Really disappointing experience yesterday. Had the salad bar. There were several items missing. We waited a good 10 minutes to get someone to attend to it. The soup bar was, we'll, underwhelming. The soup is put in the soup bar fully cooked and continues to cook in the soup station, to the point that everything in the soup is seriously overcooked. My wife ordered the ribs and they were undercooked. Ended up taking them home so she could cook them more. It's pretty obvious this place is mismanaged and way understaffed. Tired of giving this place 2nd chances. If it weren't for the 20% veterans discount this would be a 1 star rank. McDonalds is a better option. read more

Came in on Saturday 7/23/22 and we had a 15 minute wait to be seated which was fine with us. We were called in the 15 minute window and was seated and the waitress came quickly and took our order. After waiting 40 minutes with no explanation ( short of help?) we left without our breakfast. Many other patrons before us were also waiting for their food. Stopped by this place on our way through Show Low, Az. We normally go to Sweethearts cafe but they were closed Tuesday. Was a bit before 11 so a lot not open. Tried this place and was impressed. I got the ham and egg. The ham was a whole plate size, egg whites were perfect and potatoes. Husband got an omelet which was good as well. Cute place, they sell local people's art which is on the walls or shelves. I think that's great. Fast service and our waitress was always checking on her customers. Best breakfast offering on the mountain. Hearty, HOT, delicious. Pleasant surroundings with tons of art offerings from locals. We haven't tried other meals here, but we bet they are consistent with the quality of their breakfast. Their salad bar looks delicious and offer soups as well. Only down side is you have to walk up a set of creepy stairs to have a cocktail. That's a road block for seniors. Overall, love it. They also renovated rooms and prices are competitive which include a free menu breakfast. read more

Food was typical for a cafe. Ordered two egg breakfast.Eggs were cooked right. Wife's breakfast was good, gravy over biscuits were tasty. Service was VERY slow. It took us an hour from entering to leaving for simple breakfast food, and the place was not that busy. read more

We are new in town and since we would be considered "at risk" we haven't been going out to eat. I had seen their sign advertising all you can eat Alaskan cod on Fridays and I realized that my dear wife could use a day off from the kitchen (she has been doing a great job during our isolation). I wasn't sure how the Cafe would handle ayce for takeout. I called and inquired; the hostess politely explained the process and I decided to go for it. The order was ready to pickup when I arrived in less that ten minutes. Since we weren't interested in the included soup and salad bar they deducted $2 from the cost of both meals. They had honored my request for extra tartar sauce and lemons. Each order included three, thick, large pieces of perfectly cooked, flakey , lightly battered white cod, an ample amount of delicious, seasoned, fresh cut French fries and a side of coleslaw. First the good, there is an Arby's next door where you will end up for something to eat. The wait staff is also very nice. Unfortunately, I must state the bad. The kitchen cannot keep up with the demands of the restaurant. My party waited for an hour after ordering ; this would have been fine except when we asked we found out we were still there tickets from having our food prepared. Is this the way to run a business? No. My screaming one year old daughter forced an immediate exit, and we went to Arby's. I suggest you do the same. Hopefully the wait staff will be able to find work at worthwhile, well-run businesses. read more

Really good food, and reasonable prices. I had their breakfast omelette stuffed with crispy Bacon, fresh spinach, roasted tomato, red pepper, and cheddar cheese. It was topped with thin slices of avocado. I asked for salsa which they provided at no charge - a small bowl of freshly made salsa - no jar stuff. Along with the omelette came a side of pan cooked diced red potato with red onion and green bell pepper. It was as good as it gets - very delicious! I saw a picture of their burger which looked awesome too. I would definitely eat here again. read more

This is actually a part of the hotel complex behind it - so they have a guest seating area and then a 'visitor' seating area. The service was excellent and the food was fair. Lacking character or ambiance of setting, but perfectly fine if you just want to stop somewhere and grab a bite. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch. Our hotel recommended the salad bar and we were not disappointed. The salad bar was very well stocked and everything was very fresh. Waitress comes out and says kitchen is backed up and will be a while longer and there were 4-5 tables in front of us. People who came in after were getting food first. Staff seemed clueless and lost. Salad was good. First clue was it was empty of customers on a Saturday at 5Pm. They have a huge permanent outdoor sign advertising all you can eat Cod Fish. But when you go inside they inform you that it is only on Fridays. This appears to be an intentional deception. I ordered the Cod from the regular menu and it was a very small piece of fish served with very overcooked vegetables. In fact, everything is served in small portions. They must prey on the tourists because all the other restaurants in town were very busy. The locals are avoiding this place. read more

