbery. The interior is a bit out dated. But I still end up going back. Unfortunately the other options in this area of South Jersey for breakfast aren't any better. On the plus side the food does come out quickly and they definitely have a lot of wait staff running around. My mom always takes me to this place every time I come down. Growing up I never really liked the place, but for some reason it grew on me. My mom goes there pretty much 4 days a week, so we might get better service than most. Breakfast is just as good Denny's, but with a little bigger serving size and slightly cheaper. I've pretty much had everything on the menu and have no complaints or real compliments. I recently had lunch there for the first time and was surprised. I ordered the ribeye. The lunch/dinners have an option for 2 vegetables. One of the choices is the fried eggplant and it is awesome. I've never had my eggplant fried like that, crispy on the outside and it "was like" boiled eggplant on the inside. It also came with a choice of a soup which at most diners I've been to the soup usually just tastes like heated up Cambell's. I ordered the chicken soup which was actually a cream of chicken soup and was surprisingly great. Definitely had a homemade taste.
