My hunny and I decided for a birthday treat we would go for a nice steak dinner. We've heard great things about Shula's in the past and couldn't wait to try it out. Soon after being seated Giovanni promptly came over and introduced himself and his other staff member who would be taking care of us for the evening. He was so polite and took his time explaining through the wine list with us. We decided to each go for the summer menu. Giovanni was explaining to us that it was a great deal and we could upgrade as we go so we could have the exact meal we were looking for! We started with a crab cake and Caesar salad (delicious)! Then headed into our upgraded 8 oz filets which were cooked perfect and had the best seasoning and little portion of sauce on the side. We got the Mac cheese as one side which I highly recommend. For the other side we ordered mashed potatoes (honestly with how everything else was I thought they would be less boring but they are just plain ole mashed potatoes). For dessert we had one key lime pie togo (we were so full) and we upgraded to a cinnamon apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream which we enjoyed there! It was dreamy. Giovanni even put a cute little chocolate on the plate that said "happy birthday"! And a candle on the plate for me to blow out! What an incredible touch! Second time here and as always service is great. The sourdough bread is amazing and fresh. I ordered the Burrata salad which was very good, the cowboy steak is perfect to split. The Mac and cheese was so good was very cheesy and had great flavor. The Brussel sprouts were very pleasing. Our waiter Tad recommended a great glass of wine that was one of the best wines and I don't like to order fancy expensive wine. The creme brûlée trio was amazing I highly recommend coming here over the other steakhouses in Naples. The food was amazing. I give it 3 stars instead of 4 because the service was so terrible. When you have a party of 6 or more, they automatically add 20% gratuity to the bill. I have absolutely no problem with that. However, when the waiter knows it and you hardly ever see him, it's a problem when I am spending $250 for just my wife and I. My glass stayed empty most of the night, as most of the people at our table did as well. We were in an enclosed room that seats 10 people, so it was quite warm. The waiter said he would lower the air, but never did. I actually ended up just drinking water the whole night since he never asked me what I wanted to drink. The steak and the wedge salad were amazing. But the Brussel Sprouts were not cold, but weren't hot either, but good. The mashed potatoes were absolutely nothing special. First class steakhouse. I cannot rave about Shula's enough. Everything about the experience was stellar. I'll start with the service. Our waiter was just the best. So attentive and very nice. Our reservation was for 7:00 but we ended up being there very late and he didn't mind. He was great from start to finish, so much so that we had to call over his manager to rave about him. Then we have the food. We started with a few salads that were delicious. But the steak was the star. No surprises, considering Shula's is a steakhouse. But these cuts are no joke. The Shula Cuts are a quality that goes above and beyond USDA Prime. And it shows. Around the table we ordered a few filets, a porterhouse and a cowboy ribeye. All were very happy. I personally had an 8 oz. filet prepared rare and it was like butter. The sides were great as well. We ordered a few baked potatoes and some grilled asparagus for the table. Yum! And, what meal is complete without dessert? We finished things off with a chocolate lava cake. Chocolate overload! Wow! If you like chocolate even a little, you need this in your life. Can't forget the wine! We took a chance on a new wine we'd never tried before because Shula's indicated it as coming from a woman-operated vineyard. Well, it's probably now our new favorite wine. I also find it funny that this review is the only one that hasn't gotten a response from the business owner :) We've been wanting to come to this restaurant for quite some time now and we finally decided to go. We went on Wednesday, so it wasn't busy. We had 2 servers, I believe the young lady was training. We got waters and I ordered a glass of wine. We were never asked for refills until the end of our meal. After the food was served, we were asked to cut the center of our steak and we did. We never saw our waiter again, we had to ask the young lady, in passing, for a refill on our waters. Compared to Ruth Chris & Longhorns, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. For the price of this place, you would expect exceptional service. We should have gone to Ruth Chris or Longhorns because the lack of respect at this restaurant was unbelievable. I give 3 stars just because the steak was very good. The potatoes were barley warm and looked like they had been sitting out for a while. Atmosphere - 5 star Food - 5 star Service - Negative numbers Shula! How can you be so inattentive with your supposedly live, in the flesh employees while the dead meat on the plate is so admirable? I made a rez for 3 for the end of summer season and very popular Friday, $9.95 Prime Rib lunch. The reservationist asked on the phone, "Is is a special ocassion?" to which I answered, "Actually, yes! We are celebrating the news of a baby coming." She replied, "Awwww - Congratulations!" On arrival we were seated promptly at a table that gave us a view of the dining room. The waitress ("Shannon" per the check) seemed pleasant but rushed. We got our drinks and ordered right away. The lady seated alone at the table next to us received two rounds of bread and two plates of butter before we had to ask for bread. Shannon said it was in the oven and would come out soon. Which did not explain the availabliity of bread just 3 feet from us, but o well. The plates came. NO inquiry about expected steak temperatures. NO inquiry about horseradish. I asked for some and two cups hastily arrived - fresh grated and creamy. All ok, but NO moment taken to ask the gentlemen who had returned to the table during delivery of the two cups, if either was his choice as well as mine. Kind of a take it, or leave it condiment supply. When the plates were taken away, we observed two separate tables being visited by two different managers, asking each of the elderly couples if they had a special occasion. They each said yes. We smiled as chocolate cake arrived for each. We waited. And waited. Shannon and no one else connected our reservation note with our own Special Occasion