Had the free breakfast with the hotel room. I had gotten about halfway through my omelet, I bit into a piece of broken glass. Small cut on my tongue. I brought it to the attention of the server, and instead of an apology, she said, "I can't see how that's possible. We don't have any glass in the kitchen." I wasn't looking for a refund ( the meal was free) , I wasn't looking for anything other than possibly getting a replacement for the meal I no longer wanted to risk eating. Traveling through Show Low and stopped at this cafe and while the service was good the food was horrible. The coffee was very watered down. The eggs were uncooked and were sent back twice and still were not cooked all the way, the chicken fried steak was really mushy and the country potatoes which I asked to be cooked crispy were not fully cooked. Food was extremely flavorless. Needless to say I left most of my food there only ate my toast pretty hard to screw that up. read more

I love this place! Whenever I go up north I stay at the Days Inn right next to here and get their free breakfast (not everything is free of course, just select menu items). The food here is always freshly prepared and a lot comes with it. Last time I was here I picked it up to go and half of the order was missing. The hostess went and fixed it fast and was very nice, even though you could tell she was stressed (she said the other 2 people called in that day). My party didn't care for the biscuits and gravy as the biscuits weren't totally cooked and doughy, but if they had been cooked all the way they would have been better. The gravy was very good. The potatoes were just okay, I remember them being better. But the rest of the food was great! read more

We waited over 40 minuets and were promised we were next. We were told they had no other people on their list. We asked to use the back room and was told the manager doesn't want it used. A few minutes later a couple walks in and was told there was a wait. They were meeting friends there too. Then the hostess asks if they'll be eating or just having a meeting. I heard the entire conversation as I'm standing behind the hostess. She shrugs looking confused by the question because... yeah they plan on eating. She actually sat them in the empty back room we asked for and told me that they're just having a meeting. Then returns to them with a stack of menus. Elderly Vietnam Vets can wait standing 40 minuets but young bikers walk in are immediately seated. Which confuses me as we waited reading signs in the lobby about how much they honor vets. Total BS! We had pancakes and eggs with bacon for breakfast here. The pancakes and eggs were good but the bacon was absolutely tasteless. I have never tasted bacon so tasteless. Equally tasteless was the coffee. It was weak and lukewarm. The service was fine and the server friendly. However seated near us were two gentleman with a dog who was easily 125 pounds. He was well behaved but somehow i doubt he was a service dog. I love dogs and have one myself . I just dont like them in restaurants. Given the quality of the food and the coffee im not coming back here for breakfast.The dog seemed to like the food-he kept putting his head onto the table for it. read more

We made our first trip to Show Low Cafe and were pleasantly surprised. I had a hamburger that was fresh and large with tater-tots on the side. I believe it was as good as any I have found on the mountain. My wife had the PattyMelt that was cooked to order and very reminiscent of the sandwich you could order 20 years ago, ie fresh rye, 1/2 pound meat, and grilled perfectly. The cafe is clean and friendly. The staff was short for a Wednesday evening, but they kept up the pace needed to serve the several guests. We will be back. I want to try the Friday all-you-can-eat fish fry. read more

Yup one star, went in for breakfast this morning, stood around for a while, 2 waitresses standing there appearing to be busy together, after awhile a patron was done eating and went up to the pay counter stood there approximately 60 seconds and then a waitress scurried there to help him first. We finally found THE place on the Mountain to go for Friday Night Fish Fry! Stopped there on a whim, to try it out on 2-3-17. We were not disappointed. The best flaky perfectly battered and fried thick cod we have had in years. It's an all you can eat, but we couldn't eat all they brought on the plate. The cod was not greasy, it was steamy with a delicate crunchy coating. The fries were delicious as well. FRESH! Our waitress was outstanding! I've read that the wait could be long, but we arrived before the dinner rush and hadn't finished our clam chowder and salad from the awesome salad bar before our food was served. read more
