I had lunch here with my family while on vacation. The staff were super friendly. The food was terrific. The atmosphere was laid back. I enjoyed the popcorn shrimp basket. They have these amazing little corn fritters that are super delicious. My husband had the Fried Shrimp and Fish basket and he gave it a thumbs up. The kids shared a huge basket of chicken tenders and wanted to go back for dinner. Good price for a lot of food. Wish I would've had room for dessert. read more

Was good 2 years ago but last night we got back into town and ordered dinner for pickup. Two shrimp baskets. IT WAS SO AWFUL. We were very disappointed. The shrimp was smaller and not well prepared. The hush puppies were so old and hard as to be inedible. The $36 meal went into the garbage. What a waste of money!! Friendly, attentive service. Margarita was great! Shrimp po' boy large and tasty with crispy fried shrimp. "Crab Burger in Paradise"--cheeseburger including a crabcake--was delicious. Highly recommend the "funnel cake fries" for a sweet, crunchy treat to share. It's just like the fairground but with out flinging powdered sugar everywhere by having to pull it apart. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 pm. We got seated quickly. Server took our drink order but took like 20 minutes to get our non-alcoholic drinks then another 10 minutes for the alcoholic drinks. Appetizers we ordered the fried pickle chips which were good. I ordered a Cheeseburger in Paradise which was a $15 burger with crab cake on it. Burger was just average and for $15 was expecting something better and kinda dry. Also asked for a side of ranch for my fries when I ordered. Didn't come with burger and I reminded server to please bring a side of ranch and he just never brought it. Sorry don't think I should ask 3 times for something. They weren't even that busy. For $15 would expect a better burger too. Won't be coming back while we are here. read more

Terrible service! We were seated reasonably promptly and after a few Minutes gave our drink order. Then we waited for 20 minutes. Nothing. Grabbed a passing waiter and complained - were told server was busy with a big group but he would tell her to to see us. He didn't fix the problem and she never came. This place was recommended by family who regularly comes to Orange Beach as a decent spot to get some local seafood. Apparently, when it's slower, they freeze and microwave the food the serve to their customers. Which they admitted was what happened when they served me a frozen corn on the cob twice and another person at my table frozen potatoes. The coleslaw was rancid, and the steamed shrimp were rubbery and unpeelable, likewise inedible. For our trouble the "manager" discounted the tickets but to be honest the only decent experience was our encounter with the sweetheart server who was both embarrassed and who worked hard to make things right. We will obviously be back to OBA but this is the last time we will spend a dime at this freezer-to- microwave piss poor excuse for a restaurant. read more

We came to the restaurant and were offered a seat at the bar or 20-30 minutes wait. We decided to sit at the bar. The bar tender was excellent and had a great personality. She took great care of us and offered suggestions that were fantastic. We've eaten at different Shrimp Baskets over the years but she really excelled. The food was great. We ordered fried whitefish with okra and grits. All the food was hot and fresh and great tasting. I know the expectation for Shrimp Basket is less than a formal sit down restaurant, but they really did a great job. Service at any restaurant should be good and they definitely knocked a home run on that one. I'd go back again anytime. read more

Always a quick dinner stop for us when vacationing in OBA, typically we snag carry out after a long day at the beach. This year's trip to OBA we ordered crab cake entree and the blackened mahi-mahi entree. Crab cakes were delicious, mahi not so much. The menu states "Blackened Mahi-Mahi with Shrimp Étouffée: Blackened mahi-mahi covered in our housemade shrimp etouffee, served over yellow rice with our signature shrimp slaw and hushpuppies". I should have checked the box before leaving, didn't quite get what was advertised. Mahi entree was missing the Etouffee and the yellow rice, Mahi was not a typical fillet but a few small pieces and also extremely dry. Hope they do better in the future or we may be done with Shrimp Basket. Giving 3 stars because of the past experiences and great crab cakes, just don't order the blackened Mahi. read more

We were seated and then sat there for over 10 minutes before anyone even came to see if we had been helped, but plenty of help standing around the hostess desk. Ordered food and drinks. Eating at Shrimp Basket is a highlight and a tradition in our trips to Orange Beach. The price is better than most seafood restaurants. This is one of my wife and I's favorite seafood joints. The inside is simple and the service friendly. The food always comes out hot and In a timely manner. Their specials are great and their food is almost always top notch. Their catfish is probably the best I've ever had. Lightly breaded and juicy with freshness. My wife is a Huge fan of their peel and eat shrimp. It's her favorite. She convinced me to get the Shrimp boil for two twice since we've been here visiting. On our annual trip to Orange Beach we decided to try the Shrimp Basket because it was close to our condo. We ordered online to avoid the crowds and long wait. The pick up time was supposed to be 20 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later our food was ready, however items were missing from our order. It took an additional 15 minutes to get the missing items. This place is popular but their food is like the McDonald's of Seafood. Cheap and somewhat decent. The food was hit or miss-some good some terrible. The service was great though; friendly and attentive. I ordered oysters with shrimp. The shrimp was ok. The oysters were cooked in a different grease which was pretty old and they were overcooked. The fries were ok. The shrimp slaw was ok. The second order was for fish, which was surprisingly good. Not sure what type of white fish it was but it was seasoned and cooked beautifully. This is the largest and cleanest of all the shrimp baskets. We live in Foley but come to this one. The food is great. Today we had raw oysters, shrimp cocktail and Chilean sea bass. All very tasty.