expectation. Instead, a check envelope was wordlessly delivered to our table. We debated about asking. I volunteered, and waited as the gentleman with us put cash in the bill folder. I discretely flagged Shannon and asked about the Special Occasion presentation. She asked what it was, and I repeated what I had told the reservationist when asked myself by her on the phone. Shannon deferred, saying they only bring cake for Birthdays or Anniversaries, implying that we were somehow ineligible. When I stared back at her, she huffed, "So you want a piece of cake?" Jeez, that's raw. "Sure. That would be nice." Her reply on exit, without waitng for our response, "Y'know we usually charge for that." The cake didn't come and didn't come. The last of the luncheoners were clearing the room. Shannon did eventually return the bill envelope, SHORT changed. While waiting again, I observed a woman manager discussing a billing dispute at the adjacent table. As she began to leave, I raised my hand to get her attention because Shannon had long disappeared. The woman manager was very dismissive and snapped, "Ina minute!" She never came to the table. When Shannon finally emerged, she carried a piece of cake and a big frown. Which expression got bigger when we asked not only for return of the shorted dollars but asked for return of the 20% auto add gratuity to allow for a bit of discretionary judgment on the tip. She blamed the computer for telling her how much change should be returned to us. And, since we had been sitting at the table for longer after lunch than it took to order & eat, we decided the begrudgingly celebratory cake had lost its appeal. The breakfast food was ok. The service from the waiter Dilan was EXCELLENT. But the service from the waitress MELINA, who seated us at the table, was very hostile. She seated us at a very dirty table. I told her that if she could change the table, since the tablecloths was very dirty or change the tablecloths and her answer was" No", "are just stains" and she left the table with an arrogant attitude. There were several empty and clean tables next to us and she also said "No" and not allow us to change to another table. The food was good but it was very unpleasant and uncomfortable to eat on a dirty table. In this situation and this bad service the correct action was to leave the restaurant. But to avoid a greater displeasure with my family, that I invited to breakfast, I decide to stayed. But that service and dirt can ruin anyone's vacation. It was my second time visiting the Hilton Naples hotel and for a next time I will not be able to visit this restaurant. Stayed at the Hilton hotel and went for breakfast on a early Sunday morning. I was expecting a certain quality standard when eating at higher end restaurant for the breakfast service. The lox and bagels were not close to a decent standard. Bagel was from a bag same as available from frozen department at he local grocery store. Completely soft even when toasted. The wait staff were delightful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was especially impressed by Paige, Krista, and Williana. They made my stay especially memorable. Fiance took me here to celebrate my 30th. As foodies, we dine out quite regularly and have been to most of the restaurants in town. Still I can say with ease that (from the customer's perspective) this was perhaps one of the most well run restaurants I have been to. I give out 5 stars sparingly, and this place is really nothing short of. Staff here are clearly well trained and all work together to go above and beyond to ensure a 5 star experience. For starters, as soon as we were seated we were asked if we were celebrating anything special (which lots of places forget to ask!). Then, a card & a silver "Shula's Happy 30th Birthday"plaque was placed on the table which is genius for two reasons: a) it adds personalization to the visit and b) it effortlessly markets their restaurant in birthday photos taken! A Don Shula signed football with menu items was also placed on the table which was another personal & unique touch. Then once we ordered the bartender came over to our table to ask what type of drink he should customize, then came back over to personally pour his creation. They then proceeded to show us the uncooked steaks you can choose from, so you actually see what you are ordering. The steaks came cooked at perfect temperature: medium ribeye and Pitts rare. After eating fantastic entrees, the waiter demonstrated photos of dessert options while providing explanations for each to aid in selection. Final thought: hats off to management, place runs like a well oiled machine! *Also, highly embarrassing blooper I'll share: SO & I got so distracted by where we were going next that he forgot to give them his card! So, instead of like most restaurants where you get an itemized receipt in the checkbook first, then you give them your card, and then they bring your card back with a receipt that has the tip line, total line, & signature line, our waiter gave us a receipt with the tip line, total line, & signature line right off the bat. Being accustomed to getting up at that point (like Pavlov's dog I guess... lol) & enthralled in convo he signed it & we stood up! So, we almost dined & dashed for the first time in our lives! Vegan at a steak house? First, thank you Yelp! Free mojito martini with check in. Include the 100 points i got from Open Table and viola! It was a good meal. Pricey but it was worth it. You are treated like royalty. Warm sour dough bread fresh from oven, everything was ideal down to the server with a strong European accent. Another good thing about expensive places is they work with you as a vegan. I think chefs secretly enjoy making up special foods that challenge their creativity. Unpleasant experience, as we selected a fixed menu with 3 options of main dish for a party of 60. Servers. Were fantastic and accommodated extra 6 guest with no issue. Appetizers were ready and set properly at agreed time; same as wine....How ever we waited more than an hour to just get entry cesar salads, we constantly asked to have plates to start coming however 47 minutes after the salads (1:47 after ordering) and 4 direct requests to the manager to at least serve one entree plate in the table... we lost a good portion of our party tired of waiting so we canceled the order and had 67 people walk away ... we selected the restaurant because of the recommendations ... how ever do not plan on a big party at this place they can not handle it.... not sure abut the quality of the meat, chicken or fish... it never arrived! read more
