    BBQ Pork Sand.

I've been searching for barbecue in Miami that has a classic southern feel, wasn't an over-the-top experience, and was decently priced. Shorty's exceeded my expectation and is damn good barbecue. The main dining room are long continuous picnic tables, plenty of room to spread out away from other customers (or to be social!). Service is fast, staff is friendly. We ordered the pork bbq sandwich and the brisket sandwich, AND sides of corn bread. Everything was top tier, delicious, and extremely filling. The cornbread could definitely be served between 2-3 people because you get a whole loaf! Fries and coleslaw were the perfect sides with the sandwiches. Free surface lot parking nearby, no reservations required.

I ate here years ago when on business in Miami and as a Virginian, I know good BBQ. Best pulled pork ever- and it is pulled- not shredded. Very friendly service with a big smile. Sade was so great. The food was out super quick and perfection. Would definitely recommend. Conveniently located behind our hotel. But easy to reach via Miami rail Dadeland South stop. Lots to look at inside while you eat, but not for long - service is lickety split, ya'll.

God almighty. No gloves on many cooks. Those the at have gloves keep scratching their face and hair while gloved up. I watched staff help themselves ungloved to handfuls of French fries. Nom nom nom. Pigs. Unsanitary. How can management allow this nonsense. Calling the health department. Prepare for closure. Omg.

I wanted to give an update on my Shorty's experiences. They changed the menu a bit, added a couple of different items. The service was always good, that was never an issue. And of course the TVs with sports are always welcoming. My only complaint was the taste of the food and Shorty's seems to have improved in that aspect.

I haven't written a negative review in ages, and I truly dislike doing it, but this place absolutely deserves a 2-star rating. Let's start with the positives: the restaurant is situated on its own lot, providing ample parking. We visited on a Sunday around 8 PM, and they close at 10 PM. There's plenty of seating available inside, and the staff was attentive. The restaurant appeared clean, and the prices were on the higher side. Most of the tables are long, which means you'll likely be seated next to other families, but that's not a big issue. After placing our order, we waited about 10 to 15 minutes for our food. Up until this point, everything was going smoothly, and I had no complaints. We ordered sweet corn on the cob and a full rack of baby back ribs. The corn came in a small container slathered in butter, and while the presentation was impressive, the corn itself was not sweet at all. It wasn't terrible, but when you expect a certain flavor and it's missing, it's quite disappointing. When the baby back ribs arrived, they looked and smelled fantastic. They appeared quite large and resembled spareribs, but they were labeled as baby back ribs. I was eager to dig in. Unfortunately, the rib meat was tough and not tender at all; no amount of tugging could separate it from the bone. To make matters worse, the inside of the ribs was cold. We called the waitress over, and she quickly took the ribs away. After another 10 minutes, she returned with a new slab, which, had we not cut into the first one, I would have thought was the same. The meat was still tough, and while it wasn't cold this time, it was only lukewarm at best. The BBQ flavor was decent, but the meat remained hard and not warm. My wife managed to eat just two ribs; I decided to push through instead of sending it back and going elsewhere. (In hindsight, I should have done that.) About an hour later, I experienced the worst stomachache I've ever had. It took roughly 2 hours for the discomfort to subside. I'm convinced it was related to how these ribs were prepared, or rather, not prepared enough (undercooked). Unfortunately, given our experience with their food, I cannot recommend this establishment. As a result, we will not be returning here again.

He must stop every time I'm in Miami. It's always nice to find a restaurant that doesn't change their menu every time you change around trying to cater to certain little groups and that's the reason I always return no surprises. You know the food is good when you come in And the service is always spot.

Grew up near Shorty's & have eaten there multiple times over the years. Was there for a visit & went for lunch. Quite disappointing. They used to have their special BBQ sauce. We'll now they have some sweet sauce & a little offering of their signature sauce. One in our party had pulled pork sandwich & it was already dressed with sauce & was soggy. I had Mac & cheese for 6.99 came in small bowl & not creamy as described. Chicken fil a is much better. Hubby had rib plate, said it was ok, nothing special. It's to bad. They used to have a line out the door. We did buy a gallon of their original sauce, it's really good & won't be back here for some time. Probably wouldn't go back.

