Mannn... I'm mad I didn't get a picture of my food beforehand. It was so damn good. I killed that damn meal. This was my first time trying Indian style curry and I am in absolute awe. This food came from God. Like I just know it. It was that Good! I even stole my boyfriends plate. I had the curry chicken bone in with the cheese naan and garlic naan. Based on a take out experience* After reading reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the Beef & Lamb Gyro & Chicken Tikka Masala. The gyro was pretty ordinary - dressed with lettuce and tomatoes. I asked for tzatziki sauce on the side.. the small container was less than half full so that was disappointing. The meat itself was okay, not too salty. The naan was wrapped in paper towels.. inside a brown bag, strange? The chicken tikka masala had a thick layer of oil on top, which was super spicy. I didn't mind the spice, but for others it may be a bit harder to eat. The chicken was falling apart tender so that was a plus. Overall, I'm sure there's others who love it, but it wasn't for me. read more

Inconsistent. That's the problem. When it's good it's good but they are so unreliable. I only order one thing from here - VINDALOO which is supposed to be spicy. After learning I have to ask for it spicy I started doing that and it's still not spicy. Why is this the only place I have to specify to make it spicy? By nature this is a spicy dish. Just ate my last meal from here. It was so bland I had to add salt and red chili flakes and it was okay. Even pulled out some Mexican leftovers fun yesterday because that tastes better. I was under the weather a few days ago and was craving Indian food as a pick me up. We decided to order takeout from Shyan's and I was very impressed that many of the dishes were offered with rice or naan - usually naan is sold a la carte. I ordered the aloo gobi, chicken tikka masala (in lieu of my beloved butter chicken that is not on the menu), and the chicken biryani. I was very disappointed that I did not receive the plain white rice as an accompaniment to one of my ordered entrees. It was even included on the receipt (no charge, of course - but they did take the order correctly). My all time favorite Indian dish is butter chicken; however, Shyan's chicken tikka masala satisfied my palate well, and it even seemed "less heavy" that my go-to which my waistline definitely appreciates. I was very underwhelmed by the chicken biryani and would not order it again. It seemed to just be some colored grain rice with a few pieces of chicken thrown together, there was no mixing of flavors. Overall, the naan, aloo gobi, and chicken ticka masala were good. Will probably re-order at some point. read more

When a customer is at the counter and ask for an extra sauce. To here the cook yelling to the server and then tell her to charge you $2 for the small container of sauce is sad. Mind you I was not charged yesterday. I know times are hard but don't take advantage. I will not return. read more

It is a small place, but the food is super! The service was excellent. They are very attentive. We went for lunch on a saturday, and it was not crowded. The food came in a timely manner. We had the Falafel appetizer, and they were golden crispy. They come with a yogurt base sauce that was very tasty. We were 3 people and we had 3 entrees, and it was just the right amount of food. We had the Goat Curry, the Chicken Tikki Masala, and the Chicken Biryani. My favorite was the chicken tikki masala, it tasted like a more spiced butter chicken. It was so creamy and delicious! Delicious food and friendly staff. I found food to be very similar to North Indian food, well bit customized to suit Americans taste. For appetizers we had ordered for veg samosa, and it was almost something which we get on Delhi streets. For main course we opted for paneer tikka masala, which wasn't like tikka masala (which is generally hot and spicy, without creamy gravy and paneer or any protein is barbequed) but more like butter paneer, but no complaints bsc it was taste. Gralic nan was prefectly complimenting with saag. They serve really taste India tea - Chai. One more thing we had Mango lassi as well, which was more like mango juice. To summaries they have really delicious food, but bit pricey to protion they serve, but they claim that "they make everything fresh- It's scary". PS: there experties is in lambs, goat tandoori that will be really must eat items if you visit this place. read more

I rarely leave a 1 star review, but this place truly sucked. My boyfriend ordered a chicken dish and when it came he was completely unable to eat it due to bone shards throughout the dish. Disgusting. Upon inquiring, we were told that this was the authentic way to serve indian food. I love indian food, had indian friends and eaten at their homes, and never did I have to spit out bone shards during dinner. This is dangerous and gross, and if it is done in india as standard than it shouldn't be, and it's not done here. So cook the dish in a way that is going to allow your customers to eat their food, not choke or break a tooth! He did show me several of these in the dish before he gave up even trying to eat, we paid the bill and left. We need more indian food around NOLA, so I wish i could recommend this place, but I can not. We won't be back. read more

I came here with a friend for lunch on Sunday. They are located in the corner of a very small strip mall on Houma near East Jefferson Hospital. When you walk in, it's a very small room. They have about 3 booths and 6 small tables. It's a little bit of a tight fit. Their menu is very large. It took us some time to really look it over. We both decided on the Chicken Tikka Masala. You get a choice of Basmati Rice or Naan as your side. (We chose the rice.) We also ordered the Vegetable Samosas and Roti. The Vegetable Samosas came out first (2). They were alright. I prefer when Vegetable Samosas have Carrots, Peas and Potatoes in them. These only had Potatoes and hot spices. The Roti was very good. The Chicken Tikka Masala was excellent. It had a lot of good quality Chicken pieces. The sides of Basmati Rice we received were large portions. We had plenty of leftovers for another meal. A nice option if you're in the area craving Indian/Pakistani. read more

