We have been going to The Show Low Cafe for several years since 2021. In the years prior to reopening in mid-2025 (after being closed for over 1 year for remodeling) the food and service was normally pretty good. I loved the Friday Fish Fry, so we would go specifically for that when we were in town. The soup and salad bar (all you can eat in the early days) was great. We loved the local home town look and ambience as well. We also liked the fact that they had the fallen soldier table to honor veterans, and liked that they sold local items like the metal art on the walls, honey, candles, etc. The tables also had the cards of local businesses laminated into the tops that we could use for future resources as well. Fast forward to after the remodel and all of the things that made the SLC feel comfy and homey and local are no longer around. Everything was removed, gutted and replaced with more generic stuff and the walls and decor are mostly cold and bland now. The food isn't as good as it used to be and from the looks of the lack of patrons, we're not the only ones that feel that way. The place used to be pretty busy, but based on our last few visits it isn't that way anymore. The remodel is beautiful, yes, but sometimes less is more. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, especially if you want to keep people that care about keeping the local ambience and not making the place look like it could fit into any city or town anywhere in the country. Not sure why they didn't refresh the outside of the restaurant, as that part is sorely in need of a bit of cleaning up and painting. We specifically came up to Show Low on a Friday night back in October for the Friday Fish Fry and were quite disappointed. The fish was over fried and dry, the coleslaw tasted awful and the clam chowder was mostly tasteless. Salad bar and soup are now 1 visit only and the salad toppings didn't seem very fresh and they have less choices. Very different from before the closure and remodel. We have returned for breakfast after that and the service was good and food was good as well. The 1/2 and 1/2 creamers at our table had something white and clumpy in them and one of them was already torn open and empty, which was weird and made us wonder what we just put in our coffee. We don't recognize any of the servers anymore, so we figure everyone left after not being open for about 1 1/2 years. I really don't like to give bad reviews for small local businesses and I want this place to make it and be successful, but why did they have to change everything and remove all of the things that made the old SLC warm and inviting and actually feel like we in Show Low and not the valley anymore? I definitely understand a refresh and good cleaning and update was needed, but to take all of the local flavor away is disappointing and sad. It makes me wonder how the local residents feel about it all, especially the honor to the veterans and advertising for the local businesses being totally removed like it never existed. We get enough of big corporate chain businesses in the valley, we like to patronize local and different places when we are in Show Low when we can. We are future full time residents, so we hope and pray that Show Low doesn't go the way of Prescott and turn into something that is nothing like it used to be. That's why we chose Show Low over Prescott in the first place. Prescott has turned into a nightmare in the last decade or so. We were debating on coming in for the Valentine's Dinner special, but we're not so sure about it anymore, which is sad. I truly mean this as honest criticism only. The restaurant business is not easy to survive in, but sometimes business owners do not think outside of the box and realize that people do notice these things and they do matter to a lot of customers, especially local residents and people that are frequent visitors, which I assume are a big part of whether a business survives or not. read more

Reopened after a long remodel. Place looks great. Meal not so much. Good service. Food came out quick. But it's just not the same deliciousness it used to be. Breakfast. After being closed for so long, I was looking forward to going back. The dining room to the right is very plain looking and pretty bland. The place was about half full and it took over 45 minutes to get our food. The food came out barely warm. My wife had an open faced turkey sandwich. The turkey looked like it had been chewed already. The vegetables (when they finally came) looked like they were initially served several days ago. Completely wilted, old looking and inedible. On a high point, the employees were nice. We'll give it a try again in about six months to see if things have gotten better. For now, we'll continue going elsewhere. read more

Waited more than an hour to only be served undercooked eggs and a Biscuit that had to be at least two days old. Don't get too excited about this reopening. Obviously the cooks are just learning and still have a long ways to go. Plenty of other great options in the area. Save yourself the grief and try them in another 6 months if they're still in business. read more

I ordered a burrito and had to ask them to make it over as it was filled with white rice. The second one they brought was just as bad. I tried to eat it but it was horrible. Full of white rice , barely any beans or onion or tomatoes. Manager wanted to make me something else but party I was with were almost finished eating. I left hungry but manager didn't care. Still charged me for the horrible burrito. I'll never go to Show Low Cafe again. Warning. Don't try it. After finally opening after being closed for over a year you'd think they could hire a better chef. Horrible experience! read more

Attempted to eat there, decided on the salad bar..... Big Mistake half of the options we empty. The lettuce was wilted and had slim on it. The salad dressings were empty and looked like they had not been wiped down along the sides for days. The soup container that had clam chowder in it didn't have a lid. Completely exposed to who knows what. Very disappointed. Not worth the risk of getting food poisoning. read more

They've done a great job on the rebuilding of the restaurant. I love the huge windows. The food was ok. I had a waffle. It was very dense and heavy, I couldn't eat it. However, my husbands pancakes were much better. read more

