I think I've found my official go-to sushi spot. There's a sad lack of good Japanese restaurants in the area, but this spot is a hidden gem! The sushi rolls were fresh with the perfect rice to fish ratio (very important!!). We ordered two special rolls, a classic roll, and a yakisoba dish. This ended up being the perfect portion for us two girls. The dishes were all delicious and solid with their presentation. The pricing was very reasonable with excellent service too -- it came out to about ~23/24 per person (with tip). I'd honestly rather pay for quality rather than quantity. I don't find it worth it anymore to pay to overstuff myself for low-quality fish at AYCE restaurants. With the great food, service, and ambiance, I'll be sure to come back. I have to be fair that I didn't taste their food, but the service definitely doesn't seem to be satisfying. When we got there, there was one couple ahead of us waiting, two families already sitting in. The host said we have to wait half a hour and would call us when the table is ready, no problem, I have no problem waiting for good food. So we wandered around for like 15mins and went back in. By the time we went back inside, the couple was already sitting in with no food on their table. We waited for another 15 mins inside. Surprisingly, we noticed that the two families that were seated half an hour ago didn't any food as well. The mom already looked impatient. I don't think we can get a table in another half hour with half of the restaurant not served with any food. During our waiting no one came to say anything to us. We left after another 10 mins. This is one of our go-to spots in the neighborhood. The service is always great when we visit. This is one of the few places that offer many Japanese izakaya style appetizer dishes on Long Island, would definitely recommend this spot for anyone. Sushi is also very fresh every-time we visit, although if I had to comment on something, it would probably be that when you order a nigiri set menu you should never have repeating neta. One of the better sushi places in Great Neck! They just opened a few days ago, but service, atmosphere, cleanliness is on point. There were 3 of us, ordered: -sashimi deluxe: I think it's good value at ~$20-25 for the type of fish and quality you get. Had 2 different types of imported Japanese fish, which i was very surprised about, given this price point: bonito and kamasu (I think that's what she said...). Also came with lean tuna, hamachi (yellowtail), red snapper, white fish, salmon. Good portions and pretty fresh. It's good value and quality mix for the $20-25 price point! -kaisen don (basically sashimi over rice): again, pretty good quality for $25-30 price point! Same fish selection as the sashimi deluxe (for today, I'm sure it changes daily), but no Japanese imported fish, but included uni, boton ebi (and they actually deep fry the shrimp head for you, which not every place in this price pint does), Arctic surf clam, octopus. Good portions and fresh. -oyster garlic don: My brother tried this and he said it was good, few pieces of deep fried oysters, thinly shaved colorful veggies and seaweed over rice - almost like a poke (but the seafood is deep fried). Love this place, one of the better sushi places I've been to around East Queens/Nassau area. It is fairly pricey (compared to others around) but the quality of fish they offer makes it worth it. Saw the nice reviews so went and ordered a few special rolls that aren't cheap. But it was very disappointing that the roll size was not much wider than the size of my thumb. Yellowtail not the great kind, hopefully they get better product. Sushi rice is the problem here, too much rice and rice a little under cooked. Also vinegar ratio is off, maybe some people give it a pass; I would give another couple chances to see if they get the rice right. On the other food, hopefully they can make a more authentic miso soup and better soup base for udon soup. The place is nice and neat, good for quick grab. But still smell from renovation. It's $65/pp AND most importantly, the fishes are from japan! Their appetizer is super appetizing. When I arrived for a late lunch shortly after 4:00 the minimally designed venue was empty except for one small family in the front that left ten minutes in. They decided to sit me in the middle of a wall area. I asked to have octopus sashimi "tako" where I was politely told it was not called tako. We worked it out and I was presented with a fine plate of sushi, and ika and tako sashimi after patiently waiting some time. My sushi was presented roughly some 40 minutes after entering the establishment. Not an issue for me and no rush at my end. During that time, I was literally the only customer in the restaurant for over 90 minutes and seemingly two delivery orders the whole time there. The sushi was very good once presented. So why only two stars? While waiting I had several engaging calls that prevented me eating my delicious meal at a more rapid pace. Around 5:37PM- 80 minutes in- they tried to take my plate away with 5-6 pieces not touched yet. I said I wasn't done, and they brought over the check. I signed the check and gave a good tip. They came back a few minutes later while I was still on the phone and told me I had to move since a table of 8 was coming at 6PM. This was 5:45 and I was just finishing my last two pieces they were trying to take away again. I had to establish I was finishing my meal and would be done shortly well before 6. Please keep in mind the place was empty the entire time I was there, and there were plenty of seatings for eight! So I finished shortly afterwards giving them 10 minutes to clear away and cleanup. I went to clean up after my meal informing them they had no paper towels and that their request for me to move in an empty restaurant was rude. Only got a vapid blank stare. In summary good sushi, very poor customer service. Without the "bums rush" at the end I would have likely given them more stars. Only wished I had been asked to move BEFORE my check and corresponding tip had been given. Hope this is helpful. read more

Hands down my favorite sushi joint at the moment. I come here at least 3 times a month! The first time I came here, I brought my family and had a really nice lunch. The interior is small and cozy but its decorated well. This place mixes clean and modern with industrial exposed pipes really well. I always come for the same 3 rolls but it's hard to deviate from that when they do it so well. The fish is always fresh, the spiciness is always just the right amount, and the rice is always sweet.
