People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

Perfectly battered, perfectly fried and succulently juicy and moist. This is the gold standard. The consistency over the many years we have enjoyed it is insane. How does a kitchen do this? I dunno. Overall they are friendly, the service is personable and efficient! Ambiance is that of a local diner style, not fancy just comfortable. We liked everything but the sweet grilled shrimp. We are from the north and maybe it is just a southern style we aren't familiar with or used to consuming. The gumbo is pretty good too. They have great mixed drinks and they have one that is a salted caramel flavor that is really excellent. Overall: would highly recommend for a good meal and friendly service. Probably the best place we ate in the Orange Beach area.

Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked on us frequently. The only odd part of the atmosphere was that cartoons were playing on the bar TVs even though there weren't any kids in the restaurant. For dinner, my husband ordered the surf and turf, and his steak was cooked perfectly. The baked potato, however, came with an overwhelming amount of melted cheese--enough for several potatoes. I ordered the blackened grouper. It was cooked well and had good flavor, but the fillet was very thin and wasn't as memorable as other grouper dishes I've had. The whipped sweet potatoes were sweeter than expected from the brown sugar, and the Brussels sprouts were heavily coated in a sweet balsamic glaze, leaving them soft instead of crispy. I think both sides would be better with less added sweetness to let the natural flavors shine. We finished with the Bananas Foster, which was delicious and a fun presentation. It came with three small scoops of vanilla ice cream and half a banana. Since the flaming presentation takes a little time, larger scoops of ice cream would hold up better and not be half melted by the time the fire goes out. We would come back to avoid wait at other restaurants but would try different side dishes next time.

The manager was checking on every one and offered my daughter fish food. At this point I have paid and we went to go feed the fish and when we came back everything on the table was gone. My bill was 92 which might be normal for 2 people here I'm not too sure yet. But I was so disappointed. My daughter said it was the best butter noodles she ever had and she ate up the bread.

The wife and I stopped here for a late lunch last week and were seated immediately. There was only one other party in the restaurant so they weren't busy. Wife ordered the shrimp basket which actually tasted pretty good. But we're sure the shrimp were frozen, and there's no excuse for that when you're supposed to be a shrimp restaurant, and so close to fresh catch. I ordered the gumbo and it was terrible. More like a thin broth soup and it only had two tiny bay (salad) shrimp in it. Seemed like everything was served in styrofoam or plastic, which as you know, really enhances the dining experience. It's also an ecological nightmare that we can't support. Waitress was friendly and checked on us during our stay, but was slow with the check and let us sit at our table with the pile of plastic and styrofoam trash. (Nice...) There's lots of great places to eat in the area. The Shrimp Basket IS NOT one of them. read more

We come to the Shrimp Basket every year on vacation for the all you can eat peel and eat shrimp. It's always been VERY good. This time however it was NOT. The first initial plate they were smaller in size, very rubbery and just didn't taste the same. We ordered the refill and I proceeded to eat another shrimp, it was mushy and tasted rotten. I had to spit it out and nearly threw up. I couldn't eat anymore after that. My oldest who also ordered it had several that turned to mush as she went to peel them and she wisely didn't eat them. My mother ordered the grilled halibut. There were three VERY small pieces and it was overly salty, and over cooked. A $22 dinner. We had a group of 10, all ages, for dinner at The Shrimp Basket last night. When we arrived, the house was pretty packed. We were seated within three minutes, and had our drinks very quickly. This was our guests' first visit to a Shrimp Basket, and our server Laurel answered every question, and accommodated every request with a smile. A few hours later, after feasting on raw oysters, fried pickles, onion straws, seafood queso, and entrees ranging from sea bass to shrimp to chicken quesadillas, we left full and happy. Laurel kept our glasses full, brought extra sauces we requested, and got our orders just right. This is such a great place for a couple or a crowd. I went in yesterday for lunch, food was good and service was good but management was horrible. The manager stopped by my table to ask how everything was and when she walked away she walked straight up to a server and began to dance and rub her chest against hers. I know the server felt uncomfortable because she saw us looking. I feel this is completely unappropriate for a family restaurant. When we were leaving I saw that same manager sitting at the bar rubbing her chest again. Gross!!!! I will never return here again and I advise anyone with children to stay away!! read more

We love Shrimp Basket. The staff is fabulous and the food is fantastic. We've been coming here since they opened in O.B., even tho Shrimp Basket is in Pensacola. We just love getting out close to the beach. Today Leslie was our service (we've had her before) and as always, she was very pleasant. Our food came out quickly, hot and delicious! Never in my life have I ever heard a manager (Brandon?***) blatantly disrepect a employee in front of customers. He is extremely rude and has no respect for the people eating in his restaurant. We have always eaten at the shrimp basket in Gulf Shores. We recently ate at the one in Orange Beach. The food was just as good, but we had horrible service. The server was rude and ended up charging us the wrong ticket (difference of $97). It took several call backs to the manager before being refunded correctly. The sauce was perfect consistency I recommend adding the crawfish. Highly recommend the raw oysters they were large & in charge. The chargrilled oysters were good.
