    Grand Slam sub

"Almost twenty dolla for a sub?" I thought. Then I unwrapped the sandwich from the foil and realized I was holding a small child. Even with my appetite, this thing was at least three meals. As an NYC native, I occasionally crave a phat bodega sandwich. And Shortstop delivered. As an aside, I also like their chocolate raspberry coffee.

Food was incredible. The sandwich was the best sandwich I had in Ithaca. Staff was friendly and helpful while making you feel at home. My wife and I split the single Italian sub which was more than filling, 10/10

I ordered from Shortstop Deli from Uber Eats. The ingredients of the sandwich were fresh and the flavor was off the charts! So glad I decided to order from this place (I was trying something new). The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because my delivery took over an hour but all that to say that the sandwich was still amazing. If you are curious, the ingredients of my sandwich are stated below My order: Bread Toasted, Cold Ingredients: Mayo, cucumbers, sweet pickles, dill pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, sub oil, honey mustard, and mushrooms

Very solid corner store that makes some pretty good sandwiches. I came here with lofty expectations after what I had heard from other people, but I can't say that those expectations were met. I've been here twice now - I got pulled pork (pictured below) and BBQ chicken. There is no seating, so this is naturally a takeout type restaurant. Service was quick and prices were fair (8 inch subs are roughly $10 and 12 inches is roughly $15, depending on what you get in the sub). Taste was good, but not great. Presentation really isn't their forte, but that is alright. I prefer DiBella's subs in a vacuum, but they've got their own issues of their own. The pork was well-seasoned, but the whole package just didn't seem to come together and deliver something that is truly rememberable. I went back after the first time, so I like it, but it did not meet my lofty expectations.

Do NOT eat here. Service is terrible, all orders are wrong and food is not fresh and totally repulsive.

The best BBQ I have had and I am from the south!…read more We tried the Full Texas (has all of the meats) with the potato salad, mac and cheese, cornbread, and a lemon curt tart. The tart was tangy, bright, not too sweet, and the bottom wasn't soggy at all. Excellent! As for the BBQ, all of the meats were so smoky and melt-in-your-mouth flavorful! I wasn't expecting to like the chicken, I typically go for brisket, but the chicken stole the show. It was moist and so full of flavor! Definitely my favorite! Closely followed by the brisket, then the ribs, then the pulled pork, and last, but not least, the chorizo/sausage. I also really liked the chimichurri sauce as well as the addition of pickles and pickled onions. They paired really well with the BBQ. I preferred the golden bbq sauce a over the classic bbq (sweeter and too smoky for me). Honestly didn't love the mac and cheese. It was a bit bland and would not recommend or order this again. However, the BBQ and everything else was so good that it makes up for the faults of the mac and cheese. Cornbread was solid- on the crumblier side and not sweet at all. I prefer my cornbread sweeter, but this was still good cornbread. I was pleasantly surprised by the potato salad on the other hand. I don't like potatoes in general because I find them to be too bland and chronically underseasoned. Much to my surprise, I rather liked this potato salad. I loved the addition of dill and green onions. This was really good with the BBQ. The interior is a bit lackluster and the building is unassuming. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful when deciding what to order though! Overall, I would highly recommend State Eatery! Incredible BBQ!

The brisket has a great bark and the right amount of fattiness. The pulled pork is great with the Carolina mustard sauce. We also got a half-pound of ribs. They were spot on tender as well, with just the right amount of smoke. The sides were excellent. We got the mac and cheese and potato salad. Both were awesome! Don't sleep on the baked goods. We got the lemon tart and an extraordinary almond cookie. The prices were about what you would expect for good bbq. Bring your wallet and an empty stomach. You won't be disappointed.

Super cute spot with lots of unique cider options and great cornbread/desserts!…read more We tried the Funkhouse, Sparkling Cab Franc, Fruit of the Bloom, and Persici (in order from dry to sweet). My favorites were the Fruit of the Bloom which is infused with ginger as well as the Funkhouse. I liked how crisp the funkhouse was and I loved the ginger note in fruit of the bloom. The others were okyay too, persici was very sweet but paired nicely with the ginger hazelnut baklava which was incredible! I am allergic to pistachios, so I loved that I could eat their baklava! We also tried the cornbread with strawberry and jalapeno butter- absolutely incredible. I am from the south and have had a lot of cornbread but this truly stands out. It came out warm with a slight crunch from the crust while maintaining the perfect crumb inside. Just crumbly enough and not too try! I also really enjoyed the jalapeno and strawberry butters- you can tell they use high quality butter, they almost reminded me of goat cheese. I preferred the jalapeno butter a tad more but both were great! The exterior is beautiful- the views are very nice. I would highly recommend coming on a warm day and sitting outside. We initially sat on the balcony but moved due to the bees. The tables underneath the white tent were shaded and bee-free. Service was pretty quick- our ciders came out almost immediately. We had to wait ~10-15 minutes for the cornbread though, but I didn't mind especially given it was warm! Overall, I would highly recommend!

Rustic, somewhat isolated house solidly built. It's excellent for souvenirs (jams, butter,…read morespirits, and of course, cider). Prices aren't the best, but considering everything is made in-house, I'd say you're getting decent value. Houses about 25 people for seating comfortably. I'd suggest trying a flight (4 samples) of cider. Can't go wrong with anything but we went with the sweet cider flight. We ordered the pulled pork, choripan, soup, turkey pesto melt, and farmers salad, along with an immunity (ginger) cocktail. We liked the soup, melt and pulled pork, but would pass on the choripan and farmers salad, esp since all meals came with the same salad anyway. While I don't think you should go here just for the food, it's nice to grab some cider before heading off on a hike and enjoying the natural scenery.

The coffee is also delicious and didn't even need a flavor added. The man taking our orders the first day was also incredibly kind and you could tell he just enjoyed his job, or at least was happy to be there. There's also a mini shop here basically. There's fresh bread and prepackaged meals here like Shepards pie and fruits and veggies. There also was plenty of cute merch and I left with two designs. Two things that I didn't like. Ordering was a bit chaotic. There are labeled areas that show where to order what, but if it's your first time in it can feel overwhelming and you might be wandering a bit figuring it out. I wish it could all be ordered at one spot, not like it's a food hall. I understand that this probably does work the best for them though and is most likely pretty easy for ordering if you're a local. Lastly, I had an issue with a woman working the second day. They have a big menu and I was looking at it above her head while ordering. She was fine while I was talking, but stopped me when I went to walk away. She said "You know, you really need to face people while you're talking to them." What! So awkward and weird. That's the main reason I took one star off because it caused me not to go back again. Very rude and felt like a mini lecture for no reason.

This visit we got coffee, breakfast sandwiches and various baked goods. The restaurant was busy and hopping with activity on a Sunday morning around 9AM. You order food at one counter but you pay at the other counter? All food is delivered to the "pay" counter. Service was fast, even with the crowd, the breakfast sandwiches were delicious, the coffee was dark (which we love) and the baked goods didn't last long. We got a cinnamon coffee cake and a loaf of bread that were huge hits. "Baked in Ithaca" - what a slogan!