I wish I could give more stars. For the incredible na'an alone! This place is top meals and service all the way. They use 100% Halal meat and everything I'm talking EV-RY-THING is quality hot and fresh. The atmosphere is bright as one would expect and you can almost guarantee that there are a couple people dining at any one moment. To some the service may seem slow (I witnessed a customer ask for take out containers and had to go up to the counter to remind the staff after a few minutes) but if you account for the fact that a dine-in experience typically allows people to converse naturally it is highly bearable. The servers are never not busy- great sign in any business. I love that they take the time to welcome you as you enter it shows pride and passion for their restraunt and it really comes through on the plates. I normally stick the chicken bryani lunch plates but I've ventured for the stewed goat and separate spinach curry dishes that were both so flavorful I had to review this place. I've never had a bad meal here..either to go or dine-in. They do a great job of making me feel comfortable navigating the menu and it's a cool spot, check it out and like them on Fb for daily specials! read more

And the service was outstanding. My fiancé and I ordered beef samosas, falafel, smoked chicken tikka, chicken biryani, naan and mango lassis. Everything was delicious! I've been ordering from Shyan's for years, so I'm already sold, but today was a real treat. Our server today was a young man who clearly has a gift for customer service. He was extremely courteous and eagerly attentive. My husband and I agreed that he was the best server we've ever had. Food was wonderful, as usual. We had the chicken tikka masala and beef biryani with cheese naan. We started with chicken pakora and ended with gulab jamun and would recommend any of these for your meal. Sooo good. First time trying this place. I was craving Indian and this place was on my way home. Got an order of samosas, saag paneer and naan. One of the guys convinced me to get my order medium plus instead of spicy. It all was very good but I think I can handle the spicy. And the naan was the best I've had in forever - both chewy and crunchy and an amazing flavor - plain naan has never been so good! Even though I got my order to go all the guys working were nice, friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back and try more things. Oh yeah and I loved the dipping sauce for the samosas. read more

Everything is made fresh; never frozen. From the time we walked in til our departure we were treated with 5 star service and the food to match. We enjoyed a beautiful family style spread of chicken biryani (spicy- they ask how would you like your heat flavor) as well as chicken tiki marsala with basmati rice and two sides ( though one is more than enough) of garlic naan. These two dishes were enough portions for 4 for a healthy lunch but it was so delish we had enough for one left to go and a whole order of garlic naan! Today I decided to order takeout at this little restaurant right near my house. I ordered the Chicken Tikka masala with basmati rice and also opted in to getting the bullet naan, which is stuffed with jalapenos and cilantro. I didn't know what to expect since I've never had Indian food before. My mind was totally blown at how awesome this food was! It was so flavorful and full of spices. Everything was great together and separately. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family. Hole in the wall type of place, but best Indian food I've ever tried! I think it's a mom and pop restaurant, which I find I am never disappointed with. You basically seat yourself and someone comes take your order. The service was great, and I love how the owner constantly check up on our table to make sure we were doing okay. The food did not take too long to come out either. I ordered the original Naan and my boyfriend ordered the Naan with beef. The serving size was definitely enough for 4 people. We enjoyed the crispy and buttery Naan. I could honestly eat the whole thing as a meal and be content. I didn't know what to order, but I saw the Chicken Tikka Marsala was a best seller, so I ordered that. It was very delicious and hearty. The chicken was tender and there was a lot of it! We stopped by at this Pakistani cuisine restaurant . The place is not so appealing, it was kind of dusty and sticky.The seating is also pretty basic . The food was just basic something to ease hunger. There was nothing special about any dish we ordered, dall makani which was bland and we didn't taste any butter in it as described, Chicken tikka was too dry , panir tikka Masala was the only dish which was ok and parata was thick and cooked unevenly we could actually taste the dough and the chicken pakora was more of nugget kind , we didn't taste any flavorful spice in it. The mango lassy was the most liquidy one I ever tried . It was nothing great about this place. The server was very gracious and nice but that's not enough we go to restaurants to eat some good tasting food. The management needs to upgrade the food quality. read more

The one time that I had an issue with my order missing food the owner was extremely apologetic and provided a complimentary appetizer. Had our food delivered. The portion size was adequate for two people. The food came sealed in good sturdy containers which prevented any leakage. The paratha's are a must & while the naans are delicious, I prefer them with my meal. The chicken tikka masala is on point. Great flavor, texture and consistency make it a staple with any traditional Indian meal. I prefer to have the basmati rice instead of the naan as my side & just order 2-4 of the paratha's. Food Comma! So good! Started with the Chai Tea which was great! Had the vegetable samosa and the vegetable pakora. The samosa was great! And the the pakora was ok. Service was great, they definitely make sure that you have everything you need. There is a homey feel to the restaurant which I like a lot and everyone seemed very friendly.
