Perhaps I'm a little spoiled because I'm from a big city with a huge Asian population, but I was kinda let down by this restaurant. Usually, restaurants that claim to master two different cuisines are mediocre at both, and the rule applies here as well. The service was kind but a wee bit slow, and the food was appetizing yet underwhelming. We had: tuna tataki, rainbow roll, panang curry, pad thai, spring rolls, and the tiger tears. The sushi was only okay. It could have been fresher. The panang curry was watery. The tiger tears were just...weird. BUT. They nailed the pad thai and the spring rolls. I cannot lie. I was intrigued by the giant boat of sushi I saw in the picture. I wanted to eat one and bask in my shame. Sadly, that did not happen. What did happen is this: I found a suprisingly good Sushi/Thai restaurant in Florida of all places. Yes, I am knocking Florida restaurants and dining. In comparison to anywhere else I've eaten at in Florida, I would give this place 5 stars. But sinmce I am comparing it to my usual expereiences, I give it a VERY solid 4 1/2. For appetizer, I ordered the Larb, It was chopped beef and onios with Chili paste. I ordered it mild (for my wife's sake) and still found it a spicty fireball punch in the mouth. Very tasty and I am glad I treied it, despite the unappetizing name. Really? Larb? Sushi rolls were excellent, particluarly the Crunch roll and the Sushi Bomb. These were tempura fried rolls taht were as tasty as they were enormous (yeah, they were huge and long...insert your own fallic joke here, as I'm too lazy at the moment). All was awesome except for the Dragon Roll. It was limp, falling apart and was on the bland side of things. The crowning plate was the basil fried rice. I used toi have a Chinese fusion restaurant near me that would serve this dish. They suddenly disappeared and my tastebuds have been heartbroken ever since. So when I saw this dish offered, I ordered it, despite the pleas from my wife, and was in heaven. Such a slight, but moving, taste of basil in the rice. I feel beef compliments the flavor better than other things (chicken, pork, veggies, etc), but you go for your own. Good service, decent decor. If you find yourself on the "Space Coast" as they call it (I really don't know how people in Florida take themselves seriously when they name places like that), do go here. read more

Sorry, but this review is only for the Thai menu options. A lesson to myself, and anyone using Yelp for that matter - do not only pay attention to the stars, but pay attention to the reviews as well. The only excuse I have is that we were on our way to visit my husband's ailing grandmother in a nearby hospital, were pressed for time, and a glance at only the stars seemed to indicate felicity. It was only after our dreadful meal that I went back to peruse other people's words... only to realize that most, if not all the positive ones were for the sushi! Big fail! Spring rolls (fried) tasted like they came out of a box - the same ones purveyed by your company cafeteria. My dish: a sweet-and-sour duck dish -- arrived in what may have been construed as an "artful" presentation of some pieces of duck and an upturned molded bowlful of rice. The duck was doused with a pool of sauce, which also surrounded the rice and covered every inch of the oval plate. The. sauce. was. horrible. Too cloyingly sweet, I did my best to eat around the pieces of fried, somewhat tough duck that were not completely drenched in sauce. To counteract the sauce I attempted to eat more rice, but a good portion of the grain was also soaked with sauce. I had to ask for another bowl of rice. The husband ordered a Pad See Ew, which he didn't finish since "it wasn't that good." Service was good - we were there at lunch, and there appeared to be only 1 server, but he was pleasant and efficient and super-helpful. I ordered the lemon drop martini... okay two... and they were delicious! My friends loved their drinks as well. Got take-out tonight: Summer Rolls + chicken Pad Thai ($17 before tip). The Summer Rolls were huge, and stuffed with tons of veggies. They each had 2 whole basil leaves inside (fine the first evening, but leftovers were a little overpowering to me). Loved the brown (peanut-ish) sauce, but not the clear basil-flavored sauce that came with it. Probably the best Pad Thai I've had in a while; the chicken was relatively moist, and there was enough sauce in the dish so that nothing was dry anywhere. It could have been more flavorful... Portion size was abundant - enough for 2 or 3 big servings. The girl I placed my order with over the phone was really friendly, and was the same when I picked up my order. I noticed the dining room was pretty busy (8:30pm on a Saturday). If I ever come back to Cocoa Beach, I'll be back to try their sushi! read more

Although this restaurant appears popular and full of people, do not be fooled. My family tried their sushi tonight and we were not impressed. My eel rolls were lacking proportion and had little to no meat. Each roll is 90% rice and there's no way it's worth the money they price it at. A similar restaurant in my college town makes the same sushi so much better and it was cheaper. My family essentially decided they wished they had stayed in and ate leftovers rather than wasted any money here. Although it appears to be the norm in Florida at this time, most of the wait staff was not wearing a mask, leaving their customers vulnerable to contracting COVID. read more

