I had a very disappointing experience at the Showmars inside Northlake Mall in Charlotte. The biggest issue was the oil quality. Everything tasted like old, unfiltered fryer grease--the kind of heavy, lingering flavor you notice immediately. There was also that unmistakable burnt grease smell, which hit before I even started eating and carried through the entire meal. Visually, the food backed it up. The fish and fries were far darker than they should have been--easily several shades past what you'd expect from fresh oil. When you order fried flounder and fries, you're expecting that golden, crisp look with a light, clean taste. Instead, everything looked overcooked and came out tasting like it had been sitting in old, overused oil far too long. It's frustrating because you go in expecting bright, crispy fries and a tender, well-breaded flounder that feels fresh. That's not what you get here. Spending $34 on a meal like this made it even worse. For that price, quality should not be an issue. read more

I love showmars. Its usually a go-to for fresh food that is greek inspired. I thought I ordered my usual fav which is a Pita Burger (Original) combo with a side if their yummy ranch. The burger tasted funny. It was that weird mystery meat flavor with a pink center. The pre-made patties. I have never had a pre-made anything from showmars. It's disappointing and disgusting. I really enjoyed this place... I know it is in a food court in the mall but the service was really good. The fish was delicious. The Cole slaw was good but I was impressed with the grilled squash and zucchini. This is by far the best choice in this food court. Seriously a really good place to eat in the mall. read more

Walked through the food court looking for a snack. I stopped to look at the food at one Asian place and the lady (owner)didn't say hello or crack a smile. I walked to the next Asian place and the 2 employees were just chatting and didn't even look up. So.. I walked up to Showmar's to look at their menu. The girl working there said hi and to let her know when I'm ready. I decided to order some fries even though it wasn't what I was feeling like. The fries were served quickly and hot. I can't complain about crinkle cut fries, ever. Anyways, a lot can be said for friendly service and Showmar's is doing a great job! read more

This is a nice option to have in the mall. It's a step up from the other food court food. We got grilled chicken pitas with a side of corn and black bean salad. They both were really good. The tzatziki sauce for the pita was super good. They price is very reasonable for what you get. The employees acted like they cared and were very friendly. We made the right choice. read more

I got into a car crash after eating here and it was traumatic but all i can focus on is the fact that i had a burger before we left in the car. I had the single regular burger w mushrooms and pickles and it was divine. Despite the trauma i will be back one day to have the burger again. read more

11/25/11 Decided to grab a quick bite to eat while the rest of the family went shopping, so I popped over to the food court to see what I could find. Among the national food chains, such as Chick Fil-A, The Great Steak & Potato Co., Sbarro, Orange Julius, and Subway, I spotted Showmars and recalled reading a few good reviews on it, so I made a beeline and checked out the menu, which proved to be quite extensive: gyros, souvlakis, burgers, pita burgers, seafood platters, including fried flounder, hot dogs, and even baklava by the silce ($1.99, fyi)! Service seemed very friendly and eager to help. After a few minutes and a few questions, I decided to go w/ an Old-fashion Jr. pita burger (chili, cheese, coleslaw, onions, and mustard), hold the mustard, and a side of fries, for a grand total of $6. (FYI, Jr. burgers feature one patty, regular has two.) Combo plates were available, but I didn't want anything from the soda fountain. Paid for the meal and was given a receipt and a buzzer. Thought I'd check out the buffet spread at Maki of Japan (right across from Showmars) in the meantime, but I hadn't even crossed the path of chairs and tables to get to the other side of the room when my buzzer started to vibrate-- that was fast! My platter looked very nice, but I lamented that my pita burger lacked surface veggies, not even lettuce (!), and the manager told me that only the original burgers had lettuce and tomato. However, he offered to add lettuce for me- very nice! I enjoyed the chili-burger-coleslaw combo; however, I did find the whole sandwich a bit sweeter than I'd prefer-- most likely from the sugar in the coleslaw. Also, I would've eaten more of the pita had it been crisped/toasted. No matter, as eating less of the pita allowed me to enjoy more of the crinkle-cut fries- the best part of the entire meal! Those who like saltier fries may want to grab a salt packet or two, as my fries were a bit under-salted, even for my taste. Was happy to find something local in this mall's food court, and I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items on the menu! read more

I work near this Showmars and I've been eating at Showmars in general for decades. This one is usually on the solid side. Order correct, food hot, no mess or fuss. So, the service may have contributed to my want to post a review a lil bit. I'm one of those guys who eats a little bit of everything that's non-meat. Read: I eat vegan and vegetarian ish a lot and I enjoy it, but I ain't necessarily vegan or vegetarian....ya dig? Annnnnnnd, I travel a bit...internationally. So, I've tried a good bit of that vegan and vegetarian (non-meat) ish. The girls taking our order has HELLA attitude and behaved like they were already off work. I understand that it was close to closing time, but you have no reason to act so rude. One of them was talking about another employee in front of the customers, which showed me that there clearly was some trouble with teamwork. My friend almost snapped, it was tense. Mall food is pretty formulaic; :enter name here: Chinese, :enter name here: Japanese, :enter name here: Cheesesteak. And then there's this gem: Showmars! Consistant quality brings me back once a week. The cashiers are always pleasant, and the food is hot and fresh. One of my favorites is the Gyro, smothered in Showmar's signature Pita Sauce (an interesting take on the traditional tzatziki!) Try it with feta, and you won't be disappointed. I had a really yummy salad from showmars today. Im here in Charlotte for a work conference and my lunch per diem is limited. The mall was right across from our hotel, so a bunch of us walked over to the food court. Shomars was definitely to healthiest option amongst the food court, serving salads and pita sandwiches. My salad came with choice of wheat pita, hard boiled eggs, cucumber, tomato, grilled chicken, avocado, black beans, corn and purple onions. It was fresh tasting and all the ingredients were firm and colorful. read more

This Showmars is near my work and I eat here often. As with all the other locations in the Charlotte NC area, Showmars delivers both great seafood and burgers at a affordable price. They also have a selection of salads and chicken items, however I usually come for the flounder and shrimp combo. I definitely recommend this place, however if you don't like the mall setting, you should checkout one of their other locations. read more

Service was great here tonight inside Northlake mall at Showmars. Was greeted with a smile and warm welcome. When I went back up for a refill I was even asked how everything was. I had the Gyro with fries, both were cooked to perfection and nice and hot. Good job Showmars! read more

Portions are getting smaller and smaller for the prices. Watched a manager remove a small piece of fish from a customers plate, stating to the cook, that it was too many. How inappropiate to do such a thing, and especially in the eyeshot of customers. More than likely, I will not be returning to this location. read more