This is one is a classic! Food was amazing , we order a full rack of baby back ribs that were exquisite , we also order a combo of brisket and chicken that was delicious , a corn on a cob creamy and full of butter, coleslaw and xtra creamy fries and delish garlic bread! If you haven't try Shorty's you're missing out! Legendary BBQ for your tummy! Service was amazing by Edna , she was wonderful, ambience cool and chill, now there is A/C in the place so it's even better! We order the 4 desserts they have to go , key lime pie, pecan pie, carrot cake and chocolate cake and they were delicious!!! #happytummy

Come with me to Shorty's Bar BQ at their South Dixie Hwy location. Shorty's opened its doors in 1951 serving Southern BBQ-style foods. On this visit, I tried some of their signature appetizers and dishes. To start we went with the Corn on the Cob, Onion Rings, and Corn Bread. For drinks, I had their Sweet Tea and a Frozen Margarita. For mains, we had their Baby Back Rib Plate that comes with fries and coleslaw. For dessert, we tried their homemade Key Lime Pie. The appetizers were amazing, I love corn on the cob and cornbread and the ones from Shorty's are going on my favorites list. The Corn on the Cob is juicy and buttery. The cornbread is like eating a cloud of corn from how fluffy it is. I don't usually eat ribs, but the Baby Back Ribs from Shorty's are some that I would have again, they were tender and had a great flavor. The Key lime pie was creamy, tangy, and smooth, and the crust was just right. The Frozen Margarita was refreshing and the alcohol was present, but not overpowering. Overall, Shorty's Bar BQ is a must when you are looking for a laid-back atmosphere and some good Southern-style BBQ. The service was very attentive, they even gave us a small cup of water to rinse our fingers after eating the ribs. Thank you for having me, I will visit Shorty's again.

I ordered pulled pork but got dry roast beef

Good portion. Unfortunately, it's dry roast beef on a bun with a ton of fries. Takeout included no sauce of any kind. It's inedible

Let's get right down to it. The brisket, pulled pork, and barbecue sauce are off the charts. When we think of South Florida or rather when I think of South Florida, I think of seafood, stone, crabs, and Summer like drinks. Those are all valid, except when you walk through the doors of Shorty's barbecue. Great service and staff. My brisket was a little tough, which is why it's only four out of five stars, but I have a feeling it was just a bad batch.

When I traveled to Miami the last thing I thought I would be eating was are ribs & chicken but it was delicious When I think of Miami food I think of empanadas & cuban sandwiches not ribs Even the appetizers are very good! The onion rings are made of real onions not breaded fillers. Our waitress was great! I strongly recommend

Celebrating our friendship; had a wonderful time at lunch.

To start, we shared the cornbread, and wow--it was absolutely delicious. I would order it again in a heartbeat. For our entrees, my husband got the catfish and grits, which he loved, and I ordered the fried chicken with cornbread waffles. It was SO good. Seriously, I can't stop thinking about it. We shared collared greens on the side and they also were amazing- they were so flavorful! I really can't choose a favorite dish. I would order exactly the same way next time (even if it was too much food ). The atmosphere was also fantastic. The restaurant feels trendy and stylish without trying too hard, and everything is done very tastefully. They also have an outdoor dining area, which we didn't use this time, but it's nice to know it's there for good weather days. My only two very minor complaints: I wish the cornbread came with a little more butter--it was just a tiny smear, so next time I'll ask for extra; And I wish they offered a hotter hot sauce option for those of us who like a bit more spice. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, and I'll absolutely be back.

Relaxed, elclectic atmosphere, super friendly service, and food that had us questioning how tf we hadn't come here yet. The cornbread was incredible, the deviled eggs (our fav) disappeared in record time, and that mac and cheez was comfort-food perfection. The smoked chop my hubs ordered was slightly overcooked, but he still enjoyed it. My Lobster Bucatini was an unexpected win. Rich, light, but so so flavorful. Sadly, we tapped out before dessert, but honestly, every single thing we had delivered. Left stuffed, happy, and already talking about when we'd be back.
