I had the blackened white fish with steamed red potatoes. They snuck in one corn fritter which caused me to order a whole side of them as it was great. The whole meal was very good. We always eat at the Shrimp Basket in Foley when down on the Gulf Coast. I was very disappointed in the reduced serving of slaw. It is now a sample size, rather than a serving. I am also disappointed in the fact that the corn fritter side dish is miniscule--4 fritters!! Wow! Oysters were good but small. Next time, I will go to Doc's Seafood at Orange Beach for better shrimp. I do like the tartar sauce at Shrimp Basket. I always avoid the gumbo because I make it much better at home. read more

Food and drinks were fantastic! We sat at the bar & enjoyed a shrimp poboy with some gumbo! The gumbo was out of this world! Can't remember the bartenders name but the service was spot on! The manager, Mattie, stopped by to check and make sure we didn't need anything as the bartender got busier! Pretty good place! I ordered the Fried Shrimp Basket. It comes with 2 hush puppies, popcorn shrimp, a corn fritter, and your choice of side. I got fries as my side. It was $9.99+ tax. It was extremely satisfying. I couldn't finish my fries. You get a great amount of popcorn shrimp which were nicely seasoned. The fries were just fries, nothing special. The hushpuppies were the best ones I've had during my trip here. The corn fritter looked exactly like one of the popcorn shrimp, but luckily my boyfriend pointed it out. It was SO good! I wish they gave you more than one! I overheard my boyfriend's father say that his burger was really good. He said that it was well seasoned. Wanted to check out some local seafood and got this recommendation from a local. I had a shrimp taco and my friend had a mahi mahi taco. My taco was rather bland, perhaps I should have had the shrimp blackened rather than grilled. I added some of their house hot sauce to kick up the flavor. The 'famous' shrimp coleslaw was average. Other than a few small shrimp, you would never know it was different from regular coleslaw. My friend said her mahi mahi was good although it was underseasoned, she would have liked to have much more of the seasoning. The food took at least 30-40 minutes to come out - we overheard another waitress tell her table that they were short two cooks because one quit the previous night and they already had one position open. I probably wouldn't go back - I'd rather search for a better choice for local seafood. read more

We waited 30+ minutes ask for a server. Finally server came out she was nice except for the distracting star tattoo on her face. She did as much as she was capable off. My wife and I ordered catfish and onion rings. The fish had a strong fatty fishy taste. I sent mine back and replaced it with White fish. My wife sent hers back and ordered gumbo. They charged us for her fish, I ask to have it changed. The manager adjusted the bill charged me for catfish instead of white fish. charge my wife for gumbo, onion rings, slaw. and 2 hush puppies.