I heard this place had just reopened not too long ago, but I have to say, it wasn't that great. My son had chicken fried steak which was okay, but I ordered the turkey dinner and was disappointed. The top of the turkey was extremely dried out and crunchy on top, and no, it was not skin. The mashed potatoes were quite awful in the fact that my mashed potatoes were mostly peeling and I had to search to find the potato. The stuffing was okay. The deep fried pickles were pretty good and the salad bar was okay. It was the main meal that was a disappointment. We probably won't eat there again when passing through town. read more

Waited almost an hour for our food. My wife ordered Eggs Benedict with country potatoes. The potatoes weren't cooked and only warm. I had ordered a Chili Size, cooked medium with a side of fries. The fries were good but that's all. The patty was over cooked and charded on the bottom. I thought the bread was toasty but the crunchy was the patty itself. This is our 3rd try ...1st was day 2 of being opened so we figured eh they are all new it'll get better...2nd time 3 weeks later.....complete disaster the staff still didnt know their menu. Ordered a kids Mac and cheese and it was craft Mac and cheese for $7. Insane that they would do that. They also brought out my to-go order before the food that I had ordered for the table. This is the only place on the mountain that has a full soup and salad bar everyday that they're open. The staff is friendly and helpful. We've had breakfast, lunch and dinners here multiple times and they never fail us. This is honestly one of the little local charms in the white mountains. read more

Pros- The Portions were huge. The food is delicious and very filling. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The food is a little pricey but they make up for it with the large portions. Cons- There is no wifi, and the building is pretty old and actually makes it hard to even get on data which had me worried for a minute because I needed to get online to transfer some money over to cover my bill, but fortunately my data did come thru at the last minute. Overall: Not somewhere I could afford to eat on a regular basis but I could see myself coming back on occasion. Would like to try the Salmon sometime and I believe they had a Steak dinner as well. So yes, I will come back again, just not sure when- lol. read more

We stayed at the Days Inn-Wyndham Resort for two nights while visiting Show Low, Arizona. They do not have a breakfast service but, instead, give you vouchers to the attached Show Low Cafe. This system is infinitely better-and more delicious-than the cold cereal or make your own waffle from the other hotels where we've stayed. The service is friendly, fast and top-notch. The food is just like they describe on their sign-Down Home Comfort Food! The food was exceptionally good, portions dry large and served hot off the grill. We had 5 or 6 options for breakfast with our voucher from oatmeal to a good-sized omelet with choices of hash browns or country potatoes and toast, pancakes or biscuits and gravy! We tried the French Toast with one egg and bacon, the omelet mentioned, and Traditional Breakfast with one egg, bacon, toast (thick slabs), dollar pancakes (if silver dollars were 4 inches across!) and biscuits and gravy (which should have a monument to it). Friends ordered ham and eggs (so big it overlapped the plate) and 1/2 Egg's Benedict (because she's been here before and knew their size). We also came in one night to get the Apple Cobbler with ice cream which was ok for $4 and a cup of veggie beef soup-which was a large cup and really delicious for $4. I highly recommend the Show Low Cafe and, I know, we will eat here many times when we come up for the summer. Can't wait to try their dinners! read more

The food wasn't bad, but would not come again. We stayed at the Days Inn next door & we got a free voucher for this place for breakfast. We ordered the french toast & the breakfast sandwich. Both were ok, but not great or anything to get excited about. The French toast seemed prepackaged, not home made. The breakfast sandwich was disappointing being way too big (like the size of my hand & fingers spread out) & here I thought it was something I could easily eat while driving. The egg was very overcooked & the English muffin had such a plain grainy taste to it. It was also very dry & felt it laying in my stomach the rest of the day. Hi.. 3.5 stars for The Show Low Cafe. Very busy at 11am. Food was very filling. I had the Green Chile Melt and french fries. The fries are slightly seasoned. Both were slightly on the greasy side. I would recommend management add a creamy spicy sauce to improve the Green Chile Melt. It's currently a little bland without any sauces. Check'em out you might have to wait to be seated when you arrive. read more

Located in an unassuming Days Inn, this restaurant may be a bit of a surprise. You can enter it from the hallway inside the lobby or from some outer doors. Though all the fixtures are dated, and it seems untouched by the 2000's, the food and the wait staff are excellent. We ordered biscuits and gravy along with juice that came free with our stay. The amount of breakfast was copious and flavor as expected. Prices, if we had to pay, were more than decent at about $5-7 per dish. The juice could be larger though, as it seemed like a kid's size. read more

Found this place while driving on the main street in Show Low. I had the Denver Omelet and wife had the Eggs Florentine. The food was great and the servers were very attentive and friendly. However , the kitchen seemed to be overwhelmed and it took longer for the food to arrive which is why I will give 4 stars. Everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked very good .