Been here 4 times and I've never had a good experience. When some members of our family come to town,they like to stay at the attached hotel so we naturally eat here. The Chinese food is on the greasy side and the portions are extremely small. Definitely the worst Chinese food for many miles. The food was incredibly fresh, melted in your mouth and truly delicious. My one and only complaint: My husband and I are accustomed to ordering a la carte items from a long list of 2 piece per order nigri. Orchid does not offer this. The combo options do come with plentiful pieces and a roll BUT you do not get to choose what you would get. You are simply told it comes with 12-16 pieces of sushi and 4-6 sushimi. When I go for sushi, I want to choose what I get. Other than that, the food was spectacular. Shockingly good sushi for being located at a hotel (usually strike one), in a small town (usually strike two), and being a Thai-Japanese fusion (usually strike three). It's apparent that the sushi chefs actually know what they're doing. I'm a massive sushi snob and, for the price, this was some really good stuff. The rolls are large (8-10 pcs), and they don't go easy on the ingredients inside the rolls. Service is friendly, food comes out fairly quickly, and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Color me impressed! I haven't had sushi in the area before, and I had always been a total skeptic of this place, but they definitely won my favor. Next time I'm in town visiting my in-laws, I'll definitely be back! Yum! read more

What a surprise! Pretty darn good sushi here. It don't get discouraged when you see it is part of a hotel. Siam Orchid is attached to the La Quinta hotel...but it is worth the try. All sushi is super fresh and if you want to modify an ingredient in a roll, they happily accommodate your request. Service is very attentive. We've enjoyed dining all over Cocoa Beach during our week long visit. On the night that we were in the mood for sushi, Siam Orchid came up on Yelp as nearby, so we gave it a shot. For a Sunday night, we were seated right away. Don't know if that's the norm, but it was nice for us. Our server took no time in taking our drink order. The restaurant itself is nothing special. In fact, being connected to a La Quinta doesn't really do it any favors, unfortunately. No fishy smells when we walked past the display case, though, so I felt pretty safe. Anyway, specialty drinks were limited so I ordered a glass of wine. Average priced and my husband ordered a Sapporro. No biggie. Sushi rolls were pretty expensive, but we had come for sushi so we ordered three rolls along with edamame and krab rangoons. At first I thought the rangoons were quite good until I found a big bite of fishy tasting crab with a k. Now, I know when I order Krab Rangoon, they're gonna have krab in them, but the fishy taste was disappointing. The edamame were fine, but with every bite we were shaking the salt off each and every pod. Too much salt just seemed to be dumped in the middle of the bowl. They were cooked perfectly though, so the salt was our only issue. I don't remember which rolls we ordered, but they were all from the Chef Specials. They were just okay, and considering we paid more for them than we pay in Chicago, I expected pretty amazing! They were not wrapped very tightly, and my husband and I struggled to keep them from falling apart when we dipped them in soy sauce. Flavor was fine, but nothing special. To be honest, with all the places we've visited on this vacation that are considered "holes in the wall" my expectations were not dimmed by the ambience. I just expected more from the FOOD at a sushi restaurant that scored 4/5 stars on Yelp. read more

The service here is very good but the food isn't too great. I got the tropical dragon roll n the Bahama. The mango was too ripe n they put eel sauce on top so it killed the mango taste. The conch wasn't spicy n it was so little that I can't even taste the conch... My friend got super spicy tuna n pad Thai. The roll is alright. I like the pad Thai the most but it was kinda sweet. Never sure what to expect in a tourist-y area, but I'm glad we ate here tonight. I had the rainbow roll and my partner in travels tried the shrimp/veggie stir fry. My only complaint about the food is that my rice didn't stick together as well as it should have, but that barely registers as a complaint. The food was tasty and well-prepared. I like that we could see the sushi prep from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant. The stir fry veggies tasted wonderful, too (I tasted them. Of course I did. I'm only human; you can't set a plate of crispy yet tender veggies down at my table and expect me NOT to eat a few!) although I always get irritated when shrimp shows up with tails on when the shrimp is part of a mixed dish. Our server could have been more attentive, but that happens sometimes. It's a hard job and we did get our food and drinks in a timely fashion, so that's not so much a complaint as a note. I will gladly return next time I visit this side of the state - I want to try their Thai dishes and more of the sushi. The stir fry, I will note, did not come with anything other than rice - no miso, no salad - which was surprising to me, but maybe I'm spoiled.
